Chapter 415: Chapter 349: BOSS Crimson Knight_2

One of the most mesmerizing aspects of a free exploration game is that it can lead you astray.

In other words, if a game can’t get you lost, it’s not a good open-world game, a sentiment the Undead are now experiencing.

The Undead, navigating through a moss-covered forest and avoiding poisonous frogs that leap out, predictably got lost in its depths.

"Woo woo woo~"

"Did you hear something?"

A woman with her back to the Undead appeared, sitting on dew-covered moss, revealing her pale thighs.

"After holding out for so long, is it finally my turn to fall for a beauty’s trap?"

If the woman were only crying, the Undead might actually show some kindness.

Still, there’s a but.

But she had a health bar over her head.

Traveling through the forest to the swamp, the Undead caused quite a commotion.

Black Island.

Marvin, a dual-wielding rogue, quickly navigated the complicated network of narrow streets, seeking the fastest way to the Lord’s Hall from the entrance of Black Island, which definitely wasn’t by following the roads that left one’s head spinning more than busying oneself atop the dusty skirt of a certain woman.

He knew a quicker path, through the second-floor window of the miller’s, striding across rooftops, careful to step on the ridges, lest a mud-covered old crone would spring out wielding a knife, ready to kill.

After one leap, stepping on the trunk in front, he deftly flipped onto the second floor of the Lord’s Building.

The Soldiers had seen him already, but they were used to his mode of arrival.

With the rainy season upon them, the Soldiers could hardly bear the siege of downpours in the City Lord’s Hall; floors above the second would gradually become the main area of activity for everyone.

Upon seeing the tall, thin figure in the room, the rogue Marvin immediately said, "The Rand Legion has moved, targeting us. They’re passing through the forest and the swamp, and will arrive in a week or two at most."

The Black Catfish Prince looked down at the map, just as Lind had assessed before, he was adept in all skills related to homicide.

Nothing pleased him more on the battlefield than slaughtering the enemy, and in large numbers.

"They are tough to handle," the Black Catfish Prince held Lind in high esteem, otherwise, he wouldn’t have fled back to Black Island as promptly as he had when Lind headed toward Raven City, "Wizards, Great Knights, his army is the epitome of efficiency, and they come equipped with top-quality Enchanted Armor, weapons, and even siege engines."

But the Black Catfish Prince was clearly not in the mood to surrender. On the verge of madness, a voice arose in his mind, and while it failed to control him, it unexpectedly brought back a glint of sanity before he went insane.

Madness still lingered, intertwined and bothering him along with reason.

"We don’t have much time. They will surely pass by the narrow bridge; without a boat, it’s the only way to the island."

If by boat, it was even simpler: as defenders, Black Island had enough Flames to greet those moving target sitting ducks below the city walls.

"Ambush here, wait for their army to cross the bridge, then strike." the Black Catfish Prince declared.

"Either they take the river and face death nine out of ten times—I’m guessing their Soldiers can hold, but what awaits them will be a head-on blow. Get ready."

"Understood," Marvin, the dual-wielder, nodded.

This wasn’t some praiseworthy display of superior war strategy; if one wished to attack Black Island, this was the only path to take.

"What will defeat Lind and the Rand Legion won’t be our ambush, but their own arrogance."

...

The Crimson - Knight Arena,

the stronghold of the ’Flame Worm’ faction, dubbed so for a simple reason: the being capable of bestowing ’flame worms’ was held captive in the deepest part of the arena.

Every night, one could hear roars and curses—the scalding hot Giant, the Crimson Knight - Black Gold!

Clinging to defiance, he was browsing forums and videos, and as the "public test" announcement appeared, a plethora of informative videos sprung up like bamboo after rain.

Tons of them.

He’d also received several interview invites, with many leading video bloggers in the real world looking to grab a piece of the action early, but "Doomsday Magic Ring" took the game lightly, not caring about bloggers one bit.

Before the public test, everyone called it a scam, a web series in the making. Yet, as the public test date neared, eager bloggers were scrambling to get in through various means.

Being able to play the game in one’s sleep was not just a game spot—it was a ticket to the new age!

Every Undead who had made a name in the game received invitations, and ’Hard-Mouth’, who was mockingly called ’Soft Rice Brother’, left the deepest impression.

"Wheelchair Skills? Wheelchair weapons? For new players who want to get stronger in the game, the best way is to farm favorability. There’s no skill more exhilarating than summoning a strong being to help push through the map."

"The mightiest wheelchair isn’t some Lion Slash, but having someone behind you to push."

The howling once again raged from the depths of the arena.

That grating roar, it was as if countless iron claws were scraping nerves, causing deep-seated irritation.

Ever since his first encounter with the Crimson Knight, Hard-Mouth had not interacted with him again. The high ranks of the Flame Worm faction kept avoiding letting more people meet him, claiming the Old Nobility possessed a power that would corrupt the mind.

However, Hard-Mouth didn’t believe those claims because, as far as he knew, there was an Old Nobility thriving in Goliath right now.

There definitely was a hidden storyline!
