The Emperor's Omega Is An Extra -
Chapter 119: Vacation
Chapter 119: Vacation
Arren didn’t hear Rave’s answer for a long time, but the omega was looking at him and observing him. He was also not breaking their eye contact.
In the first place, he only brought up the matter of vacation out of the blue. Aside from the fact that he really intended to do so because of all the stress he had at the start of this year, he also couldn’t think of anything else. Most likely, the latter was the real reason.
So, he wasn’t expecting Rave to respond. In his heart, he truly cherished the other omega, whom he had claimed as his friend even when he was only reading a novel. They might have had a lot of differences in personality and even thought they were destined enemies. However, in truth, Arren didn’t want Rave to be his enemy.
If he did, he would really be devastated.
"Will His Majesty let you out of the palace?" Rave asked after a while.
Arren grinned and shrugged. "I’m not a prisoner in the palace..." he said as a matter of fact, which he was only saying to lighten the mood since he knew what Rave was trying to say.
With the organization’s threat against him that had yet to be lifted and the fact that it seemed they really had their eyes on him, it was best for Arren not to go out too much.
Rave expressionlessly looked at him, almost with blank eyes, which almost made Arren laugh. He really loved teasing Rave because of his hilarious reactions.
"Spade will not forbid me if I want to go out," he continued, deciding not to piss off Rave too much, and then hastily added, "Of course, if I want to travel out of the capital... it’s possible that he will come too."
Scratch that; Arren was certain that Spade really would not let him wander alone without him, especially outside of the capital. The empire was so big that who knew what would happen the moment he stepped out of the capital? Not to mention, it seemed even the Present City was not that safe for him anymore after what happened last time.
Rave nodded with understanding, without stating the name, it was already clear who he was talking about.
"Do you really want to take a vacation?" he mumbled, with even a hint of hesitation in his graceful voice.
Arren fell silent for a few seconds before he responded, "After what happened... do you think holing myself in the palace can help me heal?" Instead of answering, he asked a question instead.
He wasn’t hurt on the surface; hell, he was even extremely healthy. With his extroverted personality and almost simple attitude toward things, recovering from a setback was truly easy.
However, what happened in the past few weeks seemed like a complete nightmare that seeped into his reality. It was still there, accumulating inside of him for the next time they would haunt him.
Recovering from almost being kidnapped and seeing all the dead bodies from the fight because of him, plus the fact that the enormous eye of a hidden organization was still on him and waiting for an opportunity to plan his abduction of him again for something he didn’t have any clue about, was not easy.
In fact, without Arren’s personality, tenacity, and the loving individuals beside them, they had long since collapsed their mentality due to constant fear and trauma.
Arren was only a human. He was truly only a human. He wanted a break from all these shits before they fell on him and engulfed his life in ruins once more.
Rave couldn’t say anything else after that. Or that, as they both knew, words of comfort were meaningless to their reality. Accept it or not, their future was... unpredictable. Win or lose, who could really predict the outcome? One thing was for certain: blood would flow as they streamed and swept the whole world.
As they arrived at the palace, Arren got out of the car. He was silent the entire time, like Rave. He intended to continue through their room, and their footsteps through the marble hallways were the only sounds that could be heard. When he was stopped in his tracks by a low and yet pleasing voice.
"I can finally use my vacation leave after working for a long time."
Arren froze before a smile curled on his lips, and he turned his head to look at the omega behind him. "You never used your vacation leave?" His brows rose as amusement filled his eyes.
Rave maintained his composed expression, but it could be noticed that his mood was lighter than before, unlike before, when he seemed to be holding an extreme burden inside of him.
"I don’t have a place I want to visit," he simply answered.
Arren already predicted as much. He chuckled and turned his body completely to face Rave and patted his shoulder, letting out a huge, genuine grin that made his phoenix eyes curve into a slit. "It’s a deal then. Let’s visit the places and wonders in the Empire!" His voice was quite loud and enthusiastic.
The corner of Rave’s lips twitched, but he still couldn’t keep up with Arren’s energy. "We can’t visit them all," he answered in a logical way since they really didn’t have time yet to travel to so many places at this moment.
However, Arren wasn’t convinced and instead declared, "We can. As long as we’re alive, we always have a chance!"
And of course, Rave couldn’t respond after that and only repeated Arren’s words in his head, thinking of something else.
Having decided on it, Arren wanted to tell Spade his plan for a vacation when he returned to their room after the meeting. For the most of the hour, Rave was still with him as they also watched the lighting of lanterns outside, in which even the royal attendants and guards participated.
He waited for Spade, but as it was getting late, Rave had to return to his quarters, leaving Arren alone in the room. He persisted first and watched some shows on the laptop before he fell asleep unknowingly.
Arren was awoken by someone moving him in the bed, and as he opened his eyes, he saw that it was Spade.
"Sorry, did I wake you up?" The alpha whispered, as though afraid that he would be completely awakened by his deep voice.
Arren nodded, "But it’s okay," then asked in a hoarse and sleepy voice, "The meeting was done?"
Spade had already set him on the mattress and covered him with a quilt until his chest; the Alpha then put the laptop in the side drawer before sitting at his side as they faced each other.
"Mm, it’s done." He stroked his hair, bent down slightly, and smiled, whispering softly, "You can sleep again. I’m just going to take a shower, and I’ll accompany you in a bit."
He noticed that the alpha was still in his royal suit, and he seemed to have only returned with exhaustion that was still displayed in his eyes despite his smile.
Arren wanted to ask about what happened in the meeting, but it didn’t seem like he could help the alpha in that area. He held Spade’s hand and kissed it as he shut his eyes for a few seconds before opening his eyes and looking at his alpha, who was now staring at him intently.
"Okay, I’ll wait for you." Before Spade said something to persuade him to go to sleep again, he hastily added, "I have something to say, and I’m not that sleepy anymore."
Spade’s mouth opened and seemed to want to say something, but in a moment of hesitation, he nodded. "Alright, I’ll listen to you."
