Chapter 95. He beats me.
Chapter 95: 95. He beats me.
"T_tell me." Her hands moved to Neriah’s shoulder and she shook her gently, "Tell me my lady, does he really hit you? Where does he hit you? Did he hit you this morning again?"
"N—" Neriah paused. Her eyes shifted to Riri who stared at the two of them with eyes that clearly trusted Barak. Eyes that were silently saying he couldn’t have done something like that. And this made Neriah jealous.
She was jealous that Barak had really gained the trust of her fairy and she felt betrayed. Felt like he was trying to steal everything away from her. Her home, her parents, her love, her joy, her entire world! He was taking things that belonged to her.
So she wanted to break it... The faith Riri had in him, she wanted to break it.
"Aye," she sobbed, and right on cue, the tears came flowing down her face, "I never wanted you to find out. I was going to endure it on my own... Because I have not been in this place for even two whole days, I felt that eventually he will stop. So I was going to suffer it on my own. I am sorry. I am so sorry, I did not intend to hide it from the two of you but—" She cried and palmed her face.
In between her fingers, she could see the look on Aria’s face. The hate, the anger, the burning rage... And then she could see Riri. Her dear Riri, she looked crushed. She looked like her little precious heart was just stabbed with a tiny needle.
And beneath her palms, a smirk curled up her lips as she knew very well she had scored one over Barak.
"H_he beat you?" Aria stuttered the words like she had asked the previous question with a little hope that it wasn’t true.
"Oh Aria," Neriah cried and buried her head upon Aria’s shoulder, "Because I refused to sleep with him. It is my fault. I should have known better. He is a barbarian after all. But even though I had made the mistake of sleeping with him that one time, I could not bring myself to lay with him again. I was disgusted so I refused him."
"W_what are you even saying?" Neriah could feel Aria tremble with anger. And it only boosted her desire to act even more.
"I know I should not have done that. But my body would not listen to reason. So I begged him not to touch me, but instead he beat me and took me by force." She cried and made her body tremble in Aria’s arms.
"H_he tore my dress in shreds and forced me onto the bed." She smirked inwardly as she thought to herself that she even had evidence of him tearing her dress. The torn dress still laid in a corner of their closet. Although all other parts of her story were fake, that bit was true. And thanks to his impatience to gently take off her dress, she had evidence to back her story.
"When I resisted further, he choked and beat me. Then he did it. He did it over and over again. And though I begged him to stop, he pressed me down and I was powerless against that brute. He raped me Aria! He manhandled me!!" She bawled and held Aria with all her might.
The side of her eyes caught a view of Riri and she could see tears trailing down the face of the little creature and lords did it give her immense joy.
"B_but if what you say is true, why are there no bruises?" Riri suddenly asked and Neriah’s eyes widened with shock. For a moment she had forgotten that she was not dealing with fools. Why did she not think of that?
What was she supposed to say?
"If indeed a man like Barak beat you up, I believe you will be covered in bruises, so why does your skin look radiant?" She inquired and Neriah could feel Aria’s hold on her body loose. She felt her push her gently from her body so she could stare at her.
Neriah nrw she had to think and she had to think really fast or else her story was poof! And Aria’s anger would be channeled to her.
"M_my lady?" Aria asked and Neriah bit her bottom lip, trying to figure out the perfect lie. "My la—"
"He gave me something to drink!" She suddenly yelled. "A_after he was done last night he had given me something to drink. He said it was some kind of healing potion." She prayed they bought it. She prayed desperately that they bought her lies.
"S_so you are really telling the truth." Riri suddenly said and Neriah and Aria turned to her. Her face was cupped in her little arms. "I was really hoping you were lying but you were telling the truth." She cried.
"Yesterday, around evening while I was with Prince Barni, His highness came to us and saw me showing prince Barni how to make a healing potion with the Layla flower. It is a very rare plant that when combined with my magic becomes a very effective healing potion. He had asked that I make some for him too because he wished to give it to someone who got hurt during training. I had no idea then that he was going to use it for this purpose." She cried even further and Neriah could not fathom how great her luck was. Things were working out for her!
Who would have known that Riri was making healing potions here and Barak a had taken some?!
"Did you not recognize the potion my lady? Riri always made healing potions for you in the past." Aria suddenly asked and Neriah’s eyes widened warily as she did not expect the direction the question was being thrown to.
"I_I—" Neriah stuttered as she struggled to find an answer to the new question that had been thrown before her. She had to give a reasonable answer!
