The Emperor's Omega Is An Extra -
Chapter 103: Temporary Curtain Call
Chapter 103: Temporary Curtain Call
After their extreme showings of affection for each other, Spade and Arren had become so close that no one was letting go of each other. Even when Spade was instructing and ordering his subordinates to handle the aftermath, his arms were still around Arren.
While Arren was also clinging tightly to the alpha, he didn’t let go even when his father was already talking to the alpha and they discussed something.
No one commented on this behavior of theirs, and no one even dared to notice it. As for the Duke, he also understood that the two of them, after what happened, needed time for each other.
Spade also solemnly bowed that he would pursue those that escape and the individuals that were still hiding in the capital, and even the entire empire. It wasn’t only for Arren, but for those fallen royal guards who did their duty.
In his opinion, this incident not only related to Arren and the attempt to kidnap him, but it was already about the safety and order of the Empire and the world. The organization showed its fangs on the Empire boldly; they couldn’t be ignored anymore and they must take action.
The incident had a temporary curtain call for now; neither side was willing to start a full-scale war yet this early. However, with the ambition and disrespect they showed, war was imminent. Spade would not back down either; whether it was the empire’s destruction or the organization’s, surrender was never an option.
Spade was prepared to fight until the end.
However, there was something more important for him to focus on. He glanced at the omega in his arms, who was clutching tightly to him, and he couldn’t help but be distressed.
What happened today would undoubtedly leave a scar on Arren, and he couldn’t do anything about it. He knew that this was only the beginning; when the war started between them, the omega would be exposed again to this kind of battlefield. In this case, he and Duke Evan had similar opinions.
Wanting to shield someone from the cruel side of the world because you love him was never a good idea. In these chaotic times, being aware is one of the best protections that someone needs.
"Arren, do you want to return to your mansion or the palace?" Spade asked; they were sitting inside the car and still not leaving the area.
However, they had to enter the car as the ambulances had arrived, and even some media got wind of this news as they were already on the scene. This commotion was too big, and sealing this incident from the media and public was impossible.
Spade also didn’t intend to hide and decided to let the empire and the world be aware of the terror of this organization this early on. Of course, some truths need to be concealed. They wouldn’t mention its name, only calling it an emerging terrorist. It was even more so due to the reason for the battle; Spade didn’t want Arren to be mentioned or related to this matter.
Arren heard Spade and lifted his head to look at the alpha, he was also currently circled in the alpha’s arms and sitting in his lap. Unlike last time, this position was only giving them warmth and comfort for each other.
He thought for a moment and responded.
"I want to be with you," his answer, which was vague but also easy to understand. He could also return to the Katz Mansion, the palace, or some other residence, as long as Spade was with him.
He knew his father would understand him, as sometimes there were things that only one’s lover could fulfill. Arren wanted to be with his alpha and even poured out all his hidden emotions and distressing thoughts.
While he was with his father, he always wanted to be tough so as not to worry him, but it wasn’t the same for Spade. He could openly reveal his emotions since he already had a lot of experience doing so.
Spade nodded and caressed his head as if satisfied with this answer. He was indeed so; like Arren, he also wanted to be with the omega so much. The fear that he felt while rushing into Arren’s position had nearly made him insane.
The impatience and the hopelessness during those moments made him feel so powerless that he almost hated himself. All sorts of scenarios also began to invade his mind, so that, if not for his extreme control over his emotions, his rationality had already crumbled.
He didn’t want to experience it again, and Spade was certain he would have nightmares about it.
"The palace," the alpha ordered the driver. Arren remained silent and leaned into Spade’s chest, then closed his eyes.
He didn’t even fight, and yet his mind was extremely exhausted. Since his nerves were so tense earlier, it wasn’t surprising that he would become like this.
However, he didn’t really sleep fully in the car, some of his consciousness was still awake. Even though his grip on Spade’s clothes had not loosened, the fear in his system wasn’t completely gone.
So, when Spade carried him, Arren opened his eyes.
"Did I wake you up?" Spade gently asked in a hushed tone as he started his steps into the palace while Arren was in his arms.
Arren shook his head and responded, "I’m not really asleep." He then held onto Spade’s shoulders as though supporting himself, even if it was unnecessary to do so as Spade would definitely not let him fall.
The palace was still in silence, but there were white and almost blue lanterns decorated in the hallways that served as lights.
It didn’t take long, and they had already arrived in Spade’s room. Arren didn’t have to roam his eyes around, as he had stayed in this room for a few weeks.
However, he also relaxes considerably. He could finally confirm that they were now safe. Arren was put to bed by Spade, but his hand still held on to the alpha without letting go.
He also happened to notice the bloodstains on Spade’s clothes, Arren bit his lower lip and touched his clothes. Since his mind was distraught earlier, he didn’t manage to notice and observe the alpha’s condition.
"Are you okay? Do you have any injuries?" Arren answered while touching the bloodstained clothes on the alpha’s abdomen and even in his chest; as his royal suit was light in color, the contrast was even more apparent.
As a result, his hand was also stained, and since their bodies had been squeezed tightly earlier, he was sure even his clothes were also stained.
Spade held his hand and gently grasped it as though cleaning the blood in his hands. As he lifted his head and looked at the alpha, their eyes met.
While holding his hand, he also touched his chin and softly caressed it. Spade smiled before responding to him, "I’m not hurt, don’t worry."
Arren stared at him, not knowing if he could trust this answer, and his thoughts were reflected in his expression, causing the alpha to let out a chuckle, amused by his reaction.
Although confused as to why the alpha suddenly chuckled, Arren didn’t comment on it, as it helped lighten their mood, at least.
"I’m saying the truth, I’m not injured," he repeated, his tone sincere and reassuring.
"I’m glad," Arren replied, relieved about this. And before he said anything else, Spade had tightly engulfed him in an embrace again.
Arren responded without saying anything as he heard Spade’s voice in his ears.
"I’m also glad you’re safe." Spade’s simple words once again implied an even deeper emotion within. And for that, it was enough that they both know.
