Chapter 136: Invading My Dreams

Chapter 136: Invading My Dreams

Mineah smiled as she watched the servants move the bed Nikolai instructed them to prepare.

"This?" her sister Xenia whispered into her ear as they watched one of the servants move the bed.

"My husband apparently wanted it removed," Mineah chuckled. "He said he didn’t like the idea of me sleeping here in this adjacent chamber. He strongly wants us to sleep on the bed at all times even if we have any future fights, so he had this other bed removed."

While she didn’t like having one of her options removed, she really couldn’t see a scenario where she’d need the extra bed anyway. Also, to think she would boast about a scenario where she was losing some of her freedoms... It was kind of amusing to think about.

"Hah, that’s so clingy of him," Xenia teased. "Looks like you managed to trap the Vampire King in such a short time."

"Well, I for one believe I haven’t done that yet," Mineah countered. "At least, I haven’t gotten him to the point of how deeply in love and head over heels the Werewolf King is for you, Big Sister."

The two of them then shared a giggle and a blush, not minding the servants who just left the room as they enjoyed each other’s company. From there, Mineah and Xenia didn’t sleep as they both spent the night mostly talking and catching up with each other.

"So you mean to say that you’re able to telepathically communicate with Nikolai regardless of the distance right after he marked you?" Xenia asked as she commented and touched on Nikolai’s mark between Mineah’s neck and shoulder blade.

Mineah timidly nodded. Like she had already observed, the mark looked like a faint shadow of a soaring vulture, and it wasn’t actually that visible unless someone closely looked at it.

"Oh, that’s so nice," Xenia hummed with a smile. "It’s like how it is with werewolves then..."

"Hmm... Nikolai said that a werewolf’s marking is more intense since they’ll be able to feel your emotions as well..." Mineah pointed out as she began to lecture her sister.

"But then, a vampire’s telepathic ability is much more powerful and wider-reaching since they could still communicate with the others they turned. Unlike werewolves that could only talk with the mate they marked, vampires can talk to everyone associated with them like the Scions and Curbs they turned regardless of distance. Also, werewolves need a closer distance for their subordinates to hear them telepathically..."

"I see," Xenia pouted. "Ah, I’m so clueless about this things."

"You hate reading and lectures, Big Sis," Mineah teased. "What did you expect?"

Xenia blushed as she quickly turned the topic away from their previous discussion. "Anyway, does it hurt? Your mark, I mean."

"Not really," Mineah chuckled with a shrug. "I mean, you’ll just feel the quick sting of the fangs, I guess. But afterward, the feeling is honestly something unexplainable, Big Sis. It’s overwhelming! You’ll love it, especially when it’s with someone you like."

She chuckled upon seeing how her sister cupped her face and gently patted it. She could only assume that her sister was thinking about her husband again.

"So I’ll be able to talk to Darius in my mind after I get marked by him, I guess," Xenia hummed.

Mineah nodded. It was obvious to her that her sister was excited for what she assumed to be her own marking ceremony of some kind. "Yes, and the connection and bond between you two will be more intense," she hummed. "You can ask him more about it since my knowledge about it isn’t that great though. I mean, not everything is in the books."

Xenia nodded, and from there, they talked about a few more things. Eventually, however, she yawned, and Mineah was quick to note her sister’s exhaustion. "Come now. Let’s rest and sleep," she suggested. "I’m sure you’re already so tired."

Her sister nodded once more, and the two of them laid down on the bed to sleep and cuddle up with each other like old times. Snuggling into her sister’s side, Mineah felt so happy that her lips were basically stretched as widely as they could even as she closed her eyes.

A few moments later into her sleep, Mineah dreamt about her wonderful times with her siblings inside their castle home. It was one of her more recent memories where the three of them were playing hide and seek.

Yes, they used to play such a game often even though they were already grown-ups. Currently in her dream, she was counting down with her eyes closed while her siblings began to hide.

"It’s sad that I didn’t get to experience playing this game..."

Mineah jolted at the familiar voice in her ear. She quickly opened her eyes, and sure enough, she saw Nikolai’s smiling face staring right at her.

"You’re invading my dreams again," she pouted.

"I can’t help it, Mine. I miss you already," Nikolai reasoned. "I feel so lonely inside our bedchamber. You’re so near to me, and yet I can’t cross over and scare your sister now, can’t I?"

She squinted her eyes at him. "Don’t you dare try anything... Or else..."

Nikolai chuckled as he massaged his nape. "I promised you already that I’ll behave for today, Mine," he insisted. "Anyway, I also wanted to inform you that the necessary arrangements have already been made for our travel tomorrow to the Ebodian Encampment together with the reinforcements we’re bringing with us. We’ll travel by sea, and we’ll be leaving as soon as we’ve dropped your sister and Darius off at the port."

Mineah blinked at him and murmured, "You’re coming with me?"

She had thought that she would be traveling alone. Having Nikolai along with her would only complicate matters. At worst, he would limit her movements in trying to help her brother.

"You don’t want me to go with you?" Nikolai questioned with furrowed brows.

"Oh, that’s not what I meant... It’s just that... Hmm... Aren’t you busy here? I’ll be leaving, so it’s only natural for you to stay," she explained her reasoning with a faint smile. "Our Kingdom needs their king, and I don’t want the officials to gossip behind our back again saying that I’m a bad influence on you or that I used some kind of magic on you to manipulate you."

While she would’ve loved to be with him, now wasn’t the time for it to happen. At least, not now while she was on a mission to save her brother.

"Abel is here to handle the matters while I’m gone. Besides, I still can communicate with my people even if I’m far away, so I’ll be well informed if there would be any problems while I’m away," Nikolai reasoned back with a frown. "I can’t just let this go, Mine. A dragon is currently constantly appearing over the battlegrounds after all, so my people would understand why my presence is more needed on the battlefield."

Mineah could only bite her inner lip as she stopped herself from pushing the topic further. She would only look more suspicious if she tried to further talk him out of coming with her. Instead, she simply nodded and smiled. There was no need for her to push her luck.

"Fine then. We’ll just let things come as they go," she sighed as she smirked. "Now come and turn around so that I can sit on your back. You said you’ll carry me around, let me jump on your back then." She let out a scoff as she added, "I’d prefer if you carried me that way while we roamed around."

Despite her current disposition, Mineah was already thinking up of ways to try and get herself out of this situation. She had to think carefully on how she could salvage this whole thing with Nikolai tagging along with her to the Ebodian Encampment.
