Chapter 30: Agares Preparation
Chapter 30: Agares Preparation
Agares was taken aback by the decision. But Casper Thorn still held control over all decisions. Agares had no right to comment on the Thorn family head’s decision.
After receiving the order to deploy troops to the Dungeon, Jacob, as the leader of the soldiers, said goodbye.
He left on foot with 15 other soldiers from Hurdor City to the S-level Dungeon.
The journey took about 2-3 hours on foot, though it would be faster by horse-drawn carriage.
Agares had no choice. He would stay there while seeking the best way to improve his level and abilities.
His option was to go to the adventurer’s guild and take on a solo mission, but Agares was still haunted by concerns about his identity being revealed.
In the end, Agares decided to rest for a few days in the room provided by Casper Thorn. He waited for definite information about the solo adventurer mission he would take on later.
***
One week later.
The Thorn Family Residence.
Berdiver City.
Agares stepped out of his room. He faintly heard shouting from below, coming from the front yard of the Thorn residence.
Curious, he went downstairs until he reached the first floor. Agares gasped when he saw several soldiers arriving with injuries. They were Erika’s rescue team.
Unfortunately, they returned empty-handed and covered in wounds. Jacob, the team leader, had disappeared in the dungeon, leaving his troops overwhelmed and scattered without command.
Casper was furious. He had been holding back his anxiety for a week, but all he saw in front of him was disappointment.
Agares smiled, seeing the disappointment on Casper Thorn’s face caused by his beloved soldiers.
He stepped forward and looked at them, the wounded soldiers who had failed in their mission. Casper turned his head reflexively, asking Agares why he was near him this morning.
"I woke up hearing you yelling at them. I thought I needed to see more clearly what was going on," explained Agares.
"Sigh!"
"Erika’s rescue team failed in their mission; they returned wounded."
"Then what will you do, Sir Thorn?"
One thing came to Casper Thorn’s mind: send an emergency mission to the Adventurers’ Guild to rescue Erika’s party. But he doubted that the adventurers would accept his plan quickly.
In his opinion, Erika must be rescued from the dungeon as soon as possible. Leaving her there for too long could also endanger her.
"What do you think, Sir Agares?" asked Casper, turning his head.
"What will you give me if I manage to rescue her and her adventuring party?"
"What do you want? I can give it to you right away."
Agares smiled. He stepped forward while looking at the beautiful garden blooming in the front yard of the Thorn family residence.
There was something Agares wanted and Casper Thorn might be able to fulfill.
"The EXP Elixir."
Casper gasped, his eyes widening. He knew how valuable the EXP Elixir truly was.
"How much? What kind?"
"One, give me the best one."
Agares turned and looked at Casper seriously, "I think your daughter’s life is far more important than money, isn’t it?"
Casper Thorn clenched his fists. The situation was really urgent at the moment, he didn’t know if Agares could save his daughter or not.
If he succeeded, then Casper could give him the EXP Elixir as requested.
"Are we agreed?" asked Agares, pressing him.
The man took a deep breath, then cleared his throat in agreement. He held out his hand and shook hands with Agares.
"I’ll provide the EXP Elixir if you manage to bring Erika home," said Casper firmly.
"Don’t worry. I’ll drag her home safely."
After the agreement was made, Agares said goodbye and returned to his room. To save Erika, Agares needed to allocate the attributes and skill points he had previously obtained.
This would drastically increase his abilities compared to before.
Upon arriving in his room, he saw Aoi still sleeping soundly on the wooden bed. Agares sat on the sofa and activated his system.
"Nyx."
[Standby Mode Deactivated]
[Do you need anything, Master?]
"Yes. Provide detailed information about the monsters inhabiting an S-level dungeon."
[Starting command analysis]
[Command received]
[Searching for relevant information]
[1%] [20%]
While waiting for Nyx to finish its task, Agares opened his system by forming the letter S in front of him, then pressing that letter.
A holographic menu appeared, helping Agares manage everything in this world, from names to skills and more.
[ATTRIBUTE STATUS]
[OVR: 32] [+9]
[STR: 44] [+28]
[DEF: 27] [+15]
[AGI: 14] [+5]
[INT: 0]
[DEX: 29] [+20]
[VIT: 26] [+12]
[Attribute Points: 0] [-80]
In total, Agares has allocated all his attribute points to different attributes, focusing on attack, defense, critical rate, and stamina.
This was because Agares considered these four attributes to be very important and helpful in battle.
Now, his attention shifts to another menu: skills. There, he opens the skill points menu and sees the four skills Agares has. However, there is a slight change to the skill menu.
[SKILL MENU]
[Active Skills:]
[1. Shadow Cleave] [Lv.1] [30/100]
[2. Abyssal Ward] [Lv.1] [20/100]
[3. Eclipse Execution] [Lv.1] [10/100]
[4. Nihil Severance] [Lv.1] [0/100]
[Passive Skills:]
[1. Deathbound Discipline]
[Desc: When HP falls below 30%, increases attack by 20% Dark Damage || Resistance to fear and stun effects by 50% || cooldown: 30s]
[Skill Points: 80]
Agares has one passive skill that automatically activates when his HP drops below 30%. Currently, Agares’ total HP is 1200, so 30% of 1200 was 360.
When Agares’ HP was in that range, he would get a 20% increase in attack from the dark element and a 50% increase in resistance against fear and stun.
In his opinion, it was a passive skill that was beneficial to him. Indirectly, Agares had his own protection mechanism after the passive skill was activated.
However, Agares cannot allocate his skill points to the passive skill. For some reason, the passive skill does not have a level to upgrade.
Agares focuses his attention on his four main skills, filling only three of them, as only those three skills can be used by Agares at this time.
[DING! Skill Point Allocation Successful]
[Skill 1: Shadow Cleave] [Lv.2] [0/500] [+70]
[Skill 2: Abyssal Ward] [Lv.1] [25/100] [+5]
[Skill 3: Eclipse Execution] [Lv. 1] [15/100] [+5]
[Skill 4: Nihil Severance] [Lv.1] [0/100]
[DING! Congratulations, Agares! Skill Level Up]
[Skill 1: Shadow Cleave]
[Cooldown: 5s]
[Mana: 150]
[Debuff]
[Weakened 5s -> Weakened 10s]
[Reduce ATK by 20% per 10s -> Reduce ATK by 30% per 12s]
[Reduce 7HP/sec for 5s -> Reduce 10HP/sec for 7s]
Not only does the cooldown decrease, but other effects were also gained after Agares increased the level of his first skill, such as the duration of the weakened effect increasing, and the ATK and HP reduction also increasing, both in percentage and time.
Agares smiled, he began to feel a drastic increase in strength in his body. But he didn’t know if his current abilities would be enough to explore the S-level dungeon.
He closed the menu panel and switched to the information panel from Nyx that had been paused earlier. Agares displayed the panel in front of his face.
[Dungeon Level!]
[Dungeon levels are divided into five tiers, sorted alphabetically: S, A, B, C, and F]
[Dungeon level F is the weakest, while Dungeon level S is the strongest. The dungeon tier system is based on the monsters inhabiting the area and the depth of the dungeon.]
"Depth?"
[Correct, Master!]
[Dungeons are cave-like structures extending downward into the ground. For Dungeon level F, the underground floors are relatively shallow, with around 10–15 floors before reaching the bottom of the dungeon.]
"What about Dungeon level S?"
[There are no definitive records of the number of floors in a Dungeon level S. Adventurers’ records from the past mention the deepest floor in a Dungeon level S as floor 83.]
"Floor 83?" Agares was shocked.
"What about the monsters there?" Agares asked again, curious.
[In terms of capacity and ability, S-rank Dungeons are inhabited by monsters of average level 3. For floor bosses, their levels reach at least level 4-5]
[The deeper you explore into an S-rank Dungeon, the higher the monster levels become]
"What is the level limit of monsters I can face with my current abilities?" Agares asked.
[Currently, the Master is at Stage 1 and Level 3. According to calculations and reference records, at least Master can fight monsters below level 4]
Agares fell silent. Previously, he was able to kill the Mountain Blood Centipede, which was a level three monster, even though the system said that Agares could only fight level one monsters.
There was a discrepancy between the system information and the reality on the ground.
"What is the percentage of information accuracy compared to my current condition?"
[Analyzing information accuracy compared to the Host’s condition]
[Accuracy rate: 50%]
"50%? There’s a chance I can kill a Level 4 monster, but there’s also a chance I’ll fail to kill it."
"What are you trying to tell me, Nyx?"
[Correct, Master]
Agares sighed. He needed to make extra preparations to head to the S-level dungeon. His attributes and skills were ready; all that was left was to prepare his equipment.
"Standby mode, Nyx."
[Standby Mode]
"Yosh!"
"Time to go shopping."
