The Emperor's Omega Is An Extra -
Chapter 140: Search
Chapter 140: Search
While Arren was planning how to meet with Spade, the group of people searching for him had yet to have any results. After all, Arren was careful and no one noticed him, and after that, he met Ivo and went to his villa, so there had been no clue so far.
Rave and Levin were together and had separated from the others. In fact, it was only Rave who wanted to move on his own, as he was used to working alone. However, Levin still insisted on being with him, and he didn’t refuse.
He was aware that refusing the alpha could only waste their time, and in the end, Levin would still insist, so Rave skipped it entirely. Everyone was racing for time, and the pressure for them was increasing as Spade’s impatience was reaching its peak. Anyone who was slammed with words couldn’t lift their head anymore in front of the emperor.
As for Rave, aside from the pressure of the monarch, he was also anxious to find Arren. It wasn’t only his responsibility to obey Spade; he was also searching for Arren of his own accord. He might not admit it, but he treated the omega like a friend.
Growing up, Rave didn’t have a friend. It was hard to get along with someone, especially with Arren, who was clingy and talkative. He was used to being alone, as he had goals in mind.
Things like relationships were not too important to him; he was more focused on finding his parents. Throughout the years, the anxiousness and even the helplessness had been engraved on him that he had become numb to it.
He didn’t even know what it was like to have a friend or the warmth that having one could give him. He was so used to the loneliness that after Arren came into his life, he avoided his invasive presence.
Rave couldn’t understand how someone could be easygoing like the omega. They were different, and at some point, he even held some disdain for how Arren could be so carefree without knowing the intensity of their situation. No, rather than saying he didn’t know, he was purposely avoiding reality by pretending to be oblivious to all of it.
He wasn’t like that, so he didn’t know how to treat Arren. However, even if he had avoided Arren, the omega was too persistent in pestering him, and he suddenly became comfortable with it. Or at least, he wasn’t that opposed to Arren’s presence anymore.
When he found out that Arren was missing, his fear was no less than Spade’s. Someone could only be emotionless once they had yet to experience the feeling of having someone by their side.
Rave was like that before; he never thought less of himself just because he was a loner. But after being with Arren and experiencing the comfort of having a friend by his side after so long, Rave was so afraid that he would be alone once more.
He knew his fear. Rave was afraid of people leaving him and abandoning him. One of the reasons he let himself be alone was that doing so meant no one could ever leave him, as no one was there, to begin with.
Suddenly, he realized that Arren’s presence around him had really reached the point where it could trigger this fear of his. He volunteered to search for Arren in the sea, and that was also part of the search for the omega on the island.
"Are you going out already?" a casual voice spoke behind him.
Rave put the hat on his head and turned to look; it was Levin, who had just woken up. They were still wandering late last night, but the alpha persuaded him to rest first. He also knew the importance of resting so they could function effectively the next day, and he agreed.
They booked two rooms at a small hotel nearby and slept there. Now, it was still early, probably seven in the morning, and Rave was already gearing up to go outside.
Their rooms were only next to each other, and the walls were thin, so Levin might have heard him open the door. Looking at the alpha, who had obviously only gotten up from the bed, Rave had a conflicted emotion inside.
He didn’t let his mind wander, however, and was still composed on the outside.
"I don’t want to waste time." He softly responded. He always worked like that; if he could do it now, why should he waste time just because it was still early?
The alpha sighed and looked at him. "Wait for me, I’ll come with you."
Rave had yet to say anything to refuse or agree when the alpha already went inside, obviously not taking no for an answer. He had no choice but to wait for the alpha. He wasn’t so rude as to leave on his own after that.
It only took a few minutes, and Levin came out of the room, already presentable. Rave was still in his position earlier and looking at the room, so as soon as the alpha opened the door, their eyes instantly met.
He was momentarily mesmerized by those eyes before Rave averted his gaze and turned around.
"Are you ready? Then, let’s go." Without hearing Levin say anything, he began walking. For some reason, every time, he was with the alpha, his heart couldn’t help but pound in a way that he couldn’t understand.
He was aware of what this meant, but at the same time, he didn’t want to address it soon. For him, this kind of feeling was the one that would distract him and hinder him from achieving his goals. As much as possible. If he could ignore it, he would.
Footsteps sounded behind him as Levin followed him out of the hotel. They were outside not long after, and Rave roamed his eyes around. His eyes were like those of a cat that simply swept its eyes around to look for the faces of the people passing by.
It was still early in the morning, so there weren’t many people outside. And this part of the island wasn’t also that bustling with activity compared to the center, but it was much more peaceful and famous for those who only wanted to swim alone and sunbathe.
"Where should we start?" Levin spoke beside his ears; unknowingly, the alpha had already come so close to him. Rave would have flinched if he hadn’t been trained to react faster than most. He was startled, but this wasn’t shown on his face.
He cast a glance at Levin, composing his heart that began to pound seeing his face so close to him.
"We can keep asking along the way." he simply responded, and he didn’t want to say more otherwise his nervousness might come to the surface and be reflected in his voice.
His plan was to ask around first and gather some clues if anyone had ever seen someone with their hair dyed. This plan was too simple and wasn’t Rave’s usual style, so he wasn’t so used to it. However, it wasn’t like he could think of a plan right away since what happened was too sudden. What he could do was use a simple and inconvenient method like this.
While he was thinking about it, unbeknownst to him, he already had a frown on his face. And only after that did he hear the alpha laugh before he lifted his head, his lips seemingly in a pout, which was a rare expression on his face.
He looked confusedly at Levin, who laughed and seemed to want to do something but was hesitant to do so.
"Why are you laughing?" his brow furrowed, and he asked.
This time, Levin sheepishly smiled, and his deep gaze held an amused light before shaking his head.
"Nothing." holding back his urge to pinch Rave’s cheeks, he held out his hand and added, "Let’s go?"
Looking at his smile, Rave had this feeling that this alpha had malicious intentions that, for some reason, made his heart itch. Averting his gaze, he nodded and pursed his lips, hiding his heated cheeks.
"Let’s go." He then walked ahead, not looking back anymore.
