Another day came, and Abel became restless, but not because of his nightmares coming back since it wasn’t like he wouldn’t dream of his tragic pasts every now and then. Usually, it only happened whenever he was anxious, but lately, he had a lot going on, especially about Rosela.

[Mason, make sure you report everything to me about Rosela,] Abel telepathically reminded his curb that he had assigned to Rosela. [She might do something stupid, so I want you to closely look at her every move.]

[Everything is fine, Master. Please don’t worry,] Mason reported, making Abel let out a sigh of relief. [Lady Rosela has been very busy doing her usual work and hobbies, especially in the opera.]

Still, despite the good news, Rosela dreaded the fact that Nikolai had a wife, his Queen now. For some reason, he had a feeling that she would do something just so she could take back Nikolai’s attention. And with his last encounter with Lady Dani, the woman clearly emphasized that someone had something to do with the previous siren’s attack. With her words alone, there was no doubt that she suspected that he and Rosela were behind it. But Abel’s conscience was clean, so could it be Rosela then?

’I guess you don’t love her enough to fight for her then. Oh... I get it... You’re the one who’ll be happy seeing her happy with the love of her life so you chose to let her go. But let me reiterate this to you... Obviously, King Nikolai doesn’t look at her in a romantic way. You should know about that since I’ve heard you’re close with the King, so forgive me if I’m being repetitive. I’m pretty sure you’re aware that he will never look at Lady Rosela as his woman.’

Abel clicked his tongue at the thought. "That woman surely is tactless; talking without breaks..."

Somehow, Lady Dani found out about his intimate relationship with Rosela that he was trying to keep a secret upon the latter’s request. However, what puzzled him the most was how that woman managed to cast a strong spell on him. It was bothersome, so Abel stood up as he made up his mind to break the Thrall Chaining Spell cast upon him as soon as possible.

"Ah, where is that woman?" he snorted as he transformed into his mist form to look for Lady Dani. "She still owes me an apology for calling me a fool!"

Looking around, he unknowingly smiled the moment he spotted the woman alone walking towards the pond. Landing in front of her, he smirked as she jumped up in surprise.

"Are you stalking me?" Dani hissed the moment he popped up in front of her in his human form.

"Aren’t you talking to me too casually?" Abel retorted with a frown. "Should I remind you that I’m the Chancellor in this kingdom and that I deserve some respect?"

Dani simply raised an eyebrow at him, but she quickly changed her expression and gave him her sweetest smile as she bowed courteously to him. "It’s nice to see you around then, Chancellor Abel," she sarcastically stated. "If you may, I shall be excusing myself for now. After all, I still have some work to do in making sure that our Queen is safe in the hands of a big snake."

"Allegations against someone without solid proof are considered a crime in our kingdom," Abel pointed out with a deeper frown on his face. "You should watch your mouth, Lady Dani."

Dani frowned, and Abel didn’t know how to suppress his amusement at the sight of her face. For some reason, he found her adorable whenever she was annoyed. It was fun teasing her and pushing her buttons.

"Why are we even talking now?" she complained. "I don’t believe we’re close enough to be taking this long."

"You owe me an apology for calling me a fool," he reminded her with a smile.

"And like I said before, you’ll only hear me apologize once you’re no longer a fool, Chancellor Abel!" Dani scoffed. "Seriously... Do you want me to command you again like last time using the spell I cast on you? Because if you refuse to disappear in front of me right now, you’ll leave me no choice but to use the spell to command you. And trust me... I might just instruct you to go back to your residence naked."

Abel smirked. "I knew it... You simply want to see me naked right?" he teased. "Last time, you asked to see the mark of that Thrall Chaining Spell. I told you, I’m willing to show it to you in private, so do you want to see it now, Lady Dani?"

Abel then acted as if he was about to remove his upper clothes. Predictably, she didn’t take kindly to such actions.

"Stop right now!" Dani ordered. "Go back to your residence and do a hundred push-ups!"

In that instant, Abel felt the familiar energy of the spell, making him move against his will. Still, he chuckled as he turned around.

"I’ll see you again next time, Lady Dani. And remember, be careful with your words," he warned her. "Don’t you dare spread baseless rumors around the kingdom."

"You’ll remain a fool for having unrequited love. Just take her far away from here before it’s too late!" she told him from behind. "Because if she harms our Queen... she’ll meet her doom!"

He simply sighed at that. How many times had he already asked Rosela to be his wife? Would that work to take Rosela away? But that wouldn’t mean that she would agree to it anyway.

Abel released a frustrated sigh as he walked back to his residence against his will. The spell would die down after completing what Dani told him to do, and still he couldn’t help but chuckle at her actions. He found it entertaining. It had been a while since he sincerely laughed like that.

"A hundred push-ups isn’t too bad," he murmured with a grin as he anticipated when he would bug Lady Dani again. "Maybe, I should let her spell linger on me for longer so that I wouldn’t get bored doing the same routine all over again."

For some reason, he was looking forward to what she would ask him to do next, and he didn’t care if it sounded wrong in his own head.
