Chapter 31: High-Tier Equipment

The system panel was deactivated, Agares turned and saw that Aoi was still fast asleep.

Knowing that the others didn’t know about Aoi’s fox-like appearance made her feel more comfortable in her fox form than in her human form.

Aoi stretched her body on the bed, her mouth wide open, her fangs clearly visible. Aoi slowly opened her eyes and saw Agares sitting on the sofa watching her.

"Good morning," said Aoi.

Agares could tell that Aoi was still sleepy. She rubbed her eyes with her hands from time to time. She tried to get up and continued stretching her body to fully wake up.

"Did something happen while I was asleep?"

"Erika’s rescue team has arrived. They failed their mission," replied Agares, shocking Aoi.

Aoi walked from the nightstand to the sofa where Agares was sitting. She said she wanted more details, but Agares didn’t tell her.

That’s because it wasn’t important for Agares to tell her the details of their mission failure. The most important thing was what happened after that.

"After this, Sir Thorn has entrusted us with the task of rescuing Erika," replied Agares.

"We’re going to the S-level dungeon?"

"Yes, but I need to prepare, especially my equipment," said Agares.

"We’re going to the city center."

Aoi nodded. She always asked Agares about his decision to stay in fox mode or not. Agares said she was better off in fox mode, besides it was her true form, human mode might consume a lot of Aoi’s mana if used for a long time.

"So far, no one knows that you are part of the kitsune race."

"That means you’ll be safe even in your fox form," explained Agares.

"I understand."

After making sure Aoi was awake, the two stepped out of the Thorn family residence. Agares left wearing casual clothes, leaving his light armor and sword behind.

Agares’plan was to go to the city center and visit an equipment shop. He hoped he could get the best armor and sword, at least tier 4 or 5 equipment.

When he arrived there, Agares could only stare in amazement as he saw many adventurers crowding around almost every blacksmith shop. Agares doubted that they still had high-tier equipment left.

Agares began walking along the main street, checking the surrounding area, hoping to find a shop that wasn’t too crowded.

His attention was drawn to a blacksmith’s shop that was somehow separated from the other shops.

"Why is this shop the only one that isn’t crowded? Are their goods bad?" asked Agares.

"I think their goods look quite promising," said Aoi.

Agares’ curiosity grew. He stepped closer to the shop and was surprised to see that there was no one there.

’Why did they leave this place without anyone to guard it?’

"Excuse me."

Not once, but Agares called out repeatedly until the man became frustrated. Just as he was about to leave, a young woman around 22 years old came and called out to Agares. She had just arrived from somewhere else.

"I’m sorry," she said, arriving near Agares.

"I just made a delivery to the Ludwig family. I’m sorry," she said again, keeping her head bowed.

Agares sighed. He stepped inside following the woman, looking at each weapon and armor displayed on the wall. Agares needed high-tier equipment, which he was sure wasn’t sold on display.

"Do you need something?" asked the woman.

"I need a set of fifth-tier armor and a sword. Do you have it?"

"Tier five?" asked the woman, shocked.

"About that... we don’t have it," replied the woman.

"Then how about tier four?"

"For tier four, we only have swords," said the woman.

"Show me."

The woman nodded. She walked into another room and found an elegant sword with a blue sheath and a golden hilt.

The woman named the sword Light of the Ocean.

Despite its name, it was not an affinity sword. Affinity swords were swords that were linked to a specific affinity.

When used, they could increase the power of that affinity. But if used by a knight with a different affinity, the ATK would decrease drastically.

"I can assure you that this is not an affinity sword."

"With this sword, you can easily slice through level 3-5 monsters. I guarantee the blade won’t break easily," the young woman replied confidently.

Compared to the previous sword, the Light of the Ocean had better strength and resistance. The Light of the Ocean was a tier four sword, while Agares’ previous sword was only tier three.

"How much?" asked Agares.

"I’m selling it for 30 gold coins."

Without thinking twice, Agares took out three gold bags and handed them to the young woman. The woman looked shocked that Agares bought it without bargaining or trying it out first.

"Aren’t you going to try it first?" asked the woman.

"I’ll try it later. Besides, this is just a temporary sword," replied Agares.

"Do you accept custom orders?"

"Of course. What do you want to make?"

"What tier of equipment can you make?" asked Agares.

"Hmm, with the materials and time I have, I can make equipment up to tier six," explained the woman.

Agares nodded. He patted his magic bag and brought out two rare mineral items. They were Mythril Ore.

"I want you to make a pair of armor and a sword with this material," replied Agares.

"Do you want to make affinity or regular armor and swords?"

"Do you have anything to make dark affinity equipment?"

The woman looked shocked. Her encounter with Agares had already surprised her greatly.

Now, after purchasing the woman’s tier four sword, Agares was asking her to craft dark affinity armor and a sword.

"About that—"

"Are you worried about the materials?" Agares interrupted.

She nodded. Crafting tier six equipment with dark affinity was extremely difficult, and some of the materials might even be hard to obtain. But that didn’t mean it was impossible.

"I might have some of the materials, but I still need a lot."

The woman wrote something on her system panel, turning the note into a side quest. The panel condensed into a token, which she handed to Agares.

The token contained information about the materials needed to craft tier six armor and a sword.

[Armor and Sword]

[Tier: 6]

[Materials:]

[5x Mythril Ore] [2/5]

[1x Tenebrium] [0/1]

[1x Umbrasteel Ingot] [0/1]

"I have other materials. Those are the materials I need but don’t currently have," replied the young woman, pointing to the side quest token she had given to Agares.

"Where can I obtain these materials?"

"Dungeon Level A-S"
