Chapter 215: The Corrupted Warlock
Chapter 215: The Corrupted Warlock
Making sure to be careful, Nikolai smoothly traveled in his mist with Mine so that she wouldn’t feel that they were currently moving. She was still unconscious, and he couldn’t help but curse himself for arriving too late to try and stop her.
This morning, he had heard Mine talking to him through their bond. He felt her sincerity with how many times she tried to apologize to him despite already saying how sorry she was in person.
Even though he wasn’t replying and purposely ignoring her, she still continued to talk to him. She was giving him updates on matters regarding Ezekiel, and he really appreciated the effort she put into them. Somehow, he felt at ease knowing that the Ebodian royal family wanted to try their best to find ways how to extract Vulcan’s soul and dispel it from Ezekiel’s body.
In addition, even after he left her, he had actually assigned a raven, with Darius’s permission, to roam around the castle of Cordon to look after Mine. In a sense, he was actually able to see his wife through its eyes whenever he felt like it. He didn’t know how long Mineah was planning to stay at Cordon, so he went ahead and snuck the raven in to spy on her. After all, not seeing her for far too long would make him go crazy.
"You’re so stubborn. Saving that woman not to see your sister cry... But how about me, Mine?" Nikolai whispered. "Don’t you know you almost killed me with how worried I am for you? I... I can’t lose you..."
Currently, Mineah was still unconscious in his sphere. All he wanted to do right now was to cuddle her in his arms and protect her at all costs. He had to persevere, and he knowingly ignored his own exhaustion as he traveled back to Valcrez as quickly as possible.
The moment they arrived, he went inside their bedchamber and gently lay his wife on the bed. He already called for her shadow maidens through Luis in advance, and sure enough, they were already waiting inside the bedchamber to check on her.
"What happened, Your Majesty?" Dani inquired as Zaila and Krisha began checking on Mineah’s situation.
Nikolai promptly summarized what happened. By the time he was done, Dani was in deep thought as she went over what she just heard.
"That... That’s a powerful spell... almost akin to battling the Demon King face to face," Dani muttered. "The Demon Blood Thread is just as strong as the Demon King’s power."
Frowning, Nikolai called for Luis who instantly appeared before him. "I assigned Taro to Lady Jayra to make sure she’s safe and unharmed. Her life and Mine’s are now intertwined because of everything that had happened," Nikolai briefed the man as he spoke. "All of Taro’s pending work will be tasked to you, so coordinate this with him closely."
"I understand, Your Majesty," Luis answered before Nikolai quickly dismissed him. Taro was the best of his Scions, so he would rather have him guard Lady Jayra with a few men with him.
With Mineah still unconscious, Nikolai stayed inside the bedchamber as he waited for Zaila to finish checking on her. Once she was done, he quickly stood up to receive the news.
"There’s nothing to worry about, Your Majesty," Zaila reassured him. "Her physical body is well, and her inner energy hasn’t been depleted. The Queen is merely exhausted, which is only natural since it is her first time performing the kind of spell she just did. She’ll wake up soon."
Nikolai nodded as he composed himself. "You three can go now. I’ll take over from here," he stated as he dismissed the shadow maidens. "Please ask the cook to bring some food up here. I’m sure Mine will be hungry once she wakes up. She needs to feed her body."

"I knew it," Hamon murmured with a grin. "I wasn’t wrong."
He was ecstatic. That angelic blood he smelled from the Queen was real. Right now, the news about it had already reached Valcrez, of how their Queen wasn’t purely human. First, it was proven during the incident in the province of Norma, and now the news of how her sister, the newly crowned Queen of Cordon, had somehow suddenly grown wings... A Nephilim, a human harboring angelic blood in their veins.
Currently, he was on his way to his secret dungeon where he did his usual illegal experiments led by Nimue. The moment he arrived, the warlock was quick to greet him.
"Master," Nimue immediately greeted him as soon as he was inside.
Haman smiled. "Did you read what I asked of you?"
"Yes, Master. I completed the potion," the warlock beamed. "This will definitely make you resistant to compulsion from any entity!"
Haman smirked. It took Nimue years to perfect the potion. He had asked for it because he didn’t want to be compelled and hypnotized by anyone, especially by his Mother! He hated it, but thinking about it now...
A cunning and sly smirk adorned his face. "I knew it. Something was amiss that day," Haman pondered. "She could have compelled me. She probably holds powers with her angel blood like her sister..." He then saw the potion and immediately went to grab it."Give me that!"
The moment he had his potion, Haman instantly drank it all. He then laughed evilly as he looked at Nimue. "Now to focus on perfecting the transfusion and make sure that it won’t have any side effects once you perform it with me..."
Nimue eagerly nodded with a wide grin. "I’ll get to it immediately, Master."
"Also, make sure not to leave this dungeon. Nikolai will be hunting you down," Haman informed him. "Now go. I brought everything you requested."
"I understand, Master," Nimue nodded before he excitedly ran to the room where he brought the dark stones and relics Haman collected upon his request.
Haman watched the older man work eagerly. Nimue was the best warlock he had ever encountered. He was involved in many crimes in their kingdom, and the former King Arturo had just ordered a hunt for the dark witch when he found him. It would be a waste to dispose of him, so he decided to make a few arrangements to save him and fabricated his death. He knew how much Nimue would be a good asset to his plans, and he was quick to enact them.
Apparently, this corrupted warlock was also the one that Rosela contacted to help her so that Nikolai would lose himself during the full moon and kill Dahlia. Nimue informed him about it back then, and he went ahead and gave the permission for him to assist Rosela on that matter.
Haman scoffed as a maniacal laugh erupted from his lips. "They all think I’m stupid...They’ll all be surprised to see what’s actually coming their way."
