As Jia and Mingshen reached the location of the incident, they saw Huo Tengqi was being taken away on a stretcher. Jia looked at his state, dumbfounded.

His head was a mess and covered with blood. She could hardly make out his eyes from his brows.

"Ouch," Mingshen commented without much care. He was more interested to see the courageous man who was responsible for his condition.

"I already like that man who did this."

Jia threw him a scowl. "This is serious."

She quickly pushed through the crowd and somebody’s loud voice bolstered through the air.

"You fucking lay hand on friend’s fiance, you bastard!"

As she stepped in the room, she was surprised to see the man in the wheelchair once again. He, too, noticed her presence and glanced at her. He gave her a simple nod. Behind his wheelchair stood a man and woman.

I recognize that woman from the amusement park. She is his bodyguard, Jia thought.

But she didn’t know who the other man was.

Jia quickly looked around and finally found Meng Rin, who was seated in a chair at a distance. With tearful eyes, she anxiously looked at the whole situation going out of control.

"Meng Rin!"

Meng Rin’s gaze shifted at Jia and her eyes widened. "Y-you...Inspector Song."

She quickly went to her side and asked, "Meng Rin, are you okay? I heard that you were-"

"What are you doing here?"

"That’s not important for now. Tell me about yourself first. Are you hurt?"

She narrowed her eyes at the hugely tall man, who was one-sidedly taking a beating from a man.

Fei Nanyou gnashed his jaw. "Why are you quiet now!? You tried to...!"

He was close to landing another punch at the sleeping stranger, which made Meng Rin jump in her place. Jia noticed that odd reaction and blinked.

Hm? Is she...worried for the assaulter?

That felt too bizzare to her. But it didn’t seem like Meng Rin wanted the man beaten up.

"Meng Rin," she asked softly, "What happened?"

She looked at Jia anxiously, not knowing how to explain.

Fei Nanyou roared. "I will tell you what happened. We broke into Meng Rin’s room after we saw an ambulance waiting outside. When we broke in, we saw this man on top of her forcing himself on her! And my friend Tengqi was lying unconscious on the floor all bleeding. This man attacked Tengqi first and then wanted to...!"

Meng Rin shook hard. She was staring at the stranger but was unable to speak. Jia noticed that strange, uneasy look again and furrowed her brows.

"Is that really what happened?"

Fei Nanyou was dumbfounded. "Excuse me? How could you ask that stupid question-" he abruptly stopped and then realized. "Hey, you are that woman who threw off her heels and was chasing after some man, right? That sexy woman in red!"

Jia’s expression darkened. Now was not the time to hit on.

He cleared his throat at the idiocy of his statement. "Sorry. What I meant was that there is no question of any confusion. We all saw it. He locked her wrists and was..."

The stranger took all the heat and backlash with a calm, almost dozing expression.

"And this shameless man is acting like nothing happened! He almost killed Tengqi and targeted his fiance. You thought that you could take advantage of your body and do whatever you do? You have no idea who you have messed up with! You bastard, I won’t forgive you for this!"

Fei Nanyou’s fist was close to punching the stranger yet again. But this time, it stopped midway or rather was forced to stop midway.

He glared at the man who interrupted him. "What are you doing!"

Mingshen smiled. "Stopping you from abusing my employee."

A steep silence descended.

Employee?

Jia couldn’t grasp what he said either.

Fei Nanyou gave him a blank look. "What employee?"

Mingshen pointed at the stranger. "The one who is being accused of sexual harrasment. He is my employee."

The stranger yawned. He felt like he heard a familiar voice and looked closely. He blinked.

"Boss?"

Mingshen glanced at him. "Bai Yingtai."

"What are you...doing...here..." his head rolled down, light snores escaping his lips.

Everybody was left flabbergasted. The main accused only cared about sleeping and now his boss turned up, who seemed to take his employee’s side.

Jia swiftly reached his side and whispered. "Mingshen, what is going on?"

"Exactly what it’s looks like, Spicy. Bai Yingtai works in my lab. He is my sleep specialist~"

Meng Rin ever so slowly raised her head as soon as that name fell on her ears.

Bai Yingtai...?

Fei Nanyou’s expression twisted. "You are Dr. Yang Mingshen, right? You hire rapists to work for you? And then you defend them too?"

Mingshen said, "My mom will personally kill me and then bury me too deep underground with her own hands if she ever hears that I defend rapists. But if I am stopping you from punching him, then what does it mean?"

"That is he not a rapist? That is ridiculous! We literally saw him forcing-"

Mingshen ignored him and dropped a smack on Bai Yingtai’s head. "Oye. Wake up."

Bai Yingtai stirred in his sleep and opened his eyelids, albeit painfully. "Boss."

"Tell me your version of the story. Quick."

"...It’s too complicated to explain."

Jia was dumbfounded. "You do realize what you are being accused of, right? You are seriously being lazy of explaining yourself?"

"What is a rapist even supposed to explain!?" Fei Nanyou couldn’t believe the argument he was forced to make.

Bai Yingtai still didn’t say a word. Mingshen narrowed his eyes. Instead of hoping to get any explanation from him, he stopped in front of Meng Rin.

"What exactly happened?"

She trembled hard.

"I know my employee didn’t touch you. But if so many people still saw him on top of you, then there is a reason behind it. I know the people I hire. So tell the truth. What happened?"
