The Devil's Good Girl
Chapter 120: Will you go out with me?

Chapter 120: Will you go out with me?

"Aaand, ACTION!"

The music in the background started playing faintly while the camera started rolling. In the middle was a couch and Fil and Anton were on it. She was lying down, her head on his lap, while he looked down at her. Both of them were smiling, she was giggling.

From a bystander’s point of view, they were just another typical lover: in love, happy, and playful.

The people behind the scenes couldn’t help but smile. Although they encountered a little problem in the morning, seeing Anton with his leading lady in the music video eased everything. Fil was inexperienced, but her glow was enough to lighten up the room. Her looks also complimented Anton.

Now, they couldn’t help but agree that Anton had chosen the perfect person for the job.

"CUT!"

After a good take, the director yelled through his microphone. "Well done. We’ll move on to the next scene in half an hour."

Fil and Anton smiled at the director while everyone else dispersed to prepare for the next scene. Fil didn’t get up immediately, looking up at Anton.

"Anton," she called, earning his attention. "You have a booger."

"What?" Anton intuitively covered his nose, frowning when she suddenly laughed. "You’re messing with me."

"I really wished you had," she remarked, pushing herself to sit up. "This is a lot easier than I thought."

"Me too. We only retook a few scenes since we started." His eyes twinkled, thinking they would wrap it up earlier. "Anyway, what’s up with you?"

"Huh?"

"You look... glowing." Anton rubbed his chin, assessing her. "Are you in love?"

"Did you forget I just got out of a breakup?"

"I know, but your smile..." he squinted his eyes, assessing her face. "It looks like you’re in love. Are you dating?"

"You’re impossible." Fil shook her head, rolling her eyes at him. "Not because I’m being nice to you again doesn’t mean I can’t be mean again."

"Oh, come on." Anton clicked his tongue, throwing his hands in the air. "I’m complimenting you."

Her expression died. "Thanks, but no thanks."

"But seriously, did you put something on your face?" he asked once more, this time sounding more curious. "I mean, it’s still the same face. Your make-up is light and simple — except for that part of your lips. But... really, you’re prettier today."

"I’m doing you a favor already. No need to flatter me." Fil touched her cheek with the back of her hand.

Did she truly look different? Did she look in love?

Her cheek blushed a little at the thought of how her morning was spent. There weren’t any rated R detail this morning, aside from kissing and showering together with Jackson. They didn’t do anything though, for the reason Fil needed her legs to walk.

"Forget it." Anton waved dismissively. "It’s probably the glow of being single. I mean, you got out of a toxic relationship, so you’re probably less burdened now."

"How can you say that when he is your friend?" Fil quipped. "You don’t have to talk bad about him just to make me comfortable."

"I’m saying what I want to say, not to impress you."

"Sure?"

"You’re my friend," he pointed out. "Vincent is a friend as well, but well, his sister sucks. And I’m still angry at them."

Fil didn’t say anything anymore, staring at Anton’s side profile. After a minute, she caught some makeup artists approaching them. But the makeup artist wasn’t the only one she saw, but a familiar person in the corner.

"Marcus?" she blurted out under her breath, making Anton follow her gaze.

"Ah." Anton rocked his head. "So, he came, huh?"

Fil set her eyes back to Anton. "You know he’s coming?"

"He said he wanted to support me," Anton shrugged. "Of course, I don’t believe him. But it’s the weekend, and he probably wants to hang out later. Do you have plans later?"

"Hmm... I’m planning to visit Kenzo."

"Why do you always visit the guy?" Anton scrunched up his face. "He’s old enough to take care of himself."

"Because he’s my friend, who sadly got mugged."

"Hey."

Just then, Marcus already reached the couch where Anton and Fil were idling. He wore a big smile, darting his eyes between the two.

"I almost thought you two were dating," he joked. "You look good together. Who would have thought?"

"Tss. You and your sarcasm," Anton hissed and then looked at Fil. "So? Are you free later?"

Marcus arched a brow while Fil kept her focus on Anton. For some reason, Marcus held his breath while waiting for her response. He knew Anton was simply asking her to dine with the crew to celebrate. However, there was this inexplicable feeling even Marcus couldn’t explain.

"Is everyone coming?" she asked with a smile, only to see Anton nod. "I don’t have plans later. So, I guess I’ll come."

"Great!" Anton clapped. "I think I’ll have a few more scenes than you. I’ll ask the director to shoot mine first."

With that being said, Anton jumped from the couch. He raised a hand to his makeup artist, stopping them from touching him.

"Later," he said before the makeup artist could even say anything. "I have more important things to do."

After saying his piece, Anton walked away. The makeup artists looked at each other before following Anton, knowing they had to touch him up even if he was moving around.

Meanwhile, Fil and Marcus just stared at Anton’s retreating figure while the makeup artist tried to touch him up while walking.

"He should’ve at least given them a few minutes to do their job," Fil murmured, shifting her eyes to Marcus. "Hey."

"Hey." Marcus drew a deep breath, took a languid step, and plopped his butt down on the couch. "So... you really accepted his offer to shoot his music video, huh?"

Fil shrugged. "He practically begged me."

"If I didn’t see your chemistry in the camera, I wouldn’t know why he would beg you," he humored. "You’re good."

"Anton is. I’m just following his lead."

"How have you been?" he asked, his tone growing quiet. "I heard what happened. Are you okay now?"

Marcus tilted his head a little, eyes falling on the side of her lips. His jaw tightened at the cut on it. It was covered with concealer and, with the lighting and the camera effect, it wasn’t noticeable. However, with this distance, he could see it well.

"It’s fine," Fil smiled, watching him refocus his eyes on her. "It’s just a small cut. No big deal."

"No big deal?" he arched a brow. "If you say so."

Fil smacked her lips, looking ahead as she hummed. "I was angry," she confessed. "I really was angry to the point I wanted to slap her back. Blaming Vincent is even easier, but then, I couldn’t help but think maybe I deserve the slap."

"It was like a wake-up call," she continued, turning her head back to him. "Valerie had the guts to do that because I let her bully me for years. I.. enabled her, and so, I paid the price."

"Then that means I’m also at fault," he returned.

"No, it’s not."

A moment of silence fell on them, as they didn’t speak for a while.

Marcus glanced at her, taking a deep breath as he mustered the courage to speak again. "Fil, about that night..."

"It’s okay." She cut him off. "I told you. It’s fine. I know your intentions were good. So, forget about it —"

"I can’t." This time, he cut her off mid-sentence, watching her furrow her brows. "I can’t forget about it and neither do I think I want to."

"Marcus, what are you —"

"Do you want to go out?" he asked assertively, eyes locked with hers. "Not just a friend going out with another friend, but a man and a woman going out together. A date. I’m asking you for a date, Fil."

Marcus paused, feeling a lot more relieved and free from the shackles he bound himself with.

"Will you go out with me?"
