It didn’t take long for their carriage to arrive at the port. She smiled at how grand the welcoming party for her sister was. There were soldiers aligned in uniforms as well as a trumpet band. There were also flowers and gifts that her husband had arranged for them.

"They’re here," Nikolai whispered into her ear as they walked to their place to stand.

Mineah nodded, and they watched as Xenia’s figure appeared. She had a wide smile on her face as she watched Xenia almost run her way to her.

"Mineah!" Xenia called out, not minding her surroundings as usual.

Mineah had a broad smile as she opened her arms wide to accept her pouncing. "Big sister... You never change. Why run when you can just walk?" she scolded with her usual gentle and sweet demeanor. "It’s not like you’re chasing after me, you know."

"I missed you," Xenia murmured.

"Hmmm... Come now. Show your respects to King Nikolai first," Mineah whispered into her ear as she stroked her sister’s back and hugged her tightly. After all, they were not alone to be so casual. The eyes of the Valcrezians were all on them.

With Mineah breaking the hug, her sister immediately straightened her back and gave her courteous greeting to Nikolai.

"Your Highness, apologies for my abrupt actions," Xenia greeted with a smile and a humble bow. "Thank you for accommodating our visit..."

"That’s alright, Xen," King Darius of Cordon suddenly interrupted with a laugh. "Show him how barbaric you can be so that Nikolai can thank me later for snatching you away from him."

"Spurting out nonsense again, Darius?" Nikolai scoffed as the two men bumped into each other’s chest and hugged like how they used to do back during their encounter at the great hall of Ebodia Castle. The two didn’t care about their surroundings too, indicating just how close their friendship truly was.

"I hope you brought enough bribes with you to appease my royal council," Nikolai mumbled as the two finished their usual greetings.

"I did, my friend," Darius nodded, signaling for his men to roll out the chests they brought with them. "Hopefully, these would be enough to seal their mouths."

Mineah watched as the caravan of riches trailed out of the King of Cordon’s ship.

[These riches couldn’t even compare to the treasure I got in my arms right now. Xen is my greatest treasure in life.]

Mineah held a satisfied smile as she read the mind of the Werewolf King. Oh, how she wanted to tease her sister right at that moment, but that could wait.

She gave Nikolai a meaningful look, and the latter turned to Xenia and said, "Milady, you and my wife will ride in the carriage so that you two can have some privacy during our journey to Corvus Palace."

"Come then. Let’s go so that we can arrive at the palace in time for a feast," Mineah commented with a smile before quickly pulling her sister inside the carriage.

As soon as they were inside, Xenia turned to Mineah and immediately asked, "So, how was it so far? Is the king treating you well?"

Mineah blushed as she murmured, "Please don’t worry about me. I’m quite well, and the king is being very good to me."

"Hmm... I won’t ponder too much about it knowing how private of a person you are, my dear little sister," Xenia beamed. "Just make sure to tell me if you do encounter any problems. I know you won’t open up to our parents if you’re having a hard time, so please, Mineah... Always run to me if you encounter any problems, alright?"

Mineah nodded and murmured, "You always protect me, Sister."

"Who else would? Us siblings should always have each other’s backs, Mineah. Likewise, I expect you or Ezekiel to help me out whenever I have problems," Xenia chuckled. "Hmm, remember when our parents would always tell us that?"

Mineah nodded in agreement.

"Also, I haven’t heard anything from our brother yet. Have you somehow heard anything from him?" Xenia asked. "It’s been a while, but I’m sure he should’ve already sent a word to Jayra by now. She’ll probably give it to me once I return if it’s not something too urgent."

Mineah’s face paled. Her mother wanted her to keep her sister in the dark regarding the disappearance of their brother. Xenia had a lot in her mind already, and the last thing they wanted was to plague her big sister with worry, especially since her own trials in the kingdom of Cordon were sill coming up.

"What’s wrong?" Xenia worriedly asked. She probably noticed how her face had lost its color.

"Uhm, it’s nothing, Sister," Mineah replied with a reassuring smile as she quickly changed the topic. "About Brother, I’ve heard that the war is to our advantage, so you don’t need to worry too much."

She then added, "Uhm, can you tell me how your training has come so far? You should focus more on securing the throne beside King Darius. Make sure that you show them that the Princess of Ebodia shouldn’t be looked down upon." She encouraged her, "We have special blood in us, Sister, and it’s time that everyone knew the power we hold within us..."

"Hmm, but I thought Mother and Father prefer for it to be hidden... About the angel blood and Mother’s kind, I mean," Xenia muttered with a frown.

"Mother and Father wouldn’t encourage you to participate in the trials to become Queen if they still wanted to hide the truth," Mineah firmly stated. "I strongly believe that everyone should know the power the monarchs of Ebodia hold so that no kingdom would dare to attempt to conquer us like what’s happening now."

That was her true opinion. For so many years, her parents tried their best to keep it hidden. Their mother was one of the angels tasked by Heaven to look after the humans in this world, but her mother did something that was forbidden for their kind... She fell in love with a human... their father. From there, her mother was banished by the Almighty, becoming a fallen angel on Earth.
