Chapter 90: Moonlight Festival (2)

Chapter 90: Moonlight Festival (2)

"The organization might be planning on attending the Moonlight Festival," Rave started as Arren’s ears perked up. Just like he assumed it had something to do with those bastards!

However, he couldn’t appear too excited either and still wore a calm expression on the surface. "What do you know?" he further inquired.

Rave finally cut to the chase and told him what he knew. Arren merely nodded, and they decided to meet tomorrow to talk about it face-to-face before ending the call as the omega was also busy.

Arren fell silent and pondered the details he got from Rave; they weren’t exactly comprehensive and more like conjectures on the other’s part, but he trusted the omega’s halo the most when it came to things like this.

Well, based on actual facts, Rave really did have the capability to discover it first, as he was already more experienced in following the trails of the organization than most people.

"If Rave already had this information before, how come in the novel it wasn’t mentioned?" Arren mumbled to himself after contemplating for a while, however, he soon got a rational answer to this question.

If he was going to base the novel on this, at this point in the plot, Rave and Spade had yet to have any connection at all. What happened at the Moonlight Festival was actually Spade’s first appearance in the book, there was no way Rave could reveal this to the Alpha as he would become suspicious early on.

The omega wasn’t the same as Arren, so even if he acted suspiciously, Spade would never think of him as a spy of the organization at all. Now, because the progress was quicker this time around, Arren got Rave’s information from his sources. And he even said that it was only accidentally discovered by a friend, which was clearly one of his trusted sources.

As for who Rave’s sources were, he knew, of course, that although it might not look like it, the omega actually had his own agency and company outside. If not, how did Rave, who was clearly a royal attendant who was always in the palace, have the time to know a lot about going outside and funding his investigations?

And he wasn’t investigating any normal organization at that, but one of the most dangerous and biggest organizations in the world right now. Of course, he had to have extensive intelligence sources and funds.

Saying that Rave had no wealth left because of his family’s debt was clearly underestimating the accumulated resources that the old Marquis house held. He might not have inherited a lot of money, but the other things were still preserved, for example... his parents’ hidden laboratory and the loyal supporters of the house. In fact, those were far more important than money itself.

Arren knew of it, but why would he expose Rave? For things like these, he didn’t care too much. It was also probably the reason Rave could tell him these things without a burden, as Arren would never ask him. That wouldn’t be the same when telling the Emperor directly.

They were different in a lot of ways, but Arren always claimed their goals were the same.

"A suspicious drink that has gained popularity recently," Arren muttered to himself, and after a few seconds, he almost laughed out loud at how ridiculous it was.

It was so damn absurd that he gritted his teeth in anger.

The festival had all sorts of things in the capital’s square, even in most cities, and foods and beverages were some of the most famous on the streets. It was a large-scale food street, but not only food; there were some other items as well that could be bought for a lower price without sacrificing quality.

Of course, the capital was more famous than other places in the empire when it was the Moonlight Festival and the people traveling to the Present City were in the millions.

It could be said that this was the best time for the organization to create chaos in the Empire. Actually, at first, Arren didn’t think too much of this event other than that this was going to be a scandal under his alpha’s rule.

When he read the novel, the event wasn’t thoroughly detailed, and in merely a thousand words, it wasn’t enough for a reader to know the extent of the whole thing.

However, it would be boring if the author had to describe everything down to the last detail, and it had to skip a lot of things to emphasize the plot point and the main character within. What about the background characters? Of course, they weren’t important because that’s what they were: background characters.

This time, it was clearly different for Arren. He wasn’t only looking at everything from the perspective of a reader; Arren was already part of this world, and everything was real to him. All the people might not be related to him, but they were nonetheless real and not mere background characters.

He thought that those alphas that would become berserks might be cannon fodder that the organization planted in the festival to start the chaos. However, if his intuition was right and what Rave discovered had a connection with it, everyone was innocent, and it all started with one suspicious beverage.

And it seemed that Arren was thoroughly mistaken; the extent of this scheme was much larger than he ever dared to imagine. Saying to hunt the one selling the suspicious beverages was extremely naive thinking; if the organization could drug these drinks, it was easy for them to tamper with and drug a lot of other things as well. And the capital was now much more complicated than usual, with millions of visitors, not only from the Empire but from all over the world.

Arren became serious, his expressions and nerves were much more tense this time. If he was still thinking of how to reveal what he knew to Spade now, he already had a hunch that the alpha had some information about it too! How could he not? After all, this was his turf.

With gritted teeth, Arren started to prepare himself. This time, he didn’t have many hesitations anymore. This was no small matter that only a handful would be affected, it was a disaster. A fucking man-made disaster brought by the scum of society.

He was going to the palace to meet Spade! He had never felt so much urgency before, but he was still rational, and he wouldn’t go to the palace rashly because of his emotions. Arren still knew his identity now, his relationship with Spade had been revealed to those influential nobles, and he didn’t dare show up there in a high-profile manner.

Arren had common sense, and he would never do that. that would only be inviting more troubles for himself, and what he wanted was to meet Spade quietly. He would never forget that some organization spies might already be in those influential nobles, so he had to be careful more than anyone.

Even if he could call Spade later, Arren had no time to wait. This was more important than anything else. He got up and prepared himself, it didn’t take long, and he was ready.

The Katz Manion was lively, and there was a lot more lively atmosphere than usual, and it even became well decorated with white lanterns, but Arren couldn’t appreciate these things much and went straight to where his father was.

After asking around, he found his father in the gardens, meticulously supervising the servants.
