Chapter 243: Chapter 211 Calamity Breeding Farm
Two weeks’ time.
Lind hadn’t been able to completely control the Queen, but he became increasingly adept at sorting out her chaotic emotions and memories. The most direct evidence of this was his ability to subdue a Catastrophe Warhorse with the Lost Soul Chains in just a few blinks of an eye.
His Mental Power was being honed passively, and in turn, it grew stronger.
His control over the Bugs was also deepening.
Indeed, the Bugs had a kind of external transplantation signalling tendrils that could receive remote frequency signals, almost identical to the method used by the lost soul knights, the difference being that they possessed this organ from the moment they were created.
Without the Undead, time seemed to speed up countless folds.
During this period, Lind returned once to Star Dragon City, where, under everyone’s gaze, Flame Tumor Alex scorched the corpses of the fallen Great Knights with fire.
Afterward, he took up permanent residence in the underground world, striving to fully control the Queen and thereby restrain these Bugs.
Dome also brought back some good news and bad news.
He carried a long scroll, longer than his beard, that unfolded like a carpet on the ground, densely filled with text. Two weeks’ time had provided him with a lot of information.
"This is not a racial war, just a magic out of control. I guess that guy who studied Limb Attachment Magic was a lunatic. He seemed more interested in directly taking power from others, and showed resistance to improving himself through learning and practice," Dome said.
"Bloodline," Lind said. He could see through to the essence because he was the beneficiary of a bloodline.
"That’s right," Dome nodded. "Bloodline, the noble power of bloodline, but he seems to have failed. The things he created couldn’t enhance himself, cursed like his initial lowliness, unable to grow in strength through learning."
It was possible to obtain the power of a bloodline through Limb Attachment Magic, but it was impossible to advance in learning, rejected by the power of the Ring of Magic.
"So he created the Bugs?"
"The Bugs were probably created by him unintentionally," Dome speculated. "And I suspect he must be dead by now, with his death potentially related to your spoils of war."
"Melulan?" Lind looked at the cocooned chains.
"Melulan?" Dome was curious about the name, as it sounded vaguely familiar.
"Her name," Lind said. "I got it from her memories, the corpse of a queen that was sold."
"Oh, does the story sound a bit complicated?" Dome had already guessed the Queen must have been of noble origin, otherwise there was no need to ’make’ her.
"Black Marsh Kingdom," Lind said the name with disdain in his voice, as probably no one would look kindly on a kingdom that had suffered from dissent and betrayal even before the world’s end.
The King of the Black Marsh Kingdom was said to be jealous and envious of talent. His queen suspected he would kill the most famous Prince in the country, especially as the Prince lay poisoned and bedridden during that time.
The King imprisoned his distrusted Queen Melulan in a tall tower. If Lind hadn’t unexpectedly captured the Hive Queen in this place, he might have even thought that the queen was still combing her hair in the tower like a long-haired princess.
Queen Melulan ’accidentally’ died, and then her body was bought by a Wizard who studied Limb Attachment Magic, and made into the Queen, until she met Lind underground.
Several Grand Lords within the territory of the Black Marsh King openly declared their secession from the Kingdom. In the end, he could only rely on a despised Demi-human Lord, who had never thought of being loyal either.
There’s a not-so-funny joke: "It is said that the Black Marsh King had his beautiful boots stepped on by a lowly Slave. The guard asked how he should deal with it, and the Slave knelt trembling on the ground.
The Black Marsh King said: If it were my grandfather, he would have killed his entire family and then displayed his head on a spear; if it were my father, he would have flayed his skin. But since he called me King, I choose to forgive him and even bestow him with a knighthood.
In the Black Marsh Kingdom, swearing loyalty to the King could make you a knight."
The Rand Kingdom, even in its heyday, never thought of invading the Black Marsh Kingdom, partly due to its unbearably damp climate, but mainly to reap the benefits like a fisherman, as the lords unanimously believed the Black Marsh King wouldn’t last long. Yet, he proved more enduring than expected.
Enduring and enduring, the apocalypse had come.
Dome listened to this "secret" with little enthusiasm; the internal power struggles of the royal family held no attraction for him.
"There are many teleportation magic circles here, from different places," Dome continued, "If Her Majesty the Queen comes from the Black Marsh Kingdom, I believe the teleportation circle should connect there."
"Are you saying others might come through too?"
"Yes, if someone accidentally comes into contact with the magic circle!" Dome nodded.
He then added, "You could destroy the magic circles."
"No," Lind shook his head.
Being able to obtain the locations of different places, crossing infinite distances, there was no need to do that.
Dome had only mentioned it in passing, and he likewise didn’t want Lind to destroy the teleportation magic circles.
"What else?"
"Cyclops. I’ve only seen them in books, and I suggest destroying them."
After discussing, the two recorded the magic circles, and then moved a piece of one to render it inoperative.
In the future, they might be able to use it again, for instance, one day they might be able to activate a magic circle in reverse and perhaps take the offensive.
Of course, the temporarily disabled magic circles didn’t include the one from the Black Marsh Kingdom, in the hope that something would continue to be sent through.
"You surely have more good news," Lind said, looking at Dome.
Dome revealed a smile, the purest smile after acquiring knowledge.
"As you said," he shifted the lengthy scroll, "I have acquired partial information on limb attachment magic, very interesting, if you wish to have your collection move again."
Lind looked towards Queen Melulan, wrapped in cocooned chains: "No, she is fine as she is."
He did not lack for a minion.
Melulan was still indispensable in the research on bugs and magic signals, but afterwards, he should kindly send her to her death.
"Then you will certainly be interested in what comes next," Dome said, "The breeding method of the hive is fascinating. Do you remember the Blood Lamb?"
"You mean?" Lind straightened up, this being the first time he had shown interest in what Dome had harvested.
Dome said, "I tried using a different method of breeding, limb attachment is very resistant to magic bloodlines, but I hypothesized, what if the route through the magic potion is replaced with Calamity?"
Manually breeding Calamity.
A Heart of Calamity breeding farm.
It also meant he could continuously harvest the Hearts of Calamity, and with his own help, Soldiers could advance to become Great Knights with 100% certainty.
Mass production of Great Knights!
"Did you succeed?"
"The little guy will hatch very soon! You will surely want to see its birth with your own eyes."
