Chapter 124: I Can’t Lose You...
Eyes closed, Mineah yawned as she sat up on her bed. Somehow, she felt like she was so exhausted that she wanted to go back to sleep. Was it because she overdid herself with the intimate dream she had?
Her face reddened as an image of her and Nikolai making love all the way flashed through her head. It was an exceptional experience, and she could only wonder if it would feel the same in reality.
She had heard that making love for the first time was painful for women, but that wasn’t the case in her dreams. Everything just happened perfectly. There was no pain, but only pleasure.
She absently raised and stretched her arms before letting out another yawn. She was more tired than usual, but she supposed that-
"How about you sleep some more, Mine? Looks like you’re still sleepy."
Mineah abruptly opened her eyes the moment she heard Nikolai’s familiar voice. Blinking at him, he was currently sitting on the edge of her bed while staring closely at her with a mischievous smile.
Unknowingly, she pinched her arm as if it would wake her up from the dream she thought she was having.
"Ouch!" she cried out as she felt the pain.
"Yes, you’re not dreaming, Mine," Nikolai confirmed with a smile. "I’m here right now. Close to you."
Shaking her head, she turned to the direction of the balcony and gasped upon seeing the dazzling and radiant rays of the sun outside.
"The Midnight Sun..." she hummed.
She then turned her gaze back to Nikolai, her husband then cupping her face and making her stare into his eyes.
"Yes, it’s finally here, so I can finally be here with you," he stated with a soft smile. "As soon as they’re awake, your handmaidens will be instructed to pack everything they can so that all of you can transfer your lodgings over to my residence inside the Corvus Palace."
He then let out a needy sigh as he stared deep into her eyes. "You don’t know how many days I’ve been torturing myself being limited to just entering your dreams to have your company."
"What?" she burst out with a frown. "You invaded my dreams?"
Nikolai nodded with a timid smile. "I’m sorry, Mine. I didn’t intend to hide my ability to easily enter your dreams after marking you, but I just couldn’t help it," he apologetically mumbled. "I mean, I knew you would control yourself inside your dreams if you knew I was entering them, so I just kept you in the dark so that you’ll be comfortable."
Her face fell even further as she scoffed, "Comfortable? I bet you just did that so that you can spy inside my dreams and see whatever I want to do inside my head." She let out an annoyed grumble, "This is so embarrassing... Since when did you even start entering my dreams? Just after the Coupling Rites?"
"It’s not embarrassing, Mine," Nikolai chuckled, deftly dodging her question. "You’re being adorable and alluring..."
Mineah blushed at his statement. However... "You’re not answering my question," she murmured with a pout as she tried to keep her composure. She couldn’t embarrass herself further in front of her sly husband, especially after he just told her that he was practically invading her privacy.
’So all those lewd and erotic dreams??!! All those times... He was there!’
"Well, ever since I gave you the blood ring," Nikolai confessed. "And without you removing it..., I’ll be able to enter your dreams without much effort. My blood is inside the ruby which allows it to work. I’ve only entered your dreams since then..."
Mineah’s eyes widened at the bloody ring she adored so much. She didn’t even remove it from her finger even once.
"You... How could you invade my privacy!?" she growled with a dark glare, practically throwing daggers at him with her stare alone.
Despite her anger, Nikolai didn’t seem to mind her staring at him like that. Instead, he just leaned closer and whispered into her lips, "I’m sorry for invading your privacy like that, Mine... But I won’t apologize for everything that I did in your dreams."
He gave her a determined look as he stated, "If given another chance, I will not hesitate to do the same thing all over again..."
Mineah inwardly cursed. She was annoyed, but at the same time, she was getting affected by how close he currently was. Her heart was beating madly just from her looking at his eyes staring at her parted lips.
"Just like your dream a while ago... I’ve been waiting for this day to come, and finally it’s here," he seductively hummed, his warm breath kissing her lips. "Am I the only one going crazy in here?"
"I..."
Mineah stammered. Instead of answering, eventually, she gathered enough courage to just go and give Nikolai a smacking kiss on his lips. Their lips touched for a brief second, and he simply chuckled while her face practically burned with embarrassment.
"That’s not a proper kiss," he murmured with a playful smirk. "Haven’t I taught you enough about how you should kiss your husband? It’s been a while, Mine, and dreams don’t count..."
"I’m already hungry..." she mumbled out of nowhere with a pout. She wasn’t faking it as well. She had woken up with a grumbling stomach, and it was a good enough excuse for her to escape from her husband’s intense stare.
It almost felt like he was ready to eat her alive, and she was far from ready to compromise just yet. She didn’t want him to die, so there was no way she would let him consummate their marriage this early. At least, not until she was assured that Nikolai truly loved her already.
Currently, it was probably still too early for her to even ask him that... He had been on a lot of rollercoasters because of Rosela and her schemes, and the most important thing, for now, was that he was free from the burden of Dahlia’s death. It would be safe for her to assume that there would be no hindrances now, for her to easily capture his heart, and she would make sure to do so before they did the deed.
Somehow, these optimistic thoughts brightened her mood enough for her to glow with a beautiful smile that lingered on her face.
"Alright, let me feed you first then..." Nikolai loudly sighed as he shrugged. "How could I even refuse when you’ve been showering me with all those sweet smiles and twinkling eyes of yours?"
"But isn’t it still dawn?" she hummed as she thought of the servants still sleeping at that moment.
"Well, it doesn’t matter for vampires like us," Nikolai informed her. "All the servants assigned to you barely sleep, especially the cook. In fact, he’s on his way now with some dishes..."
"That fast?" Mineah murmured.
Almost as if on cue, she heard a loud knock on the door. The servant entered, and sure enough, he was carrying a tray of meals for her to eat.
"Serve it outside the balcony," Nikolai instructed. "We’ll eat there."
Mineah watched as the cook along with a few servants prepared a feast outside her balcony. Nikolai then dismissed them all as soon as everything was done.
"Why do I have a feeling that you still want to drag along our long-delayed consummation?" Nikolai whispered into her ear as they walked towards the balcony.
"I simply don’t want to risk you dying on me, Lai..." Mineah directly answered. "I can’t lose you..."
