"Hey let go of us!" The teen and his father and among many other such cult members were protesting against unfair custody.

"This is not fair. Why are we caught like some criminals?"

"Yeah, we did nothing wrong!"

Xiyang glared at them. "Enough! We all know how innocent you are. Just stay still till Inspector Song comes."

It was right at this moment that Jia and Mingshen arrived too. She looked around and asked, "Where is Huojin?"

Xiyang stood straight and gave a salute. "Inspector Mo left to chase after a woman who managed to slip from his group. Everybody else from the cult gathering is here now."

"What are you calling a cult?" One of the men demanded, aghast. "We are not a part of any cult! It was a respectable gathering!"

Mingshen raised his brow. "A gathering which teaches you to dehumanize women and make you walk back to the era of two hundred years ago. Yeah, very respectable indeed."

"It’s-it’s not what you think it is!"

He simply yawned. Then there was another person who was also yawning into consciousness.

"Well, well, hello~ Who is waking up after her dream sleep?" Mingshen sneered.

Mrs. Lai initially woke up drowsy and confused. But she soon realized the situation she was in and froze up straight.

"W-what is happening here...!"

Jia pressed her lips and came forward. "Mrs. Lai."

Her eyes widened upon seeing Jia. "Jia...? What the hell are you doing here?"

She looked at her up and down and recognized the red dress. "I-I was talking to you before? So you were fooling me this whole time!?"

The teen and his father gasped in shock too. "Yeah she is the same woman who bullied my son!"

Mingshen chuckled. "You have no idea what the word bully means, right?"

Mrs. Lai gritted her teeth and angrily grabbed her arms. Her fingers that dug in her skin made Jia slightly wince in pain. "What do you think you were doing back there? You think that you can do anything just because you are a cop? You are just like your parents! Arrogant and egoistic!"

Jia sucked in a breath and though the mention of Song Lan and Song Wuying rattled her, she didn’t let it show on her face. She held her wrists and shook them off her arms.

"Please behave, Mrs. Lai. I don’t think you understand the situation. You and everybody else we have caught here are associated with a very dangerous and criminal cult. We didn’t come here to accuse the innocent."

Mrs. Lai looked incredulous. "What dangerous and criminal? I-I don’t know anything about it! It was just a regular meeting!"

Mingshen whistled. "A regular meeting place where you curse your daughter-in-law, granddaughter, wife, sister, mother, girlfriend and what not? This is your definition of regular meetings?"

He sneered and cast mocking glances at everybody. "If anybody here is still under the illusion that participating in this gathering to talk back, plot against the women in your life and decide to mess up with their genitalia is what normal people do, then I have just the perfect place to snap you out of your so-called delusions. It starts with a L~ Guess, guess?"

Everybody just looked at each other but nobody answered.

"Oof. I will give another hint. It ends with a B. Now, you should definitely get it," he pouted.

"Mingshen..." Jia waved her hand to make him stop.

"Well the answer is LAB. My lab," he sighed helplessly. "And this is how one’s intelligence is sucked out dry when you let a scammy leader brainwash you. He replaces your functioning brain cells with something that resembles a peanut," he frowned.

"This is ridiculous! A-are you going to arrest us all just because we attended some gathering?" One of the men lashed out.

"Yeah this is insane!"

Jia barked. "Enough. Do you even realize what group you were all part of? This is the very same cult that manipulated the parents of a girl who was hardly six years old to get rid of her female genitalia by doing illegal and dangerous surgeries! Do you think you are any innocent attending such so-called gatherings where the leader is literally ruining lives and rights?"

She threw a glare at Mrs. Lai. "And you Mrs. Lai. Yesterday, you looked all happy with the thought of celebrating your granddaughter’s birthday and what do I get to see tonight? I could only imagine the shocked faces of your son and daughter-in-law when they would learn about your true feelings."

That quickly drained away the color from her face.

"Y-You cannot do that! How dare you? You are trying to break my family apart!" She burst into tears.

Jia’s gaze turned cold. "I don’t have any interest in your or anybody’s family here for that matter. What I am interested in is ending this cult’s existence which is wreaking havoc in an innocent woman’s life."

She cast a squinted gaze at everybody. "That’s why everybody will cooperate with the investigation here and tell us exactly in detail as to how and when each one of you got into this cult’s contact. This is way more serious than you are giving it credit for so better not test my patience. I won’t hesitate to dump you all in jail if I hear as much as even a whisper of protest."

Everybody shuddered with her intense aura and broke into a cold sweat.

Mingshen sheepishly grinned. "The red really suits you Spicy~"

She ignored his flirtatious comment and looked at Xiyang. "Make sure you get all the details. I will check where Huojin is."

"Yes, Mam!"

Suddenly from a distance, a low sound of an ambulance siren echoed across the air. Jia craned her neck and saw the van’s red and blue lights flashing somewhere farther. Mingshen arched his brow in curiosity too.

"Did someone get injured?" Jia furrowed her brows.

Xiyang replied. "Yes, Mam. Actually, I sent some of the officers to check the situation at the charity function. It’s quite serious. The main organizer of this event, Mr. Huo Tengqi, was attacked by an intruder. That same intruder also tried to sexually assault his fiance, Miss. Meng Rin."

Jia’s eyes stretched wide. "What!?"
