Chapter 416: Chapter 349: BOSS Crimson Knight_3
No undead could refuse a hidden plot.
He was now one of the high-levels too, relying on his ’chocolate wife’. Many were aware of his reputation, which, in the eyes of the undead, was nothing like living off a woman; it was the fearless and stubbornly defiant who became the revered strong among NPCs.
Entering the dungeon holding the Crimson Knight, it actually was the audience chamber of the domain. He could see a large throne in the spacious room, flanked by torches, supporting the ceiling were seemingly superfluous stone pillars; typically, this place would be filled with fully armed soldiers.
Yet now, the audience chamber was desolate—the Fire Gecko Society had seized it and imprisoned the lord of the land deep within, bound to a great stone platform with chains and magic.
A roar sounded again.
Stubborn in his defiance, he followed the direction of the noise, burrowing into the corridor, which was dimly lit.
He lit a torch; guided by the light, his vision penetrated the gloom, finding a low passage on the dark wall. He ducked his head as he approached.
He knocked softly on the door.
"No one?" he said, somewhat surprised.
Exceptions notwithstanding, there should have been soldiers on guard; the Crimson Knight was the "cornerstone" of the Fire Gecko Society.
He felt uneasy, but the "hidden plot" incessantly goaded his nerves, being an undead centered around himself, he could accept all sudden events apart from the mundane, seeing them as natural.
He pushed open the door although there was no fog gate or anything else; he still instinctively drew his weapon.
He stepped inside.
The path differed from the ones he had previously taken, yet as he moved deeper, it became more and more familiar, and he heard a woman’s voice muttering something like "constellations," incessantly repeating "constellations."
Just then, a powerful roar burst forth ahead.
Caught off guard, he quickly dove to the ground as a piece of broken stone whizzed past his scalp and embedded itself deep into the wall behind him, kicking up dust.
He didn’t need to hazard moving forward to see what awaited him; a giant-like figure had already charged at him.
[Old Nobility·Crimson Knight·Black Gold, lv31]
The blood-red name loomed above; the opponent had successfully broken free from his bonds.
"It’s gonna be bad!" he was very sure of this in his mind.
The next moment, he had been reduced to ashes.
When he resurrected, he appeared at the edge of the Crimson Knight arena, where a giant nearly five meters tall was rampaging under a rain of arrows, causing buildings to collapse and raising dust enough for the Fire Gecko Society’s people to witness a massacre.
A true Old Nobility gets free, a wild beast returns to the forest.
A large number of Fire Gecko Society members surged out, images of palm-sized fire geckos appearing on their bodies, their ethereal figures clawing at the giant.
Regrettably, under the "skills mechanism", he could not do this; he could only have his own fire gecko spring into action when causing damage in an attack, and it was utterly impossible for him to control it actively.
However, the makeup of the Fire Gecko Society was very complex, and combat just happened to be their weakest aspect.
The giant’s berserk fighting style was horrifying; as dozens of fire geckos turned into blazes and collided with the Crimson Knight, a fire gecko also sprang to life leaping from behind the opponent.
The difference was that this fire lizard was even larger than the Crimson Knight. It loomed like a small mountain, looking down upon the newly hatched young lizards around it.
With a gentle sweep of its tail, the young fire lizards were wiped out entirely.
This was an arena, and what awaited these creatures now was nothing but slaughter. No one knew how they had captured the Crimson Knight before, and it was clear they couldn’t replicate that scene now.
What was certain, they would now pay for their actions with their blood.
Still stubborn, he hurried out of the fire lizard arena with the help of his "wheelchair."
"We must get out of here!" the female chocolate warrior exclaimed, pulling him along.
She was fond of his stubbornness. Perhaps it was indeed his obstinacy, or maybe something else. Although they were temporary spouses, fleeing together would definitely be safer.
Society factions, gathering places, camps, whatever it was, they were just to huddle together to survive. If everyone was having a good day, maybe they’d even spare a thought to engage in a battle for power.
Now was the time to run.
And they had to run faster than anyone else.
The arena was shattering, human bodies were tossed into the sky like debris, blooming over the arena like flowers before cascading down like rain in bursts of crimson.
The woman was still pulling him along, but he grabbed her hand to hold her still and asked, "Have you ever considered joining the Rand Kingdom and becoming a mercenary? I hear they are quite open."
"I sure..." the curse words reached the tip of the chocolate woman’s tongue but she forcefully swallowed them.
A group of Rand Soldiers, unbeknownst to when, had quietly surrounded the entire Crimson Knight arena, and Lind Armand, only previously seen in videos by the stubborn man, approached with a notorious stride.
He didn’t give them a single glance, which allowed the stubborn man to breathe a sigh of relief, understanding that it was now "time to watch the CG."
Lind walked toward the Crimson Knight.
His burly figure seemed frail and tiny like a child in front of the Crimson Knight.
The stubborn man documented the scene before him; the utterly irrational Old Nobility Crimson Knight, panting heavily, but upon seeing Lind, he managed to suppress his inner madness.
"Lind?" he roared out loudly.
"Crimson Knight, I am now a General of the Rand Legion, Duke of Mountain Demon Castle, and have helped Queen Rania reclaim the Royal City Goliath," he recounted his achievements slowly, though his tone was as casual as if he were making small talk.
"I heard you were resting here, so I specifically came to invite you. Right now, the Rand Kingdom needs talent; you might even inherit your father’s title," he said.
Thereafter, everyone in attendance saw a small mountain kneel on one knee.
Under the "stars," the Crimson Knight regained his sanity and made a decision in an instant.
The fire lizard, entirely made of energy, also mimicked and bowed its head in reverence.
Flames spread on the ground forming a luminescent film.
"To battle for you, my lord."
