Chapter 51: Chapter 50 - A Partial Family Reunion

"Did you spend a good night reflecting on your actions?" Alder asked with a smirk on his face.

Caliste, who stood before him, couldn’t help but nod as he subtly glanced toward his wife.

’I sure spent a good night. Thanks for asking,’ Caliste thought to himself.

He could see that Luna was visibly stressed as she kept playing with her hands, rubbing her arms and her forehead. Those were things people did when they were stressed, and it wouldn’t go unnoticed if this kept going.

After all, Caliste had taken a video of everything they had done and said. If that were to ever come out, Alder would probably kill his wife and Caliste at once.

It would be such a humiliation that nothing could stop him then. That’s why Caliste kept it to himself for now. He didn’t think he was strong enough to endure the repercussions, especially with Luther around. While Luther was a pathetic loser, he was a strong one.

There was a reason that Caliste had chosen him to be part of his team in the past. Luther was the best archer the world had ever seen. He could shoot things that people couldn’t see; he never missed.

He was the ultimate sharpshooter.

"Mhm... let’s talk about the quest that the two of you will have to handle today. I have already sent some of my men to understand the situation, and it seems that there is a group of heretic demons causing the corruption of the Elven Forest."

"Heretic demons? What do you mean?" Caliste asked, as he had never heard of that term.

He could obviously imagine what it meant, but he wasn’t completely sure about it. There was a lot to grasp here.

Alder found it strange that Caliste had never heard of them since he was a demon himself. However, he still went ahead and explained. After all, there was a chance that he had not heard of it when he was younger. Demons weren’t too keen on spreading such information.

"Yes, heretics. They are demons who believe that they should have eradicated humanity one hundred years ago instead of making peace with them."

"And the Demon King hasn’t done anything against them?" Caliste asked, his eyes squinting.

Alder shrugged. "I’m not too sure. We aren’t privy to the details. However, a bunch of groups still roam around the world."

While the others seemed to think nothing of it, Caliste knew that if the Demon King was not doing anything, it was because he wanted those heretics to continue as they were doing.

The Demon King is a being with strength so overwhelming that he could order anything from his subjects.

If he ever declared that such things were not allowed and punishable by death, then none of those groups would still be active to this day. There was definitely a reason as to why he had not done such a thing.

’To protect his people?’ Caliste thought, before shaking his head. ’He only cares about himself.’

’To create chaos. That’s the only possible reason. He wants that ideology to spread around the world to remind everyone that he was gracious enough to spare them of certain death.’

After decades of fighting the Demon King one hundred years ago, Caliste had gotten a pretty good grasp on how he functioned, and he was almost sure that had been his thought process back then.

"So, to complete this quest, we just have to eradicate those heretics. Is that it?"

Caliste raised an eyebrow as this quest seemed quite easy despite being ranked so highly.

"Normally, you would have to search for the group of heretics, and since we have done the job for you, your quest is now considered to be of intermediate difficulty. However, be careful; those heretics are not weak by any means."

Caliste wasn’t too worried as he was much stronger than anyone else his age, especially with the two mana affinities that he had earned.

But then, just as Caliste was about to turn around after asking about where they were located, his eyes widened as he watched who was walking through the doors of the Elven Castle.

Purple hair. Purple eyes. Perfect voluptuous body. Tight clothes that fit her like a glove.

Caliste smiled as he saw her walking in.

It was his sister. It seemed she had come to the Elven Kingdom for some reason.

"Let go of me! I want to talk with your king! How dare you lock my little brother inside your dungeons! He’s the son of the Demon King!" she screamed as the guards tried to stop her. However, none of them were nearly powerful enough as they were getting dragged on the ground by Aleia.

There was no pity in her eyes, just annoyance.

’She still looks just as pretty as before,’ Caliste thought in the back of his mind as he remembered his younger years when he would have a lot of fun "breastfeeding" on his sister.

It had been great moments that had brought them so close to each other.

"Bring out your king! I want to have a conversation with him!" Aleia continued to shout as she didn’t look in front of her. She was looking at the ground as she struggled to pull the three guards trying to hold her down.

"I told you to fucking let go!" she said as she kicked one of the guards right in the chest. "Ah... that’s much better."

She looked up and frowned right away.

"L-Little brother?" Aleia muttered, almost shocked to see him. "Weren’t you locked inside their dungeons? Why are you here?"

Caliste didn’t say anything as he just walked in her direction and gave her a big, tight hug in front of everyone, causing Aleia to blush heavily, her entire face turning bright red.

"I’ve missed you!" Caliste said with a smile on his face.

It had been a week or two since they had last seen each other, but that was very different from seeing her every day. The change had been drastic ever since he had joined the academy.

Seeing his sister again was a pleasant surprise.

"Mhm..." Alder looked at this with a slight frown, and so did Luna, interrupting their passionate reunion. "Did you come all the way here because you heard that your little brother was locked inside our dungeons?"
