Chapter 169: Insanity
Chapter 169: Insanity
Arren felt so incredibly hungry that he could even finish three people’s portions of food. He didn’t know why that was—did the dream he had, consumed most of his energy last night?
After thinking about it, he shrugged. Since he didn’t remember, why would he force himself? Arren knew his nonchalant behavior was sometimes a pain in the ass and one that eventually gave him trouble, but he always believed that certain matters had a reason for it.
He didn’t remember the dream because he didn’t want to remember it. He wasn’t as naive as he seemed on the surface; more than that, he was so superior at acting oblivious that he could even deceive himself.
He munched on his food deliciously as he raised his head, seeing Spade still watching him as he ate.
"You don’t want to eat more?" He cocked his head innocently and asked, there was still food squeezed in his cheek, making him look like a cute chipmunk.
Spade couldn’t help but smile fondly and pinch that bulge in Arren’s cheek. No matter how he was getting confused and getting lost, as soon as he saw Arren’s face and his smile, all of those concerns vanished in an instant, and the only one that was important was the man before him.
The hidden gloomy air around him and the looming instability of his emotions were all tamed in an instant, hiding deeply once more inside him.
"I’m fine," Spade answered honestly. While his appetite could be large as an alpha, he was already used to a controlled meal, especially on occasions when he had a lot on his mind, just like in this situation. "I’m already full watching you eat," he added, with the most sincere words.
Arren’s brows almost twitched as he heard this; it was sweet, but it sounded like he was a pig or something. He stared at the alpha and shrugged; he wouldn’t pursue the matter and continued gobbling the food as though unintentionally proving Spade’s words.
All through the afternoon and until the evening, Arren was as lively as ever. He didn’t seem to be someone like the one yesterday. While he was obedient and didn’t persist in asking if he could play around in the ocean again, he was being clingy to Spade and flirted with him whenever he wanted.
Just like how Spade complied and played along with everything he was saying and doing, indulging Arren like always. But as time passed and the evening came, both of them slept together, but it was only Arren who really did.
A few minutes later, after Arren’s breathing became stable and peaceful, indicating he was already fast asleep, Spade’s eyes opened, and his amber pupils looked much darker in the dim light.
He watched Arren in his sleep for a few minutes before he got up slowly, careful not to wake him up. He even moved Arren and fixed the quit on him. Spade’s eyes flickered as he sighed, caressed Arren’s cheeks gently, and finally turned around to leave the room.
However, unbeknownst to Spade, as he closed the door... Arren’s eyes opened, stared at the closed door for a moment before he closed his eyes again and fell asleep for real.
Spade trailed and stood on the balcony of the second floor, and not long after, Levin and Ace arrived in his position silently. The other royal guards were now keeping an eye on Curt and getting ready to receive reinforcements to transfer him off the island.
It wouldn’t be long before a lot of uninvited guests would arrive in this place; there was no way the commotion they caused from capturing Curt wouldn’t gain curious looks, and probably some pictures will circulate on the internet as well. No one knew what was going on from the perspective of the witnesses, but those in the know would already have a guess at what happened.
Hamayana Island was not as isolated from the world as they claimed. It was impossible to hide any longer.
"Contact Ms. M of black intel," he started. The two almost flinched, but he didn’t mind them and continued, "Arren will meet her once we’re back in the capital." Spade might not be ready to ruin the dream and play Arren created, but he wouldn’t make things worse either.
It needed attention, or he wouldn’t be at peace. The longer the matter was delayed, the more he was afraid that there was an even worse consequence waiting for them. Arren only needed to be guided for treatment; that was all, and let him explore his dark memories.
He only mentioned it before he proceeded; he didn’t want to further discuss it with others. "Curt is important for now, protect him well." He was not the least bit soft in his tone.
He gazed into the distance, and his right palm clenched into a fist, the rage that he was suppressing slowly erupting and beginning to emit from inside him.
His fist trembled, wanting to vent about something. Spade knew he only needed one push, and all the limits and defenses he had were crumpled in an instant. It only needed that one final push, but he prayed that it wouldn’t happen. If it was... he was terrified of all the madness he would unleash from his heart.

"Your Majesty," a woman bowed, gave one envelope as Liviera stopped reading in his book, and took the letter.
He calmly opened the envelope and read the letter that was inside. At first, Liviera’s face was still calm, but as seconds passed, his expression changed before his eyes widened and he looked at his cousin, who has always been there for him ever since he was young.
"Mira..." he called out suddenly. His face was pale, and the delicate face became even softer in the eyes, but the fire in his eyes couldn’t be overlooked.
"Your Majesty," Mira immediately supported and tended to Liviera. She watched him as he almost crumpled the paper but also looked at it again, as though confirming that what was written on it was real.
"he’s caught. That Curt was caught," he revealed, before a few seconds later he began to laugh. The insanity within was truly frightening to hear, in complete contrast to his appearance, but Mira was already used to it.
Empress Liviera always kept an eye on these people who were part of the organization, he knew who Curt was. A liaison who is neither a small nor a big member of the organization. In his eyes, all of them were the same; they all needed to be killed.
His eyes flickered with an intense madness that almost resembled that of Spade; his amber pupils were dilated as his laughter gradually faded, but the brightness of his eyes never diminished.
He read the letter all over again before his eyes heated up and he looked at the portrait of him and his husband on the side wall. It was their last portrait together, and they were still a bit younger in it.
Liviera stood and stepped closer to the portrait, reaching out but not touching it, while his other hand tightly held the letter as it crumbled.
"Don’t worry, my love. I’m getting closer..." Each word that he uttered was stained with insanity, darker than came from the abyss, even with the sweet tone. "I’ll kill them all, and then..." Liviera’s eyes heated up. "I’ll be at peace to follow you."
