Chapter 304: A Victim
Chapter 304: A Victim
Zoran grimly nodded. He knew that his life was in Devon’s hands no matter what Nikolai did. Nobody was able to stop what was already fated to happen. The only way for Nikolai to cut his contract with Devon was if he died first. Doing so would allow Nikolai to break the life and death contract Zoran had over him.
Thinking about it... That Seer’s vision made sense now...
Resigned, Zoran lovingly stared at his wife whose eyes were still closed. She truly followed whatever it was that he would tell her to do. He knew she was trying her best not to feed Devon with her fear, especially since he could feel how he could easily overpower that dark energy inside of her.
With one last flourish, he siphoned away all of the dark energy inside of her body. The deed was done. Now the only thing he had to do was wait.
"Wait for my return, my wife..." Zoran lovingly hummed as he leaned in and kissed Dahlia’s lips, sucking away the last remnants of the dark energy inside of her.
It was then that his body convulsed. Letting go of Dahlia’s lips, he coughed up more blood as he gasped for air. He was losing it...
’’Zoran!!!!"
Dahlia’s voice was the last he heard before he closed his eyes, his body giving up on him as he fell to the ground.
*thud*
The loud thud of Zoran’s body caught Mineah’s attention. Turning quickly, she watched as her husband bent down on his knees and quickly bit Zoran’s wrist.
Meanwhile, Dahlia’s mother hissed at how things were turning out.
"You!"
The woman screamed with Devon’s voice before an explosion of black light made her shadow maidens around her fly into the air. Fritz and Abel quickly moved as they restrained Dahlia’s mother, but she was way too strong even for the two of them. This was irregular. Devon shouldn’t be able to do something like this just by casting a spell on Dahlia’s mother.
"This..." Mineah gasped. "Rosa is not under a spell! Her body is bound to Devon as his medium!"
Upon Mineah’s realization, she and her shadow maidens quickly started chanting the right spell to break that bond. She didn’t know how it happened, but she had a strong hunch that it was either Rosela’s doing from way before, or it was Rosa that sold herself to Devon of her own free will.
This was bad. If it was the latter, then things would be more complicated, and Rosa could lose her life in the process. Mineah recalled that Nikolai and his men had already gotten everyone involved with Rosela along with some of the spies she had that had a connection with Devon. But then, Nikolai didn’t really touch anyone from Dahlia’s family.
Thinking quickly, she turned to Dahlia who was still sobbing while Nikolai was doing his thing on Zoran.
"Dahlia, help your mother while I free her body from Devon’s hold!" Mineah instructed as she kept the light now flowing from her body around her friend’s mother. "Call her by name and let her know that you’re with her. That she must come back to you and fight Devon’s hold from inside her body."
Mineah then turned her attention back to the fight. The moment she saw that her shadow maidens were back on their feet, she immediately commanded, "Dani, Laura, help me destroy Devon’s shadow serpent. Krisha, Zaila, look for the serpent’s mark on her body and cast the extraction spell on it."
She had to play this right. She would push herself too hard if she did everything on her own. And besides, she promised Nikolai that she wouldn’t compromise herself after everything that had happened. Her Shadow Maidens knew exactly what to do, and she was aware of their capabilities, so she was sure that they would perfectly execute the task at hand without endangering their own lives on the line.
The pavilion was filled with lights and energy, and Mineah was sure that they’d already caught the attention of everyone inside the palace. She looked at Nikolai, and her husband was still busy biting Zoran in every vital nerve, making sure that he had enough toxins flowing inside the man’s body to get him back to them.
She then turned to Abel and Fritz as she commanded, "Chancellor, get out of this pavilion with Lord Fritz and make sure no one enters. Have all the Shadow Knights available guarding the vicinity."
She then added, "Assure everyone that everything is under control. I’m sure that we’re getting attention with the amount of energy inside this pavilion right now, I don’t know how you’ll do it, but make sure that everyone has enough distance away from our vicinity."
Abel and Fritz both nodded and in a flash, the two vampires disappeared right after making sure that Laura and Dani were able to get a hold of Rosa’s body.
With her orders given, Mineah then looked at Dahlia only to see that she was still wearing Zoran’s bangle. It would seem that it was more than enough to protect Dahlia from any assault from Devon’s serpent shadow. She could feel the power in the bangle working as Dahlia approached her mother, the invincible protective barrier from the bangle protecting her as she approached.
"Mother, please stop this. Don’t let Devon rein inside your body. Come back to me, please... Mother... can you hear me? It’s me, Dahlia," Dahlia began as she sobbed to her mother.
"Come back to me... I’m waiting right here. Please... I beg you. I don’t want to lose you, Mother. We already wasted sixteen years, and we weren’t even able to spend time with each other. There are still a lot of things I want to do with you. Didn’t you promise me that you’d show me to our farm once I’m able to leave the palace? You said you made a lot of renovations to the place, especially to the mill. Please keep your promise. We’ll go shopping, and you said you’ll buy me new dresses and shoes."
"Bjtch, stop with your whining! Your mother was the one who willingly sold herself to me like your twin! They wanted revenge against Nikolai for your death, so their souls were already mine from the start!" Dahlia’s mother scoffed having Devon’s horrendous voice.
"Your mother wanted revenge for your death thinking it was Nikolai’s fault, but apparently, it’s all because of her other daughter’s doing. There’s nothing you can do to get her back now. She’s too ashamed to face you and the consequences of what she’s done!"
"It’s not too late, Mother. It’s not your fault at all, so please come back to me," Dahlia pleaded. "Nothing was your fault. See how our King accepted Zoran back? He was just like you, a victim of Rosela’s lies! So please don’t leave me! Come back to me!"
"My daughter," Rosa’s weak voice spoke, and Mineah took that opportunity to quickly execute the spell with high precision.
"Now!" Mineah shouted, and a blinding white light filled the insides of the pavilion.
