Mingshen’s intimidating aura made Meng Rin gulp. Her mind was a blank mess.

Fei Nanyou’s gaze darkened. "You are asking a victim to defend her molester? You do realize that he also banged up Tengqi so badly, right?"

He smiled back. "My employee has made me so proud, it brings tears to my eyes."

"You seriously want to make an enemy of the Hou family?"

His expression twisted in rage.

Meng Rin glanced at Bai Yingtai’s side and though he wasn’t looking at her, she strangely felt his attention on her.

At first, she was baffled about his actions. She didn’t understand why he wanted to be caught in that compromising position. But then it slowly occurred to her.

Hou Tengqi hadn’t trusted her. He accused her of cheating on him. But if it would look like she was being forced upon, then there was no question of cheating.

She jolted back.

Jia warned him. "Lower your voice. This is already a sensitive situation."

He grimaced.

Meng Rin didn’t have a genuine answer to his question. The reasons that Bai Yingtai had given were way too odd to be believable.

Bai Yingtai dazedly raised his hand and upped three fingers.

"He was...talking very loudly..." Bai Yingtai mumbled.

Jia asked, "What?"

"He was talking very loudly," Mingshen reiterated. "My employee talks quietly. Ignore," he shrugged.

Fei Nanyou stared at him blankly. "What do you mean loudly?"

"He was shouting," he replied with light snores.

Bai Yingtai interrupted him with the second reason. "He kicked the bed..."

"Oof," Mingshen shook his head. "Worst crime he could have done."

Jia scowled. "Are you enjoying this?"

"Certainly, I don’t look miserable, do I?" He rubbed his chin thoughtfully.

Everybody just couldn’t wrap their heads around his reasons.

A sudden, sharp chill brought goosebumps on everybody’s skin, including Fei Nanyou’s as Bai Yingtai’s gaze looked oddly lethal.

"You must never kick the bed. It’s the bed we all sleep on. The bed is soft. It keeps us warm. You don’t insult the thing that gives you a good night’s sleep. Do you want to try sleeping on a cold, hard floor instead? Should I make you?"

His quiet voice was filled with a deadly alarm, making everybody gulp in their throats. His tall stature only added to the imposing atmosphere.

Suddenly, a new voice came from the other side. Jia saw that it was the man standing behind the wheelchair man.

"You showed three fingers. What is the third reason that made you hit Hou Tengqi?" he asked with a calm tone, much opposite to Fei Nanyou’s outburst.

Bai Yingtai glanced at him but for some reason, Meng Rin thought that he was looking at her through the mirror on the other side. She fidgeted her hands uneasily.

Bai Yingtai didn’t respond and instead his head collapsed down, slipping into another round of sleep.

"Did you just see that Zihan!?"

"Okay, enough!"

Jia felt a headache coming. As if the cult gathering wasn’t enough, another big incident occurred in the same evening.

She looked at Mingshen. "For now, I have to arrest your employee. We need more investigation around the sexual assault charge but there is no doubt that he did intentionally attack Hou Tengqi."

Mingshen gasped dramatically. "The betrayal, Spicy!"

"I am just doing my job. So please don’t interfere."

Fei Nanyou sneered. "Just wait and watch, you disgusting sleepyhead. You have messed with Hou Tengqi. You will suffer."

Bai Yingtai continued to sleep without a care in the world, worsening his expression.

Mingshen smiled. "Let’s see who makes who suffer~"

Xiyang cuffed his wrists behind his back.

Meng Rin anxiously looked at him being taken away, but there was nothing more she could do.

Fei Nanyou said, "Meng Rin, we should go to the hospital. Tengqi needs you. And don’t worry about that bastard. The Hou family won’t let him go."

She slightly trembled. That didn’t assure her in the least.

As she was about to exit the room, the man in the wheelchair spoke, "He was looking at you."

Meng Rin was slightly taken aback. "Mr. Zhuo Syaoran...S-sorry, what do you mean?"

His eyes watched her. "The tall man. Bai Yingtai, was he? When Zihan asked him about his third reason, he was looking at you."

Her smile faltered. "I-I don’t think so..."

He turned his head and pointed his gaze at the mirror. "Through that."

She pressed her lips inwardly.

"He was looking at you, which means the third reason was related to you. What was it if I may ask?"
