Chapter 100: 100. Fight in Alison’s store.
"Out of the way!" Someone called out and she turned in time to see a carriage and its horses trotting towards her. She quickly moved out of the way before she was run over by horses! Almost tumbling over too.
"How dare you!" She hissed as she regained her balance.
""Forgive a lowly coachman My Lady, but you were on the way."" The man spoke tragonian and she did not know what he said, but she could tell he wasn’t apologizing by the look on his face. And even if he was, he did not mean it!
"You lowlife beast! Do you even know who I am!! I am—" She suddenly paused as she remembered she was not supposed to give out her name right now. She had even carried a cloak with a hood to conceal her hair color so as not to draw attention to herself.
People would not recognize her since she had arrived at night when they welcomed her and the rest of the royal family.
"You mark my words! I will find you someday and I will get my revenge for your insolence!" She hissed and turned to walk into the store only to be halted by a sudden giggle.
"If you did not wish to be hit then you should have stepped out of the way." The giggling person said and Neriah turned around to see a lady climbing down from the carriage. She could even speak her language.
"What?" Neriah’s brows furrowed.
The lady in question now stood in front of Neriah in a voluminous blue dress, designed with what seemed to be real roses. And she did smell of roses. So much so that it was choking.
In her hand she held a fan that she used in covering half her face.
"Am I wrong? Look around you Lady, can you not see that carriages are trooping in from every corner on this side? Why then would you stand in the middle of a place like this gazing into the sky?" The effrontery of the woman!
"I was not gazing into the sky!" Neriah retorted. "I was merely reading the words on the sign before you and your coach almost ran me over!" She was so mad.
"Whatever. Hmph." The lady scoffed and tossed a lock of her sun-gold hair over her shoulders, allowing Neriah to notice something that she had not noticed since! Her ear was abnormal. It was not pointed, which only meant one thing!!
"Human!" Neriah frowned and saying the word out loud only left a very unpleasant taste in her mouth! It was disgusting. The only thing she hated more than dragonbloods were humans!
They were always trying to conquer everything and everyone! Always trying to learn the secrets of everyone, always meddling in other nations business! Always causing trouble! "No wonder." Neriah hissed.
Thus was not the first time she was meeting a human and her previous experience wasn’t so good either. Oh lords! How she wished she had enough time to really face her, she would have given her some take-home words that would last for all eternity. But Lyle...
"Foolish creature." Neriah hissed and made her way toward the door only to be pushed to the side by the human girl and that was the limit of her patience! She didn’t have to act like a princess anyway! No one knew who she was.
So with her slip fingers, she landed a grip on the ladies hair causing the young woman to cry out in pain. Pulling her by her hair, Neriah dragged her out of the door.
"Are you out of your mind?! Are you an animal? How can you drag a lady by the hair, do you know who I am, do you know how much this hairdo costs?!" The girl screamed and tried to get Neriah’s fingers out of her hair. By then her beautiful black hand fan had fallen to the ground. One of her shoes had slipped out of her leg as she staggered and fought for her hair at the same time.
"I will say the same to you! Do you know who I am? How dare you lowlife, good for nothing, vulgar piece of trash push me! First you tried to kill me and because I was so gracious and kind, I let you go in all my benevolence! And then what? You push me? Me! Pushed by you who looks like mashed potatoes that have been mixed with mud." Neriah scoffed and chuckled. "I cannot believe this is happening. I am so short of words." By this time many people had gathered around the store, nobles and commoners alike. All watching the show.
"Whoever you are, I will make you pay for this insolence so let go of my hair right now!" The human girl was saying and Neriah’s laughter grew so loud that she feared she might choke. "I will count from one to three, if you do not let go by then, I will show you who I truly am." She said and Neriah’s laughter sounded again and it was contagious for everyone who was standing around watching the show also began to laugh.
"One! TWO!! TH— Ack!" The human girl shrieked as a solid slap landed viciously on her face. "You! How dare you slap me!!" The lady cried out and finally raised her hand to grab for Neriah’s hair too, but a sudden kick to her calf brought her to her knees on the dry ground and Neriah shoved her face into the ground, finally letting go of her hair.
"You better be grateful that I am here to meet—" She paused as she almost let the words slip. She cleared her throat aloud and continued, "M_meet the many different kinds of things that this store has to offer so I do not have time to deal with you. If ever our paths cross again, be sure to run for your life because then I would really beat the life out of your body." She lifted her leg as if to kick the lady again and the woman flinched in fear causing everyone to laugh and point.
Neriah turned back toward the door waving and smiling at the onlookers who were clapping and cheering her on. She could not understand a thing they were saying, but she loved the attention so...
Finally, she entered the store and her eyes opened wide! It was bigger and brighter on the inside than it looked on the outside! There were clothes, endless rolls of clothes. Men and women clothing of different types and traditions. Was that all?
No!
"Look at those shoes." Her eyes twinkle as she saw the section for shoes all lined up at another side of the store. That section was only for shoes. The deeper she walked into the store, the more she was being enchanted by what she saw.
The name was just a facade! This was not a normal store!!!
A lady suddenly popped up in front of her. A tragonian... she was saying something and Neriah could not understand what. The only thing she could get was that the lady was switching from one language to another. Was she trying to get her language?
"Then are you Avelian by any chance?" The lady finally said and Neriah smiled brightly.
"Yes!"
"Ah ha!" The lady clapped victoriously. "Then come this way please. We have the trending Avelian attires in store that would be perfect for a beauty like yourself and might I say you are quite the gem my lady." The lady complimented and Neriah blushed.
Following the Lady whom Neriah got to learn was called Aina, Neriah toured the Alison’s store, completely ridden of the fact that she actually entered the store for a purpose.
That was until she felt that familiar touch, that tender brush of his finger upon the back of her hand, accompanied by a whisper, "My love" Her voice was caught. The intense giddiness she had been feeling while shopping for clothes had quickly washed away and was replaced by intense remorse, then happiness, then remorse again.
She turned around but she did not see a thing. All she saw was unfamiliar faces, shopping for things that concerned them. She turned her head every which way but he was nowhere.
"Was I hearing things?" She wondered. "But I felt his touch." She muttered.
And wondered if her mind had conjured the feeling of his hands too.
"Are you taking that dress too?" Neriah the lady asked Neriah and she nodded absentmindedly. "Are you sure you will not be needing anything more? Jewelry perhaps?" She asked again and Neriah just nodded again, still looking around to see if she would catch a glimpse of someone who looked a little like him.
"Alright then, I shall wrap these up for you." She calmly stated and walked away, leaving Neriah to look at more designs.
"My love." She heard his voice and this time, she was sure of it.
