Chapter 216: The Real Truth

Chapter 216: The Real Truth

Dani, Zaila, and Krisha all gathered in Dani’s bedchamber as soon as they were dismissed by the King.

"I still can’t believe how things turned out. Have you all felt it inside Her Majesty? Something very powerful is inside of her," Zaila muttered with a frown. "That divine dagger in her is very powerful, but there’s something more there that I can’t explain..."

Dani frowned. She wasn’t as good as Zaila was in regard to healing and matters pertaining to inner energy. Among them, Zaila was the one gifted with the talent for it, so she ended up being the one who was most involved in regards to checking on the Queen’s health. She had a healing ability comparable to Lady Jayra, who was one of the best royal mage healers in their kingdom.

However, among all the Queen’s Shadow Maidens, Dani excelled in spellcraft and magic.

"She has angel blood," Dani pointed out, drawing from her own expertise and knowledge. "That must explain it..."

"No... Well, that could be true, but this other energy I felt didn’t feel divine," Zaila pondered. "It’s more like... Arggghhhhh!!!"

Krisha laughed as Zaila screamed out in annoyance. "You and your temper!" she pointed out with a smirk. "Take things slowly. Once our Queen wakes up, report it to her and ask her about it. Maybe she feels it too..."

Zaila shrugged in defeat. With a pout, she said, "Do you really think she’ll tell me anything? She’s keeping things from us." She let out a sigh as she continued, "Imagine how long she kept us in the dark about her angelic blood up till now. I’m sure she’ll just not tell me everything about this disturbing energy inside her body. I just feel like it’s not good for some reason..."

From the sidelines, Dani let out a loud breath of her own. "I’m sure milady didn’t want to keep things from us. If you look at everything that has happened up till now, we can all agree on how rational and careful she is from the start," she stated as she defended their queen.

"She always thinks and plans ahead. She can be manipulative and cunning sure, but there’s always a valid reason for it. If we all know everything about her, it can possibly be the cause for her downfall."

"That’s true," Krisha seconded. "It’s not like we’re resistant to any of all the powerful beings around us, especially those who are planning to do bad things against her."

Dani nodded. She truly understood their Queen, so she didn’t feel too disappointed if there were some certain things that their Queen had remained hidden from them.

"But I’m worried! That energy..." Zaila worriedly pointed out. "I have a bad feeling about it, and it’s something that we shouldn’t take lightly."

"That’s why you have to report it to her and wait for her advice regarding the matter," Dani promptly answered.

Zaila sighted in resignation. She supposed that there was no winning against her fellow Shadow Maidens regarding the matter.

A blanket of silence enveloped them as they all lingered in their own deep thoughts. It only stopped when a knock suddenly took them off their musings.

"Lady Dani, are you inside?" a familiar voice asked. It was Dahlia’s. "Can I please have a word with you?"

The three of them exchanged meaningful glances. Clearing her throat, Dani calmed herself before she walked up to the door to open it.

"Ah, please do come in, Lady Dahlia," Dani eagerly beckoned her to enter as she threw the door wide open. "I’m with Lady Krisha and Lady Zaila at the moment."

"Oh, pardon me then," Dahlia quickly apologized with a half smile. "Would it be fine? Or should I just visit later..."

"It’s fine, you can join us for some tea," Zalia casually chimed in from behind. "The three of us just came back from checking on the Queen."

"They’re back?" Dahlia quickly asked. "What happened? Is she alright?"

Dani stared at Dahlia. Looking at the woman now, there was no doubt this was Rosela’s twin. It was like she was staring at Rosela except that their eyes were different. Dahlia had this genuine look in her eyes, while Rosela’s eyes were just plain bogus.

In truth, Dani was wary of Dahlia at first, knowing that she was the King’s first love. She even took the initiative to brief the woman the first time they’d met, telling her how the King and Queen were already madly in love with each other.

It might’ve sounded petty and silly, but she didn’t care. Dahlia should know from the start what her place should be in this current situation. Having another Rosela would just be such a pain in the ass... but thankfully, Dahlia seemed to be very different from her deceased twin. Still, it was better to just observe for now and not let their guard down.

"The Queen is well now. The King is with her, tending to her personally," Dani replied as she guided her guest to a vacant seat beside Krisha and Zaila. "Please have a seat."

At that, the ladies exchanged curt nods as Dani went and poured some tea into Dahlia’s cup.

"I came to ask about Rosela’s case," Dahlia quickly began as she grabbed the cup of tea given to her. "I believe Nik- His Majesty is a very busy person, and I don’t want to bug him asking simple things like this. I... I’m not familiar and updated with the current system being run in the palace yet. I want to know the whole story in detail. I just know that my twin sister did something to Nikolai to manipulate him with the help of a dark sorcerer."

"I can help you with that. His Majesty tasked Taro to do it for him, and I’m quite up to speed with the situation," Krisha promptly replied.

"For now though, Luis will be the one to handle it while I continue to get more information. Right now, they’re looking for a warlock named Nimue. That warlock has connections with Helion and was believed to be long dead upon King Arturo’s orders long ago. However, Taro discovered that the warlock isn’t really dead... As such, they’re on a hunt to try and track him down."

"Your sister Rosela was really something, you know," Zaila directly stated, swerving the topic away from the warlock. "She’s evil. In fact, are you ready to hear all the things she did just so she can have the King for herself? Thank the heavens that she didn’t succeed, but they’re still pretty amazing at how evil those deeds were.."

Dani shook her head as she let Zaila do her thing and tell everything to Dahlia without pause... After all, Dahlia deserved to find out the real truth about all that had happened to them.
