The Dragon Prince's Bride
Chapter 156. Your bundle of joy.

Chapter 156: 156. Your bundle of joy.

""Commander go! Get the princess out of here. It won’t calm down until she is out of here!"" The knight screamed facts that Regina already knew.

She stared at the knight diligently fighting off the shadows with all the fireballs he could conjure. He was right, "There is no time to waste!" Regina yelled as she took Neriah’s hand, practically dragging her off the ground with no care of her current physical state. If they made it out alive, they could worry about wounds.

With the conviction that their lives depended on it, Regina ran even faster than her legs could carry them. But Neriah leapt as they ran and Regina had no choice but to let out her wings. They were big and black just like the hair on her head.

She pulled Neriah close to her body and flapped her wings to take off only to be slammed back onto the ground with her back pressing into the hard rocky ground.

She looked back and saw that the shadow had extended branches and had bypassed the knight and stretched one branch to hold them back. Regina tightened her grip on the sword and it was ablaze in the same moment. With the flaming sword, she sliced the shadow that held her wings down, but they were encompassing her faster than she could handle.

However, she wasn’t a commander for nothing. Her grip on the flaming sword tightened even more and the fire increased. With one long round swing, an arc of fire sliced the entire shadows that threatened to cover her and snatch the princess.

She freed herself, buying them some seconds as the Demon screamed and the shadows began to gather together again.

"Now! We must keep running till Bar comes!" Regina yelled and held her hand, pulling Neriah to her feet, only for Neriah to halt and refuse to move.

"What! You told him? He is coming here?!" She screamed and at that very moment, Regina itched to slap her. She could not believe the princess was thinking about that now! When she was about to lose her life.

"Princess, of course I told him! There is no time for this! We must go!" Regina reminded her as she saw the shadows taking form again, spreading out like branches.

She looked and saw that the knight who was the last man standing was already on the ground exhausted. The poor man must have exerted all his fire core. At least he did not look wounded or dead. If Barak came in time, the knight would make it. But then...

"Oh no! I cannot face him! I cannot face his anger! I would rather become food for whatever that is than face his anger. He will throttle me!" Neriah shook her head much to Regina’s irritation. The lady had never felt such a strong desire to slap a person in the face. And very hard. What in the world was she even saying! How did that make sense?!!!

"I cannot go, I—" before she could say anything further, Regina pulled her hand and yanked her towards herself, swinging the sword one more time as a branch of the shadow had tried to take Neriah yet again. As she held her close to her body, Regina could feel her trembling.

She wondered if she trembled because of fear of death by the Demon that wanted her or fear of her husband’s anger.

"We must go!" Regina yelled and pulled Neriah, but the princess was an idiot who refused to move.

"Neriah!" Regina yelled out her name before she could even realize it. "Are you out of your mind?! If you were so terrified of Barak’s anger, why in Narcissus’ name did you defy him?!" She yelled and did not wait for a response before pulling her along.

Flapping her wings and taking them off the ground. Again, the shadow caught her by her wing. Holding on to both of her wings this time around. It tugged at her, but she did not let it pull her down. She swung her fiery sword again at it and it released her. The further she flew the more it followed her and the paler Neriah was becoming. It was suckling her life force.

"There! Almost there!" Regina yelled as the pulley came in sight, but just as they near it, the shadow caught up to them again, this time holding a firmer grip on Regina’s wings and an even firmer grip on Neriah’s arms and legs. It pulled the two apart.

"Ahhh!" Regina screamed as it pulled at her wings as though it was trying to rip it. "Ahhh!" She screamed and tried to swing her world but the pain she was feeling made her attempt hard as the sword fell from her hand.

Trying to conjure a huge fireball to set herself free, her eyes went to Neriah who was still floating in air while holding on to a torch that hung on the wall. Not allowing the shadow to drag her away. But then Neriah touched the wood that held the touch and the moment Regina saw twigs coming out of the wood, she knew Neriah was using her powers.

"Neriah! No, do not use your powers!!" She screamed but the twigs already bursted out from the wood and launched toward the shadows that held Regina’s wing. Instantly, the shadows released Regina, causing her to fall to the ground.

Quickly, she moved her feet and ran towards Neriah as the dark shadows began to wrap around the twigs, merging with them in spiral patterns, following that pattern and heading back to Neriah...

""Oh No! Barak, where are you?"" Regina began to send huge balls of fire toward the mixture of twisted twigs and shadows that were moving toward Neriah who was clearly about to pass out.

That was only natural because using her powers only gave the Demon an easier access to drain her life force by using the twigs as a connection to her. So in other words, she was dying slowly.

At that moment, a loud thud sounded and instantaneously, she turned to see that the man she called for had landed heavily on the platform. In his hand were two huge gourds and Regina instantly breathed a sigh of relief as she realized he had brought it with him.

When she sent Aria to him, she had hoped he would not be too distraught or distracted and forget to go fetch the important weapon to keep that nasty beast in check.

He merely exchanged glances with Regina and she nodded to acknowledge him as he walked past her briskly with his eyes on his wife and with his teeth he uncocked the covers of the gourds and poured out their content on his wife.

The action caused a loud shriek to echo throughout the dungeon and the shadows that were merged with the twigs and holding Neriah dissipated, allowing the woman to fall down. But Regina was quick enough to catch her while Barak focused on pouring more of the liquid that was inside the gourd.

The more he poured the further the shadows retracted and he followed them, till he was out of sight.

Regina sat down there with Neriah in her hand. She was already out cold. She pressed two of her fingers upon her neck to feel her pulse, it was faint. Very faint... but also strange.

Soon after, some more knights began to land on the platform entering into the dungeon with their weapons ready for fight and Regina let out a soft chuckle at the sight while resting her head and back against a wall. ""All this for the curiosity of a princess."" She thought.

At that instant all she could hear was the loud deafening screams of the Demon. And at some point, the scream grew even louder and she could tell Barak had reached the prison of the demon and probably poured the rest of the liquid into the prison.

After some time , the screams ceased.

It was finally over

""We need to get her to the physician. I am exhausted. Come and carry h—""

""I will do it."" Barak’s voice sounded from somewhere and she turned her head to see him flying toward her. He landed and went in one knee before her, but his eyes were on the little witch he married.

He stared at her pale face for a second and Regina could see the anger in those eyes, but what clouded the anger was worry and fear. He loved her, Regina could see it very clearly now.

He took his wife from her arms and finally looked at Regina. ""I am sorry reg. Thank you."" He said and tried to force a laugh as he said, "" You look terrible."" But the laugh didn’t come so she did it for him. She grinned brightly.

""Thanks to your bundle of joy."" She retorted. ""Now go. She needs treatment instantly.""
