The Emperor's Omega Is An Extra
Chapter 118: Trust

Chapter 118: Trust

Arren shut his eyes and lowered his gaze, not daring to look at her anymore. What was that? Her voice really resembled the one that suddenly overlapped in his ears.

He didn’t know when that was or what its significance was for his fear of her. Arren also couldn’t remember something like that happening before; it couldn’t be a dream as he was certainly awake.

As Arren was immersed in his thoughts, he didn’t answer Princess Noreen yet, which made the air around them somewhat awkward. The elderly yet still beautiful woman looked at a loss to Spade and Mother Empress Liviera. The latter also had no clue and could only look at his son.

Spade, who was staring at his aunt and observing her, blinked, and he politely yet casually spoke for Arren. "Arren wasn’t feeling well,"

"Ah, I see." Princess Noreen nodded and looked at Arren for a moment before having a short talk with Spade.

However, Mother Empress Liviera seemed to notice that something was wrong as he kept silent at the side before shifting his gaze to the three of them and focusing on Arren, who seemed to be still in a daze.

His eyes narrowed before he turned his gaze away.

Arren also snapped out of his thoughts but still kept his mouth shut.

"Royal Mother, Aunt, we’ll head to our seats," Spade said as Arren was dragged to their seat at the center. Arren had no strength in his knees, so all his weight was already transferred to the alpha.

Spade’s face was composed, but as Arren was finally seated, his gaze flickered to the side where Princess Noreen was talking to his omega father. A conflicted emotion flashed across his eyes before he focused on Arren again.

"Are you okay here?" the alpha whispered.

Arren nodded, smiling to reassure him. "Do what you need to do; I’m fine."

After convincing the alpha, the ceremony proceeded smoothly after that. It was a formal event, to begin with, and it had a solemn atmosphere it. The whole ceremony lasted only an hour, with Spade’s speech taking up half of the total time.

Arren was so absentminded the whole time that he couldn’t even remember what the alpha was saying or what they did after. His mind couldn’t help but wander to the reason he was afraid of Princess Noreen.

This time, he couldn’t ignore it anymore. Spade already knew of this fear that if he didn’t say anything after seeing him in that condition, the alpha might respect his silence, but who knew what he was thinking? Arren wanted to be honest. He thought it was already time to tell all the things in his mind to Spade gradually.

Their relationship was solid, he was certain of that. Arren could now lessen his burden by learning how to trust someone and not hide everything inside of him.

He already decided that, from now on, Arren would gradually tell Spade the truth and what he knew. Revealing them all at once might even backfire, so little by little, he would lead the alpha to the idea that he was reincarnated in this world.

His instincts told him that this was the right path he should take, but Arren needed help deciphering a lot of ’whys’ in his mind. He admits he wasn’t smart, he was impulsive, and he even had an escapism mentality.

He had a lot of negative traits and flaws. However, when he was in Spade’s arms, Arren was confident that the alpha would accept him with his whole heart.

"Let’s go back," Arren said without stopping his pace, He fled from the place as though his butt was on fire. He was now with Rave after the ceremony, as Spade still had a closed-door meeting and he didn’t need to attend that.

The event wasn’t completely over, but that was for all the citizens of the empire; it was to hold a lantern lighting in the evening. The small ceremony in the main square was over, and it was now open for everyone again.

After entering the car with Rave, who was dragged inside by him, Arren immediately ordered them to depart.

"Why are you in a hurry?" Rave whispered that, as there was still someone aside from them inside the car, he couldn’t be too casual with Arren unlike when it was only the two of them.

’Of course, I am fleeing from your mother-in-law.’ he muttered inside.

There was such a possibility that she would talk with him again. He didn’t care about being called rude at this point by Princess Noreen, and Arren could only apologize to Mother Empress Liviera in his heart.

"I don’t like crowds so much," he shrugged and leaned on his seat, finally heaving a sigh of relief. This day, his energy was truly spent.

Ever since Arren’s days have always been so eventful that he has wanted to take a vacation. If he continued to be isolated in the palace, he might really develop social society and his otaku nature would come back.

Rave stared at him, obviously not believing him. For an extrovert like him, hating crowds was really unbelievable. Arren didn’t care if the other didn’t believe him since he wasn’t hoping to convince him and he was just bullshitting to get the hell out of that place.

Fortunately, the white-haired omega wasn’t a very gossipy person, and he fell silent. Silence shrouded them for a moment, and it was rare that it was Rave who broke the silence between them.

"It seems Chief Levin is not your head bodyguard?" the omega asked out of nowhere, noticing that Levin was not with them as they headed back to the palace.

After the incident, even though Arren was only in the palace, his vicinity was tightly guarded, and Levin was almost his head bodyguard. It was indeed noticeable that he wasn’t with them.

"Why is that a problem? He is technically Spade’s chief royal guard," Arren had a point that Rave couldn’t even refute.

However, inside of him, he already had a guess at the reason. This was also one of the reasons that he didn’t want to tell Spade about his fear of Princess Noreen.

This was only an indication of Spade starting to observe Levin, who was once his most trusted aide. He didn’t want to risk anything, even though he trusted Levin, as Arren was truly scared of Princess Noreen, who was his mother.

Arren had conflicted emotions about it. For him, he never once suspected Levin because of the novel, as he was part of the protagonist. However, he already acknowledged that the novel was only a reference, and the character roles were part of that.

So, he tacitly ignored it and chose to trust Spade instead, and he didn’t dissuade him. He only hoped that his alpha wouldn’t develop excessive trust issues, which was a common trait of monarchs in the historical dramas he watched before. Since it was really a poison that would gradually erode his rule.

After a while, he called out, "Rave."

"What is it?" the other responded.

Arren shot a glance at the white-haired omega and stared at him. He wanted to ask, ’Can I trust you?’ but he had a guess at what his answer would be.

He might say... ’Why do you need to trust me?’ in his graceful tone which was annoying to his ears.

He couldn’t help but laugh at his thoughts, which made Rave’s brow furrow in confusion.

"What do you think of an adventure?" he asked, completely without context, as he added, "Let’s go on a vacation, Rave."

Actually, what he wanted to say was... ’I hope I can trust you, Rave.’
