Chapter 137: Deep Feelings
The next morning, Mineah woke up early to start the day. Turning to her side, she looked at her sister Xenia who was still in deep sleep. She supposed she would have to be careful not to wake her up then.
Carefully, Mineah quietly moved out of bed before immediately grabbing the clothes she needed to wear. She then walked toward the connecting door her room had to Nikolai’s bedroom. Well, according to him, that was their official bedroom as husband and wife, so it was technically her bedroom now as well.
Shrugging, she quietly went inside and was instantly greeted by Nikolai’s charming face. Mineah felt her heart pound erratically at the sight of him. It was often like this, she noticed, and she could only wonder if there would ever come a time that his simple smiles wouldn’t make her heart flutter like this.
"Good morning, Mine," he greeted.
Smiling, she walked towards him and lovingly hugged him. Burying her face into his sturdy chest, she murmured, "Good morning, Lai."
She then tilted her head up and tiptoed a bit to give his lips a gentle peck. Immediately, Nikolai’s face reddened, and she loved how he still had those cheeky smiles on his face despite his blush.
"Let me fix myself first, then let’s head out," she smiled. "I want to prepare breakfast for my sister."
"Oh, I’m afraid you don’t have to do that," Nikolai stopped her before he explained why. "You see, Darius is already in the kitchen making all the servants there busy. He’s preparing breakfast for your sister right now. He said he wants to deliver it to her bed as soon as she wakes up."
Mineah raised an eyebrow at that. Well, last night, her sister mentioned that she was punishing Darius since the latter kept some details about their missing brother away from her despite already being aware of the situation. At that, he wasn’t at fault though. After all, it was their mother’s request for him to keep such information away from her sister Xenia.
It was different for her though since she was able to read her sister’s mind yesterday. From that alone, she was able to confirm that her sister would be able to handle the news about Ezekiel decently. That was why she decided to tell the truth to her about their brother.
"I see... I’ll be getting ready then. Let’s have breakfast together with Mother," Mineah hummed. "It’s been a while, after all, and I remember that she wants me to have breakfast with her so that we can talk about Dani and Abel’s Coupling Rites."
But just before she could move, she blinked as Nikolai’s arms remained firmly wrapped around her waist. "Let go, Lai," she murmured with a chuckle.
Nikolai didn’t budge, however. Instead, he simply stared deeply into her eyes. It was times like these that she really regretted that her powers wouldn’t work on him. She would’ve loved to read whatever it was that was happening inside his head right now.
"What’s wrong?" she murmured with a pout. "I need to get changed and get ready for today, Lai."
Thankfully, Nikolai eventually let go of his hug on her. But not without letting out a heavy sigh as he did so.
Smiling, she stretched her lips wide as she said, "Thank you."
Finally free, Mineah quickly got out of his grasp and immediately went into the private bathing area. Today, she could finally let her shadow maidens go out and have fun and roam around the city. She would tend to herself alone, and it was something that she was honestly looking forward to.

Meanwhile, Nikolai didn’t leave the room as he simply sat on the edge of the bed. Crossing his legs together, he stared at the door of their private bathing area where Mineah was doing her thing. He was so tempted to barge in and take her, but he managed to control himself just before he stood up and did the deed.
Last night, he had already assessed himself, and he was confident enough that he had already developed deep feelings for his wife. However, for some reason, he wanted to observe the situation more and see just how their relationship would grow.
Still, he found himself anticipating Mine’s every little action around him. He could feel her efforts to make him fall in love with her, and he loved having that kind of feeling... of feeling so special whenever he was around her...
But then, he also wondered how long he could last with what little his remaining control allowed him to do. It was truly so little now that he was being threatened to just go and snap sooner or later.
’I want her first to be very special though...’ he mused with a sigh.
He wanted to plan everything meticulously, and he chuckled alone like a crazy man with how creative and romantic he had become by even thinking of things like this. He was never like this before, even to Dahlia when she was still alive.
Right, Dahlia... He had almost forgotten today’s plan to visit her tomb with Mineah.
After a few moments, Nikolai could already smell Mineah’s pleasing scent approaching. She was done, it would seem, and he did his best to look as natural as possible as he addressed her.
"Lai? You’re still here?" she hummed.
He raised his head to meet her questioning gaze. Standing up, he walked towards her.
"Come here," he hummed as he led her to sit on the vanity table in front of the mirror. He then grabbed a towel and helped her dry her hair as he humorously stated, "Since your handmaidens aren’t available, let me serve my wife for now."
Mineah’s face flushed at his words, and Nikolai couldn’t help himself from bending down and hugging her from behind. He had his chin resting on her shoulder as he stared into her reflection in the mirror.
"What is this? Aren’t you my servant for the day?" Mineah joked. "Hurry up and do my hair as well."
Nikolai chuckled. But instead of doing what she said, he ended up kissing her neck, licking and suckling on her skin before-
*Knock *Knock *Knock
"Nikolai, come out now."
Nikolai froze as he frowned and hissed, "Damn that barking dog!"
"You blood-sucking bat. I can hear you cursing me from here," Darius jokingly hissed back from behind the door. "This is important, so come out and continue whatever you’re doing later."
