Chapter 96: reassuring her wife

Chapter 96: Chapter 96: reassuring her wife

"Wife... is Jane really going to live here?"

Zara looked toward the staircase as Grace descended gracefully, now wearing modern clothes.

Zara hesitated for a moment before nodding slowly.

"I guess so," she said, extending her hand toward grace.

Grace reached out and held it. Feeling the softness of Grace’s smaller hand in hers, Zara gently squeezed, lips curling into a subtle smile.

Jane who was watching from a distance, muttered with a scowl.

"What now, even this shorty wants me gone?"

Grace’s eyes narrowed suddenly, a chill entering her gaze.

"Jane... you remember what happened last time you called me shorty, right?"

Jane flinched immediately as a vivid memory hit her—

Flashback – Vampire Realm, Duel Grounds

The intense duel between Lilith and Jane had just ended. Both stood on the field, breathing heavily still looking toward each other with fighting spirit.

From the sidelines, Grace placed her hands on her hips and remarked calmly:

"Whoa, that was a close call. Sister almost had you—if her sword hadn’t missed jane."

Lilith smirked smugly and look toward jane proudly.

"She’s right. I let it become a draw. If I’d wanted to win, I would have easily."

Jane clenched her fists, her white hair slowly shifting back to black as her muscles relaxed.

"What did you say, shorty?! I dodged that strike. She used all her strength, and it still didn’t land—there’s no way she could’ve beaten me!"

Beside her, Lilith giggled mischievously, covering her mouth.

Jane narrowed her eyes.

"What? Why are you smiling like that?"

Lilith pointed toward Grace.

Jane turned—and her lips started to twitch.

Grace stood there, gripping a massive sword, Her expression turned glacial. A dangerous, red aura bled from her body like mist.

A jolt of alarm shot through Jane as she turned slowly back toward Lilith.

"H-Hey, bloodsucker... why do I feel fear? I’m stronger than your sister, aren’t I?"

Lilith only shrugged with an innocent smile.

Grace’s voice came, speaking coldly and her eyes looking at jane sharply.

"What did you just call me? Shorty, huh?"

Jane gave a nervous grin. Her hair turned white again as she spun around.

"No—nope—I’m out!"

She dashed away at a blinding speed.

Behind her, Grace chased, swinging her massive sword without pause.

Back to Present

A sword suddenly appeared in Grace’s hand as her powerful aura began to leak out.

Dust sifted from the ceiling as the entire mansion groaned under the pressure. A low hum vibrated through the floorboards, and the glass in the windows began to whine in their frames.

Zara’s eyes widened the moment she saw the sword.

Without thinking, she rushed forward and wrapped her arms around Grace from behind, holding her tightly as Grace’s cold gaze locked onto Jane.

Jane gave a nervous, wry smile, taking a cautious step back.

"Ah—uh—I wasn’t talking about you, Grace! not at all!"

Beside her, Lilith snickered.

"Yeah, Grace, I heard her too. She definitely meant you just now."

Jane grit her teeth in frustration.

"Can’t you shut up, Lilith?!"

Lilith just smiled sweetly and looked away, enjoying the Scene.

As the mansion shook more violently, cracks forming in the walls from Grace’s growing power, Zara quickly cupped Grace’s chin and pulled her into a kiss.

"Mmmhmm..."

Grace’s fierce aura gradually faded, the shaking stopped—and she melted into Zara’s arms, the sword vanishing from her hand.

As the mansion stopped shaking, Zara let out a deep sigh of relief. She held her wife close, whispering into her ear,

"Is your anger gone now?"

Grace leaning against Zara’s chest, gave a small pout before nodding.

"Mhm."

Lilith stood nearby with arms crossed, watching the two hold each other and gaze into one another’s eyes with soft affection. She quickly looked away, lips pressed together in a pout.

’W-Why am I having these thoughts?’’She loves me and Grace equally... so why does it feel like I’m being left behind?’

A smile touched Zara’s lips as Grace melted against her. But when she glanced toward Lilith, the warmth in her chest turned to ache. Lilith stood rigidly, her arms crossed so tightly her knuckles were white. Her gaze was fixed on the floorboards, and the corner of one eye glistened with a tear she refused to let fall.

Zara’s expression turned serious. She reached out, took both Grace and Lilith’s hands, and gently led them toward the bedroom.

Behind them, Jane scratched her head and sighed as she watched them go.

’Why did I even come to this realm without thinking?’’I just heard from Aunt Nyssa that they were here, and I ran off... Is it because I thought Zara was cool after she defeated Duke Omar in raw strength?’

She quickly shook her head, trying to dispel the thought.

’No, no—I shouldn’t think like that. She’s Lilith and grace wife. And Father would never approve of me marrying someone from another race anyway...’

Zara’s Bedroom:

Zara carefully sat both her wives down on the edge of the bed, then knelt in front of them on one knee.

Grace tilted her head seeing her kneeling, confused.

"W-What are you doing, dear?"

Zara didn’t answer immediately. She gently held both their hands, then looked up, meeting Lilith’s eyes first.

"Lilith... Am I not a good wife? Am I doing something wrong in our relationship?"

Her voice was soft and vulnerable.

Lilith’s eyes widened. She quickly shook her head, alarmed.

"No! You’re my wife—I love you more than anything in this world!"

Then Zara turned to Grace and asked the same question.

Grace looked at her with gentle, unwavering affection.

"Darling... why would you even think that? We love you more than anything. You’re the best."

Zara sighed, a mixture of guilt and relief washing over her. She reached up and wiped the small trace of wetness near Lilith’s eye.

"Then please, Lilith... tell me. Did I do something that made you feel like I didn’t love you? If I did—can you forgive me?"

Lilith quickly shook her head, voice trembling slightly.

"No, you didn’t do anything wrong," she whispered, refusing to meet Zara’s eyes. "It’s me. It’s just... when you hold her like that... for a moment, I feel like I disappear. I know it’s stupid."

Grace’s eyes widened at her sister’s words, her heart aching with a mix of surprise and understanding.

Zara gently cupped Lilith’s chin, lifting her face. She leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to her lips.

"No, my wife. You’re not stupid—you’re smart and sensitive. And it’s okay to feel this way sometimes. But don’t ever think I love you any less."

She looked between them with warmth in her gaze.

"You both are my wives. I love you equally, fully, and forever."

Lilith blinked as a single tear escaped, but this time it was from relief—and happiness.

Grace reached over and held her hand tightly, whispering:

"We’re a family, Lilith. Always."

U.S.A. – Fort Liberty Military Base

Fort Liberty—one of the largest and most heavily guarded military bases in the United States.

Civilians knew it as the premier training ground for elite secret teams. But what they didn’t know... was that beneath the surface, far from public eyes, an even larger underground facility operated—handling matters too dangerous to reveal to the world, if civilians know they will start overthrowing government’s.

In one such underground control room, a heavily built man barked orders as dozens of personnel worked furiously at their terminals.

"Zoom in on that location. Now." He pointed at one of the screens, voice sharp and commanding.

The operator nodded and adjusted the controls. The screen zoomed in—but revealed nothing other than space.

Blair narrowed his eyes, frustration creeping into his expression.

’How is this possible? Why can’t we detect them? We know they received our signal... They even send signals of their spaceships.’

Grinding his teeth, he shook his head and turned toward the others.

"Sweep more high-risk zones. If you find anything suspicious—anything—call me immediately."

"Yes, General!" came the unified response.

Blair let out a long sigh and walked out of the command center, his heavy boots echoing through the sterile hallway. As he rounded a corner, he suddenly stopped and glanced behind him.

No one was there.

He tilted his head slightly, eyes scanning the empty corridor.

’I could’ve sworn someone was following me...’

Seeing no sign of movement, he sighed again and muttered under his breath.

’Those damn priests’... I’m starting to get paranoid because of them.’

He continued on, nearing toward his office. When he opened the door, his instincts flared. The room was pitch dark nothing could be seen.

Immediately, his hand flew to his sidearm.

He stepped in cautiously, making his way to the light switch.

But before he could touch it, the lights flickered on automatically.

Click.

A cold voice echoed behind him.

"Blair... I warned you before, didn’t I?"

His entire body froze hearing the hoarse voice, he cautiously turn around seeing the man sitting on his chair looking toward him coldly.
