Chapter 121: The Devil Doctor sets the perfect dinner atmosphere

"I was so damn late in realizing the presence of the third man. I could only think about Lim and Zhang Luqi’s safety. Then I got myself injured to the point that I don’t think I could have saved her...if not for you."

Jia peered into his eyes with utmost sincerity. "Thanks a lot for helping out. It would have been a tragic mess if you hadn’t come at the right time."

Mingshen rushed to her side and bent over her. He stretched her lower eyelid down and asked, "Are you consuming something that you shouldn’t? What are you hiding from me? Cough out the truth."

She shook his hand away. "Go away!"

"There is something seriously wrong with you if you are expressing your gratitude. To me at that," he said with a suspicious gaze.

Jia scoffed. "I am a decent human and I do decent things, one of which includes properly showing your gratitude to the person who helped you out."

Mingshen sat back on the other couch, royally putting his right leg over his left as if he was a king of some distant land. Her words were enough to swell his pride and stroke his ego.

"Spicy finally understands my importance~" he smirked.

His too full of himself attitude irked her. "You never let me appreciate you more than a second, do you?"

"More or less a second, you finally realize the importance of my spotlight~"

"You had ruined my rescue plan for Danya. Could you really blame me for being cautious?" She dryly said. "Though you did help out, I don’t appreciate you killing them. We could have gotten some answers from them."

"Hey you killed one of them too," he chuckled. "You are 33% responsible."

"And you 67% of it. I wanted to know what they wanted from her."

Mingshen’s gaze shone with the excitement of danger and thrill. "Yeah, now that’s an interesting question, isn’t it? She must be so important to them."

So much that they mixed in a whole team of fake nurses to get their men away.

’No van is stolen from our fleet, Dr. Yang.’

Mingshen smiled.

Yet they brought an ambulance that was an exact look alike of my hospital’s ambulance van.

He had then said to the head nurse, ’I want the CCTV footage of our ambulance parking lot. Somebody was poking their dirty noses there.’

They didn’t steal my hospital’s ambulance van to avoid the risk of getting tracked. So they repainted an entirely different van like a replica.

The taunting look of that fake nurse was clearly embedded into his mind.

"Ah how I love a challenge~"

Jia wondered if he had completely lost it with the way he was smiling at particularly nothing. She closed her eyes and murmured. "I should have gone with her. I shouldn’t have left her alone..."

"Your interference wouldn’t have mattered, dear. There would have been just an additional patient in a coma right now. As my precious research subject, I sincerely don’t want you to be in that state."

She threw him a glare. "Show a little bit of decency, Mingshen!"

"Reality doesn’t change with showing decency," he smiled.

She smiled. "You are right. So my decency also ends here. Leave."

He stretched his arms and cracked his knuckles. "Not without my coffee."

"You are not getting your pure grounded coffee here," she sneered.

"It would be at your doorstep at any moment~"

*Ding Dong*

"There it is."

Jia’s eyes widened. "Who is outside?"

"My pure grounded coffee and some food~"

She looked at him, stumped. Then she threw an aghast look at the delivery guys.

Guys, not a guy. Plural.

It wasn’t just one delivery guy delivering the coffee and food. It was an entire fleet coming in with a whole dining setup.

"...What the hell is going on?"

Mingshen frowned. "Can’t you see? I am setting up the dinner atmosphere."

"When did I say that you would be having dinner here?"

"I came all the way here and sincerely taught you to walk with the crutch and you wouldn’t even think of having dinner with me?" He gasped in shock. "Do you realize the precious dream you are living in at this moment which countless women are dying to have?"

"Sorry but I am dying to wake up from this nightmare. Make them leave from here, Mingshen! This is my house. You just cannot- Hey! What are you doing moving around that table!?"

The delivery guy curtly replied. "We are just doing as Dr. Yang instructed."

"This is my house! You cannot just move around my stuff without asking me."

Jia jerked to get up but pain shot in her knee. Mingshen waved them to continue with their work. "You would only aggravate your situation, Spicy. How about you just lay back and relax?"

"And let you hijack my house?" She shot back, flabbergasted.

He blinked twice. "I cannot have dinner at your dining table. It’s too small."

"So go eat at your own house on your own luxurious dining table!"

"But now I am already here and I cannot miss the chance of being at Spicy’s house~"

Jia breathlessly walked with the church’s support but by the time she was anywhere near the men, they were already done. Her living room was turned upside down to make space for the dining table and decorations to go with it. The food was all set up and so was the coffee.

Mingshen took his seat and smiled with satisfaction. "That seat is for you, Spicy."

She trembled with rage.

"I will seriously kill-"

A delicious smell wafted in the air and she stopped. She then realized that she had skipped her lunch with her stomach grumbling in response.

Mingshen said, "How about I let you taste one of the finest meals you would ever get to eat? Certainly not with the pocket change you are earning as a cop."

It was getting difficult for Jia to keep standing due to her bad knee so she eventually took a chair but not without throwing killing stares at him. "You went too far with messing up my house, Yang Mingshen!"

He ignored her rant and pushed the plate towards her. "Pan seared salmon. It’s delicious."

Mingshen took a sip of coffee made out of pure grounded coffee beans. "Yes, this is real coffee."

She gnashed her teeth as she tried to control her murderous urges. "You will be putting things back in place exactly the way they were. Do you get it-"

"Ssshhh..." he raised his index finger with his eyes closed. "There is this perfect coffee atmosphere I am trying to enjoy. Don’t meddle with it."

She angrily laughed.

The nerve to tell me that when you damn well meddled with my own house!?

Mingshen smiled, pleased and satisfied and put the coffee cup back on the table. Then the lights went out.
