The Emperor's Omega Is An Extra -
Chapter 201: Friends
Chapter 201: Friends
Arren leaned on his seat again while he was introducing his favorite MOBA game to Rave beside him. Even if he was not a hardcore gamer, he loved to do it occasionally, at least if he was truly bored or wanted a pastime.
It was only on their phone, so they could do it casually. They had been duo-queuing for over an hour, and Rave could now grasp the heroes and mechanics of the game.
"Oh, that’s a nice shot! We’ll push towers first, let them clash if they wanted to." Arren spoke nonchalantly, he sometimes didn’t care about his teammates, which had the tendency to make his blood boil as they focused more on clashing with their opponents without really doing anything to the objectives of the game, so with Rave, they could have a kill as well together if some unfortunate fellows tried to gank them.
"Mm, be mindful of your position," Rave responded, now giving advice as well. Arren was about to argue, but he ultimately didn’t. He had to admit that the omega was indeed good at this, even though he only technically played a handful of matches.
At least he was better than Arren when he started playing this game.
He could only roll his eyes and say, "Of course, I know that." His eyes glimpsed the mini-map and saw that the jungler and midlaner were not visible. As they were already deep on the enemy’s side, they had a higher chance of being ganked at this time.
Arren was playing a mage and a midlaner, and Rave was his support. He was technically a tank that also needed support from other teammates, but they didn’t care for others and only played for themselves. In any case, this wasn’t a ranked game.
"Be careful," he was already getting ready to fight an enemy and positioned himself a little behind Rave so he wouldn’t be stunned immediately to properly cast his skills.
Rave affirmed, and not only a few seconds later, as their enemies emerged from the other side’s bush, stunning Rave’s hero while giving Arren the opportunity to do the same and make his combo; however, as he was already about to cast his ultimate to the two after Rave managed to link and stun the two, his phone vibrated, and someone called.
Arren was about to curse really hard since it was bad timing, but his anger dissipated once he saw the name of the caller ID. Instantly, he didn’t care anymore about the game or if they were defeated, and he abandoned the game at once.
Sexy Alpha, it read. This was his name for Spade, which was changed from Hot Investigator to before.
He licked his lips and looked at Rave before answering the call, his hero had stopped moving before it was killed after the enemies’ backup came and killed Rave as well. So, Arren would already be AFK after resurrecting.
Rave still chose to play, as Arren was now about to talk to Spade. Since he didn’t want to make it awkward for the omega, even if he wasn’t ashamed, he chose to sit slightly further from Rave.
The call was already answered, and Spade was also waiting for him to actually speak when he put the phone in his ears and didn’t hear the alpha saying anything.
"Spade," he muttered the alpha’s name, not in a sweet tone but more in a soft and calming tone.
Arren didn’t know exactly why Spade called him, even if it was about him going home early, he would never blame the alpha for it, even though it was unfortunate and disappointing to cut this trip short.
He wanted to assure Spade more than anyone else, whom he knew was really busy these days. He chuckled and added, "Should I go straight to the palace now?" He didn’t want to sound upset and joked about it to make it sound more casual.
Although he wasn’t really upset and only thought it was a pity. He wanted to spend his time with Rave a bit more when they didn’t need to care about status or the impending chaos ahead of them.
"I heard what happened," Spade sighed from the other end, and he continued without waiting for Arren to respond, "Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it. You can still enjoy your time outside and with Rave Amos."
Arren, who was ready to be instructed to go home, was a bit dumbfounded as he heard what Spade said in the end. His brow furrowed, processing what the alpha just said.
"Wait, Did you mean I don’t need to go home early?" Arren clarified, his voice revealing his confusion, but at the same time, there was unconcealed anticipation in his tone.
This time, it was Spade’s turn to let out a chuckle on the other side. Even if Arren couldn’t see the alpha’s expression, he could already imagine the amusement in those amber eyes.
"Yes, you don’t need to. Arren, as I’ve said before, I want you to enjoy, as there’s no use if you’re not." Spade’s voice turned gentler, a smile evident in his tone, "As long as you’re happy, then this will all be worth it."
Arren listened to the alpha’s voice, which always kept him calm no matter the situation. He pursed his lips and rested his left hand on the table while looking at it, the rim of his eyes heating up for some reason.
He wasn’t a crybaby, and even in his past life, he always wanted to put on a strong front for his parents, even if it was really hard and he just wanted to rest. All because he knew that while it was hard for him, it must be harder for them as well.
However, he still couldn’t help but be emotional whenever he was Spade; it was like the moment that he had already opened his heart to the alpha and cried in front of him countless times, he never closed his heart and emotions to him again.
"Arren?" Spade called his name after he didn’t answer for a few seconds; this pulled him from his thoughts.
He licked his lips and took a deep breath as he answered.
"Next time, let’s have a date, Spade," he smiled. "I want to be with you and visit the places and countries I want to visit. It’s a future that I want to see."
Spade fell silent; Arren patiently waited for him, and he would always be. After a few seconds, the alpha’s deep voice resounded.
"Of course, I’ll accompany you whenever you want," the alpha answered, wholeheartedly.
After that, they only talked about a few things before the call ended. Arren looked at his phone for a moment as he decided to stand and approach Rave once more.
"Finished?" The omega asked, he was only browsing social media instead of playing the game. Arren didn’t ask about the outcome of the game, which wasn’t really important to him and nodded.
He gave a sweet smile to the omega and winked, "Let’s go; we still have a long way to go," and he had a satisfying laugh seeing Rave’s reaction after that.
And their date really continued. Arren decided to stop by a hotel first, and they both changed clothes after Arren showered since the suffocating pheromones of that Ramir still lingered on him and it made him creep out and disgusted.
This time, Arren only wore a simple shirt and pants, but even then he really could get attention from others, and he grinned at Rave, saying how it was really inevitable, jokingly.
They didn’t exactly visit the places he planned to but instead chose the places that were relatively simple and had no crowd by this time of the day or week. Arren didn’t want to bump into another asshole or someone he knew.
Even in disguise, he bet those people would recognize him. After all, his disguise wasn’t really a ’disguise.’
Arren and Rave sat on the bench while overlooking the lake. The wind brushed them, calming their emotions. Each had an ice cream cone in their hand, and Arren took in the serene atmosphere.
This place was where most picnics took place, but it wasn’t crowded unless there was an event that would be happening. Arren loved to take pictures in this place when he was younger. Actually, this was his first time again in years visiting the park, which was famous by the name Descending Moon Lake, as truly when it was a full moon, it was as though it had descended in this lake by how bright and clear it was.
"Rave, what will you do after this?" Arren inquired, not leaving his gaze on the lake and looking at the swans that played around in the water.
"I’ll continue with my plan and do what I need to do." Rave didn’t even bat an eyelid as he answered Arren truthfully.
Arren turned his head and glanced at Rave, who did the same as their eyes met. He was aware that the days of peace were already limited, especially as Rave had already invested so much and he still needed to continue what he started.
He somehow felt like he was the only one who needed to be behind the scenes and in the same place, being protected by everyone. Arren wasn’t stubborn either and accepted this protection. Aside from admitting he was weak, he was also the main target the organization’s leader wanted to capture.
Even so, for even a small thing, he wanted to help.
"Rave, we are friends, right?" Arren asked, in the sincerest tone he could utter.
Rave blinked, stunned by the question. However, it was only momentarily, as he offered a kind smile and nodded. "Yes, we’re friends, Arren."
