The Crown's Seduction
Chapter 126: Their Kind

Chapter 126: Their Kind

The days passed by, and Mineah eventually became busy with her role as the new Queen of the Kingdom. While her movements were no longer restrained because the Midnight Sun had already arrived, that didn’t mean that she could easily go around due to her responsibilities.

Regardless, she had maintained close contact with wizard Lurio regarding the progress of the search for her brother Ezekiel. She also had a stable exchange of communications with her mother as well, who was now currently on her way to Ebodian Camp to help with the search.

Speaking of which, Mineah sighed as she attached the parchment she just wrote to their royal pigeon to deliver the letter to her mother.

[Master, I’m back!] Nik hummed through their bond as it perched itself comfortably on the backrest of the chair near her open window. [Did you miss me?]

Mineah chuckled. "Welcome back, Nik. You did a great job," she sincerely complimented her familiar. "Thank you for being a medium for me to watch my sister. I’m so proud of her, and I can’t wait for her to arrive."

[Well, all I can say is that you’re lucky that you didn’t end up like your sister, Master,] Nik couldn’t help but voice its opinion. [I mean, I found it so ridiculous for her to fight her way through all that just so she can be the Queen of Cordon. Those werewolves and that kingdom’s traditions are so unfair to humans!]

"Hmm... That’s what my sister wants though. She didn’t want to skip the trials like the King wanted," Mineah proudly hummed. "Either way, my sister will definitely pass those trials with flying colors."

And she believed it too. She knew that her sister Xenia would make it. After all, they were no ordinary humans because of the special blood flowing through their veins.

"Your Majesty, the carriage is ready," Dani informed her as soon as she entered the extension room by Nikolai’s bedchamber.

Mineah hummed. She was thankful that she even had such a place to begin with. It was where she kept her wardrobe and most of her important things. It was also where she often changed her clothes. All in all, the extension room was basically another bedchamber for the Queen complete with all the amenities she needed except for a bed.

Well, she heard there was a bed inside there once, but Nikolai had it removed according to Gregory. She smiled at her husband’s antics. His insistence that they sleep in the same bed even if they encounter fights in the future was honestly quite endearing.

"How about Lai then?" she asked. Today was the day they had to welcome her sister Xenia and the King of Cordon, after all.

"The meeting has already finished," Dani informed her with a smile. "The King is currently now on his way here, milady..."

Mineah nodded as she watched her own reflection in the mirror. It would seem that time had quickly passed without her knowing.

"Let me put your crown on now, milady," Dani hummed.

At that, Mineah sat so Dani could properly put it on her head. Staring at her reflection in the mirror, she hummed, "I’m so excited to be with my sister, Dani."

"I’m so happy for you, milady," Dani commented. "There, you look so elegant, yet mysterious, milady," Dani added with a smile. Combined with a filigree of gold with diamonds, the vulture symbol of Valcrez was displayed front and center, as was a custom in the Kingdom of Valcrez.

Mineah looked closely at Dani though ignoring her compliment, prompting Dani to ask, "What is it, milady?"

"Are you really sure that you’re going to agree to be the Chancellor’s wife?" she asked.

Dani chuckled. "You’ve already asked me the same question, milady," she teased. "I almost feel like I’ve already lost count of it all."

Mineah shrugged. "I’m just worried. I want to make sure that you know what you’re getting into," she murmured. "Like I said, I’ll support whatever your decision may be, Dani. But for some reason, I couldn’t help but feel uneasy..."

"Hmm... You said before that you hope to see us having our own families. After careful thinking about it, the Chancellor is actually a good catch." Dani pointed out with a shrug. "I do believe that I’m fortunate enough to have a man like him, milady. He’s someone close to His Majesty, and..."

"And he’s someone in love and in a secret relationship with Rosela," Mineah continued, cutting Dani off midway.

"Yes, but Rosela’s already gone," Dani murmured. "And honestly, I pity him..."

Mineah’s brow furrowed as she hummed. "Pitying is different from liking a person. But then again, as someone who married for an alliance, I guess I have no right to judge or even have a say on this," she shrugged. "Either way, just know that I’m always here for you, Dani. If you want to back out, you still have time. I will support you regardless."

"I know, milady," Dani chuckled. "Don’t worry, you’ll be the first to know if I’ll ever need anything or change my mind."

"Alright then," Mineah hummed as she looked at herself in the mirror and stood up. "Let’s go."

Satisfied with her look, they were just about to leave the room when yet another person announced his presence.

"My wife looks so regal and lovely to the point that I can’t take my eyes off you," Nikolai commented as he leaned on the door frame. "I’m just tempted to lock you in here and let nobody have a sight of your beauty."

Mineah shook her head. "Come now. Let’s go," she eagerly stated. "I want to be at the port early. There’s no way you can lock me in here now while I’m too excited to welcome my sister!"

Chuckling, Nikolai extended his hand out for her to hold. "Shall we then, my wife?"

Mineah gladly took his hand, and the two of them made their way to their carriage. It was only dawn, but the sun was already shining brightly up in the sky as the midnight sun continued.

"How long till we arrive at the port?" Mineah hummed.

"It won’t take that long since they’ll arrive at the main port near the capital, Mine..." Nikolai replied as he assisted her into the carriage.

Nodding to him, Mineah waited for him to settle into his seat beside her as she replied, "I bet my sister is utterly exhausted right now. Her training wasn’t simple..."

"That’s true, and I honestly find it absurd," Nikolai noted. "I mean, I couldn’t help but wonder how your sister would even pass those trials inside the forest and then compete with werewolves in combat."

"Well, my sister is a very competitive person," Mineah boasted. "She’s someone who won’t give up so easily. You’ll see. She’ll succeed eventually."

"Hmm... You sound so confident that I can’t help but think that you might have a family secret," Nikolai hummed. "Think about it, your blood doesn’t really taste like any normal human blood that I’ve had."

"What are you saying?" Mineah awkwardly chuckled. "I told you, it’s probably because I have a curse..."

She did her best to keep a straight face. She knew that sooner or later, this truth about their kind would soon be known, especially now that her sister Xenia would need to pass and fight for the trials to become Queen. But for now, Mineah would keep it a secret from Nikolai. She would tell him about it eventually, of course... Just not yet...
