The Emperor's Omega Is An Extra
Chapter 104: Aftermath

Chapter 104: Aftermath

After they took a shower one after another, they slept together while embracing each other tightly. Things might not be peaceful from now on, but at least they were still in each other’s arms. That was enough.

While they might be trying to sleep off the sorrow and fear they experienced that day. The empire and the whole world weren’t peaceful as the news of the terrorist attack in the empire during the opening of the Moonlight Festival erupted.

All sorts of news from the official media were released, along with the audience’s witness from the broadcast of the opening and also the testimonies of the live attendees. The whole world and the internet were bustling with activity, and it wouldn’t calm down anytime soon.

As the empire that held hegemony in the world was the one affected, this garnered even more attention and also sparked fear. Since the powerful Present Empire was caught off guard and suffered such a terrorist attack, what about their country, which wasn’t as powerful as the empire? It might even be more vulnerable to these attacks!

Instantly, panicked reactions enveloped everyone, who immediately requested that their governments pay attention to this emerging terrorist. As they dared to attack the empire, it wasn’t possible that they would attack the other countries next.

Due to changes to the plot that Arren knew, unlike from the novel, what happened in the opening speech of Spade didn’t become a scandalous stain on his rule that would make the people doubt how safe the empire really was as they really claimed.

In the current situation, everyone’s attention is on the culprit of this terrorist attack. They were sympathizing with the empire and hoped that the organization would be caught for the stability and peace of the world.

Who knew if the people on the internet were sincere or only getting clout for themselves? But the reactions of the world leaders were real, as they immediately contacted the empire through reliable diplomacy channels. The matter of cooperation and other matters would be decided by the emperor, but at this moment, no one dared to disturb him.

The next day, Arren opened his eyes and immediately met Spade’s amber eyes. He was taken aback for a split second before a soft smile appeared on his lips.

"Are you watching me sleep?" he asked in a slightly hoarse voice and an accusing tone. However, it was obvious that he wasn’t serious about it.

Spade also smiled, seeing that he could already joke around; it could be seen that he had already slightly recovered from the setbacks of yesterday.

"Mm, does it make you uncomfortable?" the alpha asked as he touched Arren’s face and gently caressed his jaw. Arren slightly closed his eyes, savoring the loving touch of the alpha.

He shook his head, but it only appeared as though he was brushing his face on Spade’s hand in a very coquettish manner. The alpha’s eyes darkened but were ultimately suppressed, and he then leaned his head and kissed the space between Arren’s eyebrows.

"Let’s get up. Are you hungry?" Spade softly asked him again, and in this tone, Arren seemed to understand that he was still being careful with his words. It was as though Arren were a fragile glass that would shatter at any moment.

If it was any other day or the one treating him like this wasn’t Spade, Arren might be offended. However, at this moment, his mood had not yet fully recovered, and he was still shaken by what he experienced last night. In fact, he also discovered that being treated gently like this wasn’t that bad.

At least, it gave him an excuse to not do anything and let the other care for him.

"Yeah, I’m already starving," he responded with a small smile on his lips and a nod of his head.

Spade didn’t say anything, but his smile had broadened, seemingly pleased with his answer.

With persuasion from Spade, Arren managed to get up from the bed. He went to the bathroom first and prepared himself, he still had his clothes in this room.

Spade went after him as Arren sat in the bed, waiting for Spade. His mood had not yet been lifted, but compared to last night, it was actually better.

Fortunately, he was someone who could move forward much faster than the average person. For him, he never really thought it was a bad thing to move on from something. Moving on didn’t mean what he felt wasn’t real; it meant choosing not to suffer emotionally about it for longer than necessary.

Sometimes, Arren also knew that his escapism mentality was never a good thing. It even contrasted with him most of the time. While he wanted a carefree life, and living in the moment was his motto, sometimes he coped with his problems by hiding them deep behind him and then pretending that they never happened.

Rather than saying he was living a carefree life, it was more like a half-reckless, half-carefree life at most.

It was fully displayed when he chose to escape from his reality by not wanting to meet the characters before. So, it gave him the illusion that everything was okay as long as he never encountered them.

These days, he has been letting himself stop this mentality by facing the problems head-on and accepting the reality more and more. However, like his reader’s perspective, which had been there for years, it was actually harder to change someone’s personality and mentality than one’s worldview.

It didn’t take long for Spade to come out of the bathroom, and he was already well-dressed and looking very dignified. Arren always had this misconception that as the Emperor, he would have these attendants with him to help him dress like those historical movies he watched.

He even teased the alpha about it before but discovered that other than in ancient times, the practice was not applicable anymore.

"Are you ready?" Spade immediately inquired as he approached him in bed.

Arren only watched him close the distance between them, the familiar playful smile appeared on his lips. Although not as bright as usual, it gave reassurance that his mood was getting better.

After Spade stood in front of him, Arren clung to him and wrapped his arms around the alpha’s waist. His face was in Spade’s abdomen as the alpha’s hand caressed his head softly before he looked down at him.

"I thought you were already starving?" he asked, grinning slightly while brushing his hair.

Arren pursed his lips, tightened his hold on the alpha’s waist, and pulled him closer to himself. Most days, he was really affectionate toward Spade, but it was even more so at this moment.

"Yeah, I am," he agreed and then continued, burying his face in the alpha’s abdomen, "but I also want to hug you." His voice was slightly muffled, but his words were still clear.

Spade chuckled, making his abdomen vibrate. Arren lifted his head and looked up at the alpha.

"I know, you can hug me all you want." He paused, smiling, and continued, "But we have to eat first, and... Royal Mother and my aunt are already waiting for us in the dining room."

The moment those were uttered by Spade, the smile on Arren’s lips faded.
