The Emperor's Omega Is An Extra -
Chapter 138: Instincts
Chapter 138: Instincts
It was only after a few minutes of silence that Arren smiled sheepishly, despite his eyes becoming half-lidded due to drowsiness. He could barely open his eyes, but the smile on his lips was still as bright as ever.
"You also resembled a friend of mine," he revealed. Rave wasn’t here, so he could claim that the omega was his friend. And Mr. Ivo didn’t know the white-haired omega, so it was okay.
"Oh? Am I really like your friend?" Mr. Ivo casually asked, his tone almost monotonous, revealing that he had no interest at all.
At this, Arren laughed so hard that he almost fell down; his shoulders were shaking. It was actually a habit of his to when he was laughing unrestrained, and he could even collapse on the floor if no one was supporting him.
"You are really... like him!" He laughed, and with that voice and expression, it was like they were from the same mold. He took a deep breath and calmed down, but he was still half lying on the couch and grinning incredulously.
Mr. Ivo’s expression didn’t change, only that his eyes were almost revealing the contempt in his eyes from Arren laughing so much about that small matter.
Arren wasn’t offended, since he was used to this kind of stare from Rave. Instead, he almost laughed again. He was so sleepy, and this was the only thing that kept him awake.
"See? That stare too. Mr. Ivo, do you have a lost child?" He laughed casually, not taking this seriously at all, as he continued, "I think my friend inherited his annoying expressions from you."
Arren was already drowsy, and he was only blabbering and wasn’t really serious with what he was saying. So, he didn’t notice the slight fluctuations of emotions that flashed in those calm eyes of the elder omega with what he said.
"Your friend is...?" Mr. Ivo asked, composed himself, but the last word lasted longer from his mouth as though he were hesitant but eager at the same time.
He blinked and looked at Mr. Ivo, before he yawned. His consciousness was really being pulled out by the dream world, and staying awake for a minute longer consumed most of his stamina. Of course, he couldn’t concentrate on the conversation anymore, and he smiled apologetically at the elder omega.
"Sorry," he yawned, tears forming in the corner of his eyes, "Mr. Ivo, I’m really sleepy now. Can we talk tomorrow?" His voice was weak, and even his eyelids were heavy.
He didn’t even hear what the other said, but he saw him nod, and Arren finally walked to the room that was prepared for him in difficulty. He almost stumbled on his own feet if not for Ivo, who supported him.
Arren never bothered to look around, as he went straight to the bed. As soon as he laid down, he fell asleep. Truly, swimming in the sea could give you a good night’s sleep afterward. As Arren was sleeping peacefully, he was completely unaware of the upheaval that he was causing on the other side of the island.
It was already almost ten in the evening, but the villa, which was supposedly the most peaceful part of the island, was still beaming with activity. And it was not going to be some fantastic night, but the tension was rising with each passing second, and no one was sleepy in the slightest.
"Any news?" a deep and calm voice rang in the air, asking the people present. However, despite the calmness of this tone, the suppressed dangerous emotion within couldn’t be concealed, which almost made everyone shiver in fright inside.
There were only three royal guards inside, aside from Spade, who was sitting on the veranda, looking outside, unknown what he was thinking about. The other three members of the royal guard and Levin were coordinating with the people that had been deployed on the island earlier; they were still dealing with the situation silently, but everyone knew it wouldn’t last for long.
As for Rave, he had also gone to search for his ’troublesome friend’. His tracking and investigation skills were among the best, even in black intel, which he mastered over several years. He was with Levin, as they both coordinated with each other.
Ace, one of the royal guards, swallowed and took the initiative to step forward and bear the brunt of the emperor’s anger.
"There’s still no news, Your Majesty." He spoke, steady but his back was already damp with cold sweat. His two comrades looked at him with grateful eyes for his heroic sacrifice.
Spade seemed to nod, yet did not. His face was still hard to read, the shadows outlined most of his features, but the way his pheromones became thick and dangerous revealed his impatience.
From looking at the beach in the distance, he shifted his gaze to the three royal guards; his amber eyes were so dark that they seemed to blend into the night. These sinister and oppressive eyes increased the pressure on the three; they almost couldn’t hold on as their instincts told them to prostrate before the emperor.
"Until tomorrow," he muttered calmly, removing his gaze from the pitiful royal guards and returning to staring outside. The three couldn’t help but sighed in relief; any longer, and they would really collapse.
Spade’s composed expression was once again betrayed as he clenched his jaw, gritting his teeth. His alpha instincts were taking over; the nature of the dominant alpha had been wanting to overwhelm him. This was the first time he experienced it.
His emotions were still chaotic despite how many times he forced himself to calm down; he could barely suppress them, but for how long he could maintain this state, he didn’t know.
The images caused by his guilt had once again flashed across his mind as he shut his eyes, shaking them off his head. It was the thought of wanting to imprison the omega once he found him, or even chain him to his body so he couldn’t leave his sight forever.
Spade knew that this was only the natural possessive nature of a dominant alpha, and it was getting worse, it almost made him insane. The frustration, worry, and even fear were amplifying these thoughts, and they were messing with his head.
"Find him..." Spade clicked his tongue and opened his eyes with furrowed brows. "Now, leave!" he growled, wanting them to leave his sight; otherwise, he might really vent his chaotic emotions on them.
Spade knew that his royal guards weren’t at fault for what happened, so he didn’t want to be too harsh on them. However, he was really having a hard time calming himself, and if they still remained in his vicinity, he was aware that to vent these emotions, words were not enough.
"Yes, your Majesty." Everyone acknowledged him and quickly left; they also knew that the emperor was not being his usual self.
And as Spade was the only one left, silence shrouded him, and the sound of the beach seemed to grow louder in his ears. It wasn’t calming at all, instead intensifying the monstrous waves inside of him.
The silence took over for a few minutes as Spade stared expressionlessly into the distance. It was only when he kept his emotions at bay once more that he sighed, his face filled with pain and exhaustion.
"Arren..." he mumbled, calling out the name as though he were the only one that could calm him and save him from being thoroughly engulfed by his instincts.
Spade leaned heavily in the seat, and his hand that was clenched on the table fell tiredly to the side.
Tomorrow... he’ll find the omega, himself.
