Chapter 92: Moonlight Festival (4)

Chapter 92: Moonlight Festival (4)

Arren opened his mouth to say something before closing it again. He was at a loss for words. No, honestly, he wanted to ask what made Spade trust him so much.

However, he didn’t say it out loud because he already somehow knew how the alpha would answer him. And if Spade similarly asked him the same question, he would answer the same.

He let out a laugh, dispersing most of his gloomy mood, which made the other smile as well. After gradually calming from his emotion, Arren bravely met Spade’s eyes at this moment.

Arren realized that getting caught up in his emotions and self-blame couldn’t possibly help them in this situation. He was already here, and he needed to tell the alpha about what he knew without any reservations anymore.

He swallowed for a bit, thinking of how to say them out loud without sounding absurd. At least he didn’t want to make it seem like he was joking about this matter, and he wanted to show that he was serious.

"Spade, about the matter I want to tell you..." Arren began telling the alpha what he knew since the alpha had already assured him that he trusted him. Arren didn’t need to doubt his words, as he also trusted Spade about them.

While Spade might already be aware of the unusual drinks that have recently become popular in the capital, he probably still doesn’t know what its effects are, or at least it’s still in the laboratory.

He told the alpha that the drinks might have drugs on them, and some other things were also tampered with, not just food, although the drug would be easily and effectively spread through the drink. Then he also told him the effects of the drug, which were to make the pheromones go out of control. Arren was the only one talking as Spade listened to him attentively.

After he was done talking, Arren paused and observed Spade, who appeared to be in deep thought as his arms were still wrapped around Arren’s waist.

Spade’s gaze became deeper as he shifted his attention again to Arren, as he patted his waist, giving him a small and reassuring smile.

"I get it, I’ll surely pay attention to it." He said, before nodding and thinking of something and continuing to say something else, "We’ll have a meeting about it."

Arren didn’t need to ask and nodded his head, completely trusting the alpha’s decision. The slight self-blame was still there, but Arren gradually understood that it wasn’t really his fault. As always, even if he knew and said it earlier on, everything was inevitable.

He shouldn’t be wallowing in his own guilt but taking countermeasures against these bastards of society.

After informing Spade about what he knew and talking about something else, Arren returned to the Katz Mansion. Only to come back into the palace the next day for the meeting that Spade organized.

Arren sat next to Rave, whom he was supposed to meet somewhere this very day, but it wasn’t necessary anymore. They were in one of the meeting rooms of the palace or an improvised meeting room.

There was a long table with twelve chairs, and Spade sat in the head seat. They were talking about the countermeasures they had to take for the scheme of the organization.

Aside from them, Levin was also there, making the four main members of the secret investigation team complete. Of course, some important members of black intel were also there; in total, there were nine of them.

"Forbidding the selling of food and any items on the street in the capital during this Moonlight Festival will not only make the citizens sense that’s something wrong and will lead to panic, and that’s something I don’t want to see." Spade’s deep and authoritative voice rang in the room, and everyone listened attentively to his words.

His eyes swept to everyone present before continuing, "And doing that will only make the one behind this be alerted. And based on how they do things, it is possible that they come up with something far more than drugging the drinks with a whole new plan that will catch us off guard."

Arren and the others nodded in agreement with Spade’s words. What the alpha said had made sense, in fact, it perfectly described the risk of thwarting the plans of the investigation earlier on. In the capital, with its increasing number of visitors, aside from locals, an unnecessary panic would only make the situation much more complicated.

He could even tell that if they did that, the organization might use it to its advantage and create more rumors that would escalate the chaos in the capital. If that happened, Arren couldn’t do anything anymore as it had already deviated from what he knew. Every detail he knew would become pretty much useless.

At least, at this point, they could still create some plans to minimize the damage to some extent.

"However, letting the food street continue doesn’t mean we only need to be passive and wait for the situation to become hopeless." Spade’s voice echoed once more, firm and with noticeable depth.

His oppressive amber eyes seemed to become prominent and dark as he again swept his gaze to everyone listening to him, then landed on Arren at his side for a few seconds before shifting back to the center.

"Doubling or even tripling the security of the venue might help, but it will inevitably become a burden to the royal guards and the capital troops. It might be trivial, yet it’s necessary." Spade began with his series of commands.

Levin and someone from black intel had also given their compliant answers to Spade.

Aside from increased security, Spade specifically mentions speeding up the drug analysis. However, the time was tight as the Moonlight Festival was only a few days away.

Some will also monitor the situation in the square and guard the stalls tightly. The black intel would also be in full force as they would need to investigate any suspicious individuals that entered the capital and ’pay them a visit’.

Spade was the only one talking the whole time, with some of them answering and giving their responses to the orders. The time was tight, and the alpha seemed to not want any unnecessary discussions, so everything was straight to the point.

This series of actions’ pretext would be that Arren, who was the Emperor’s lover, was attending the event, so the Emperor was only making sure that the security was tighter than the previous years. Of course, this might not fool the organization entirely; at least they wouldn’t be alerted too much.

Spade drank a mouthful of water from his glass before he raised his voice and asked, "Is everything clear?"

Everyone gave a positive response as Arren watched Spade, as he inwardly smile. His alpha was too... cool.
