Chapter 94. Does he hit you?
Chapter 94: 94. Does he hit you?
By the time morning came and she flipped her lashes open, just as he always disappeared from her side when daylight came, he was gone and she was all alone on the huge bed.
She quickly noticed he had been gone for quite some time, he wasn’t even in the room and she felt some kind of emptiness within her. "Lyle’s letter!" She clapped her hands together as she remembered.
Immediately, she rose from the bed and first thing, she ran to the door of the bathroom. She placed her head on the door, pressing her ear upon it to see if she was accurate and he was really nowhere in the room. When she didn’t hear a thing, she pushed the door open, looked to her left and right. All was clear.
She ran into the closet, and picked out the stockings that held his letter. She shuffled out the new piece of paper, took in a deep breath and unfolded it.
"My dear beloved, it has been a while since I last spoke to you. I feel like my whole world is being ripped apart the longer I am away from you. I cannot tell you how much I yearn for the fragrance of your skin, the soft lush of your hair, the feel of your lips upon mine. I wish to see you, my love. Come to me. I write this letter in hopes that it reaches you safely in the palace. If it does, then meet me tomorrow at Alison’s store in Veralt market. ’Tis a store frequented by visitors and tourists of Trago, so you shall not stand out. I shall wait till noon in hopes that this letter reaches you. If you do not show by then, I shall take it that my effort to contact you was lost and shall try again. I love you, and I will wait for you. Please come to me. Sincerely, Lyle."
Not until she saw the wet drop on the paper she held did she realize that tears had filled her eyes. He was waiting for her! He was waiting for her right now! Even as she stood there holding that paper in her hands, her Lyle was somewhere hoping she would show up.
"Oh Lyle." She sobbed and placed a hand over her mouth. She then kissed the paper with her eyes closed. He missed her, he was missing her as much as she was missing him. She wanted to run to him that very instant. In fact she wished she could teleport into his arms.
"I will go to you, my love. Just wait for me. No matter what it takes, I will find a way to go to you." She whispered. She suddenly heard the main door to the room open and hurriedly, she hid the paper back into the stockings, wiped her wet face with the back of her hands, took in a deep breath and then stepped out.
"Your Highness!" It was Aria and surprisingly, Riri. "I have been calling for you for a while now." Aria said as she took closer steps toward her.
"Huh!" Riri suddenly gasped as she flew closer to Neriah’s face, "Have you been crying, my lady?!" Riri asked and Neriah’s eyes widened and she turned her face away from them both.
"W_What nonsense are you saying now? You have been having fun with those barbarians so much that your eyesight has become poor." She said and cleared her throat aloud, walking away from them, but Riri flew in front of her face again.
"Uh-uhn. You were crying. Look at your eyes, they are swollen. Aria am I wrong?" Riri insisted and Neriah was really getting nervous. She was not ready to tell them the truth about Lyle and her. More so now when Riri seemed to have been bewitched by the entire Trago Kingdom. What if she told them the truth and Riri went to tattle about it to Barak? She would not only be creating hell for herself in this already miserable palace, but also putting Lyle in danger.
She had to keep it a secret for now. No matter what!
"It is true. You were definitely crying. I have seen you cry, my lady. So I know how you look if you just cried, or even how you look in the morning if you cried yourself to sleep. But right now I can tell that you not only cried last night, but you were clearly crying before we entered." Aria pointed out and Neriah could see that at the rate they were going, she would have to say something because Aria was right, no one knew her better than she did.
"My Lady, tell us the truth—" Aria suddenly held her hands in her own, "look at me and tell me the truth," she urged, but Neriah’s head remained turned to the other side, "D_does he hit you?"
Aria’s voice trembled at the mere thought of her mistress being beaten, silent sobs were starting to choke her as Neriah’s head and eyes finally turned and stared back at her. The shock was evident in them and Aria’s breath caught in her throat.
"Does he? Really?" She asked again with her eyes opened wide.
"A_Aria that is not—"
"Aria, what are you saying? Why would His Highness ever hurt her? He is not that kind of per—"
"Riri be quiet!!" Aria roared and both Riri and Neriah jolted in shock. The little fairy trembled at the harshness in Aria’s voice. "How can you know what kind of beast he turns into at night?" She snapped. "How can you know the beastly things he does to her when they are alone? Do you spend the night with them?! So shut your mouth and let her talk!"
Neriah could swear she had never seen Aria this angry in her life. She sincerely looked like it was her little sister, her blood sister who was suffering and was ready to fight heaven and hell for her sake.
