Mingshen laid in that position for two whole minutes, yet there was no sign of him getting up anytime soon.

Jia stared at him for a long moment and turned away. She walked to the supermarket’s entrance where she grabbed a shopping trolley for herself. She felt a familiar presence behind her and she turned.

"What?"

"Not going back home?"

"You can leave. I was originally here to buy some stuff anyway."

Jia kept it short and left again. Mingshen saw her walk away. It would look like Jia talked and acted just like how she usually would with him. But the subtle distance she put between them was clear to Mingshen, whether it was through her eyes or her body language.

Jia wheeled her trolley through different aisles, stuffing all kinds of necessities in it. She abruptly stopped and turned again.

Before she could ask, Mingshen answered himself. "Now that I am at the supermarket anyway, I have some things to buy too."

"Does it lie in the same direction as me?"

"Yes."

Jia pressed her lips in silence. She didn’t argue any further and returned to her own shopping.

Mingshen just stuffed random things in his trolley without even looking at them. His focus was following Jia wherever she went.

Jia entered one aisle and stopped. She exhaled a deep breath and turned again.

"You know, we just passed by an area for men’s essentials."

"I saw that."

"You didn’t have anything to get there?"

He shrugged. "Not really."

"...Yet you have something to get here?"

Mingshen took a glance around and realized that they had now entered into an area for women’s essentials. This particular aisle was for buying sanitary pads. Rows and rows of shelves contained all kinds and brands of pads.

Mingshen looked unfazed. "It doesn’t hurt to learn your preferences."

"The length of those pads is short."

Jia looked up without turning back and pursed her lips. "It’s fine for me."

"You shouldn’t be stingy with personal hygiene."

The corner of her mouth twitched. "I am not-"

"That’s the cheapest product here."

Jia quietly put the packet back in its place. She looked around and grabbed another packet. She hadn’t even checked it out when she heard the devil’s voice again.

"Those pads don’t have wings. It’s important to cover the sides too."

Silence.

Jia didn’t want to argue in front of so many giggling customers so she quietly put it back. She picked up a third brand.

"There have been many complaints about its comfort. Some women have found it itchy after wearing it. Not good."

How the hell does he know so much about women’s sanitary pads? Jia bit her lip.

At one point after listening to Mingshen’s commentaries about how every brand sucked. in some or the other way, she finally turned towards him.

Jia looked at the price tag and asked, "Do you think expensive brands are always good?"

"I can buy my bras by myself," Jia whispered near him with a strain of impatience in her voice.

"Considering the stock of outdated panties I saw in your closet that night, I highly doubt your capabilities," Mingshen said, straight-faced.

Jia stared at him, speechless.

"Also, you are getting the wrong size. This is smaller. Yours are bigger."

"...How can you possibly know that?"
