The Crown's Seduction
Chapter 253: Feel Secure

Chapter 253: Feel Secure

Another morning came, and Mineah readied herself for her scheduled visit to Sar, yet another province that she had to tour and see for herself. It was a province whose governor came from the Rossi Clan, and she heard that it was one of the provinces that had an active mining industry.

She was walking down the inn from her assigned room when she saw some noblewomen waiting for her standing with Niran. As per usual, Mineah graced them all with her genuine smile.

"Greetings to Her Majesty," the ladies bowed to her courteously.

"Greetings," she answered back. "It is indeed a good morning."

It was a part of Nikolai’s sudden plan after they learned yesterday that some parts of Valcrez were still sulking since their noblewomen didn’t even get the chance to participate in the selection for a Queen since the King decided to marry the Princess of Ebodia instead.

Not all knew about the prophecy of Valcrez, after all. Nobody except for the high-ranking officials even knew it was a thing, so it was understandable why some thought of her as an usurper. The provinces had their noblewoman vying for the position and representing their hometown, and it would be an honor for their area if their lady were chosen. It was also believed that they would be given more priority should their representative win.

To try and smooth things over, Mineah invited all the ladies who were supposed to be candidates to become Queen to accompany her during her visit to the provinces. There were currently a total of six ladies present at the moment for the day, and more would promptly arrive some time during her visits.

Dutifully, Niran introduced them all to her one by one, and Mineah casually talked to them to try and lighten up the intense mood. From what she heard, Nikolai had a plan against Haman, and these women would play a big part in it. All she needed to do was have them close to her no matter what, particularly Lady Teressa from the Rossi Clan and Lady Diane from the Wagner Clan.

Some time while they were talking, Nikolai suddenly appeared before them and casually pulled her close to him, his possessive arm snaking around her waist as if to establish that she’s his wife. Mineah blushed at the gesture, especially when Nikolai nudged his lips against her cheek without a care for their surroundings.

While this was happening, Mineah couldn’t help but notice how envious the women around her were feeling. Not that she cared. She was too giddy inside to even bother hiding her pleasure.

After that brief public display of affection, Nikolai then darted his gaze to the women who were all currently bowing to him.

"Greetings to His Majesty."

Nikolai simply gave them a nod as he addressed them. "I believe you all have formally been introduced to my wife. I won’t be able to stay and join her during her visitations, but seeing you ladies around my wife will at least put me at ease..." he casually spoke. "Please make sure that you keep her company. You will all be compensated handsomely for doing so, and some of you might even be chosen as a part of her ladies-in-wanting."

Immediately, Mineah could read how almost all the women before them were interested in entering the palace. While some were still bitter about not being in her current position as Queen, they at least understood that what they were being offered was the next best thing.

’A pity that we didn’t even have a chance to His Majesty.’

’Still, it’s well known how His Majesty is very much in love with Lady Dahlia, and I heard that she’s back now. Let’s just see what happens to her now if she can even keep the throne.’

’His Majesty looks so much in love with the Queen. Maybe the rumors aren’t true.’

Mineah inwardly shrugged. There were so many opinions there that she wasn’t really interested in. Today, her main focus was to make sure that some of the ladies with them now would never leave her side. She didn’t know exactly what would happen, but she decided to simply follow Nikolai’s ideas. He said he would need these ladies to serve as his witnesses against Haman, she could only hope that this operation succeeded.

Back to the present, since the crown’s carriage could only accommodate four more people, Mineah had to choose four ladies to accompany her inside her transparent glass carriage. Niran was among them, then Teressa from the Rossi Clan, Diane, and Jane from the Wagner Clan. Nikolai had specified that the two women from the significant clans should be always with her, and she would do just that.

"I have to go now, Mine," Nikolai muttered before kissing her lips. "Take care out there."

Seeing her husband disappear in a flash, Mineah shrugged as she turned and walked towards her carriage. Once inside, she signaled Commander Kalel to begin their parade. Before long, they arrived at Sar and turned to the lady that she knew was from there.

"Lady Teressa, this is your hometown, right?" Mineah asked.

"Yes, Your Majesty. I grew up here," Teressa answered with a smile.

From what Mineah recalled, Teressa was from the Rossi Clan, but her thoughts of her weren’t malicious, unlike the others that she encountered from her clan. She was more neutral, and Mineah was pleased knowing that fact.

"Your Majesty, if you don’t mind us asking, a lot are curious about Lady Dahlia’s arrival," Diane began. "We..."

Diane paused, and Mineah could already tell how curious the Meld was to know what would happen since Dahlia was back.

"Hmmm... Lady Dahlia will remain as one of my ladies-in-waiting," Mineah answered with a smile. "I believe my husband has already answered the royal court’s questions about that matter."

"That news didn’t reach us," Diane informed her. "I mean, most Valcrezians aren’t even aware of what’s happening inside the palace, so we just tend to speculate until we have proper answers."

"His Majesty is a one-man woman," Niran chimed in. "He has no plans of getting a Mistress if that’s what you’re curious about, Lady Diane..."

From where she sat, Mineah just knew that the ladies before her weren’t satisfied with what they got from Niran. These women were basically dying from curiosity, unaware of how much danger was currently surrounding them.

"But aren’t you worried, Your Majesty? Wouldn’t it best for Lady Dahlia to not stay inside the palace," Jane frowned. "To just have her out of His Majesty’s sight as much as possible?"

All eyes were on Mineah now, and she was in the mood for this kind of talk. Then again, there should be no harm in enlightening these ladies who would surely spread their own word like wildfire...

Letting out a sigh, Mineah firmly said, "Lady Dahlia will remain in His Majesty’s heart as a special person. One who became a meaningful part of his life and is a big influence on who he is right now. I respect that. I don’t feel any worries or fear at all. After all, I am confident about where I stand in Nikolai’s heart and his life. He made me feel secure..."
