The Devil's Good Girl
Chapter 90: For safety purposes

Chapter 90: For safety purposes

Big glasses that could cover his chiseled face, messy, and curly hair that extended under his brows, a long coat to hide his body from the lowering temperature, and a flashy sports car. No wonder people in Fil’s company were flocking by the entrance — women giggling and whispering in curiosity.

Aside from the millions’ worth of sports car he was leaning on leisurely, Anton’s look, physique, and aura stood out. He was a celebrity for a reason; though he preferred to be called a singer instead of a celebrity.

"Goodness. Who is he?"

"He looks so handsome~!"

"Is he a client?"

"How nice would it be to be picked up by such a luxurious car?"

"He’s so hot."

Fil looked around at the people by the entrance. Most women halted from their steps, admiring the live model right there in the front driveway. She shook her head, hearing some male employees admire the car while ignoring the person.

’I guess there’s no reason for me to contact him,’she told herself, sighing in relief. ’He obviously didn’t change his mind. But what is he doing here? Did he think he was shooting a drama by posing like that?’

She squinted her eyes, observing Anton, who was whistling while waiting leisurely. Her lips curled up into a smirk while looking at the crowd. Fil approached two male employees on the side.

"Hey," she called softly, smiling.

The second the two men heard her soothing voice, they followed the voice. As soon as their eyes landed on Fil, their lips fell.

"Thank you for the tarts earlier," she expressed, looking at the other man with a sweet smile. "You just put it on the table earlier, and I couldn’t get the chance to thank you."

"Ah." The man massaged his nape, blushing. "There’s a lot of people wanting to give you something, so I was worried I might bother you. So I didn’t say anything."

He peeked at her, grinning. "But I’m glad you liked them."

’Elise did’ was what she wanted to say.

"Anyway, are you headed home now?" the man quickly followed up, not wanting to lose the momentum and lose the conversation. "Do you need help?"

"Uh... well," she hesitated. "I’m okay."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

"Fil!"

The men in front of her turned their heads as soon as they heard the call. Fil, on the other hand, raised her brows briefly. A satisfied smirk turned up on her face for a split second. When she turned her head, she caught Anton jogging in her direction.

"Who —" The two men, who were talking to Fil, furrowed their brows.

"Move," Anton remarked rudely, casting the two guys a look. Stopping in front of Fil, he pointed at the two men with his eyes on Fil. "Are they harassing you, Fil?"

"No?"

"Tss. I knew it!" Anton hissed, glaring at the two male employees who weren’t even doing anything. "Back off, you fool. Harass my girl again, and you’re dead."

"He’s not my boyfriend." Fil rolled her eyes, casting the men a look. "He’s a friend, and I’m sorry on his behalf. Don’t mind him and I don’t need help to go home. Thank you for offering, though."

"Ah..." the man who gave her the tarts chuckled awkwardly. "It’s okay. Ha ha."

Fil smiled apologetically, watching the men walk away awkwardly. She huffed and then looked at Anton dead in the eye. But before she could say anything, she noticed that everyone who had been flocking to the entrance was now staring at her, whispering to each other.

"He’s not my boyfriend!" Fil raised her voice to clarify, setting her attention back to Anton. "He’s a friend."

"Why are you being so harsh, Fil?" Anton pouted.

"Because you came to my workplace without telling me." Fil pointed at the situation near them. "Can’t you see?"

Anton glanced at the situation and then shrugged nonchalantly. "I don’t see any problems with it."

"Right. You’re used to this."

"Imagine them flocking outside without even knowing who I am." Anton playfully leaned forward, whispering at her. "This is what they call star quality."

Fil’s face twitched. "Let’s get out of here first," she grumbled, grabbing his arm away.

"Wait! Where are you taking me?" Anton stopped her from dragging him, watching her look back at him before he pointed at his sportscar. "My car’s there."

"You want me to ride in there?"

"Why not? Every woman I met like this baby."

"I like my truck better," she argued. "Unless you don’t want me in your MV anymore, then let’s part ways from here."

"What?"

Fil raised her brows, giving him so little time to make a decision.

"Fine, fine! Gee!" Anton pulled his arm from her grip, looking at the people still staring at them. "This is embarrassing."

"Nothing is embarrassing about my truck," she remarked, turning on her heel as she walked away. "Back in the day, these types of trucks are what guys used to get ladies flocking at them. Follow me. My car is parked over there."

Anton reluctantly followed her, making a phone call to tell his assistant to pick up his car. When they reached her truck, his face twitched.

"Fil, do you want a new car?" he asked, watching her get in the driver’s seat. "I can give you one."

"How nice of you, but I’m very much happy with my truck," was what she said before hitching in.

"Shh..." Anton hissed, ruffling his hair before he forced himself to get into the front passenger seat. As soon as he sat down, he faced her squarely. "Fil, promise me that we’ll reach our destination unscathed!"

"I promise." Fil nodded. "But if we didn’t, I’ll make sure your face will be left unharmed."

Anton gasped, hands on his chest.

"Haha. I’m kidding," she laughed while putting on her seatbelt. "I just want to go wherever we are heading with my truck, so I can drive myself home."

"I can drive you home."

"No, thanks." Fil smiled. "I don’t think that’s proper, considering I’m your friend’s ex-girlfriend."

"It’s not like we’re doing anything wrong," Anton grumbled but ended up buckling his seat. "By the way, I came here today because the music video director wants to see if you can do the scenes or have chemistry with me.."

Fil looked at him and asked, "Tonight?"

"It’s a quick run in the camera," he answered. "It won’t take long. That’s okay with you, right?"

"You’re already here," she replied with sarcasm. "Can I back out?"

"Please, pretty?" Anton fluttered his eyelashes, holding his hands together. "I know it’s a little rushed, but can you please do it for the pitiful me?"

Fil studied his puppy-looking face, smiling. "Fine," she nodded. "Buckle up your seat. Make sure it’s tight. You know... for safety purposes."

Anton furrowed his brows, having this sense of dread creeping up his spine. He heard from Vincent that Fil’s driving skills scared him. Also, this truck was old. With those two put together, he sensed that this ride wouldn’t be as smooth sailing as it should be.

Anton was right.

There was a reason people were terrified by the thought of riding in a car with Fil behind the wheel. Anton learned it the hard way.
