THE BILLIONAIRE'S VENGEFUL WIFE RETURNS
Chapter 96: LAWS OF THE HAMILTON’S 1

Chapter 96: LAWS OF THE HAMILTON’S 1

Charlotte Hamilton sat in her grand study, the soft glow of the afternoon sun filtering through the floor-to-ceiling windows. Her sharp eyes scanned the files spread across her desk, her expression calm yet calculating. She was not a woman to be disturbed lightly, but the urgency in Elisa’s voice as she entered the room made her pause.

"Mrs. Hamilton, you need to see this," Elisa said briskly, placing a tablet on the desk before her. The screen lit up with a video, and Charlotte leaned back in her chair, her thin lips curling into a faint smile.

The video showed Alanis, her ever-proud grandson, kneeling in public, apologizing to Harlow. The sight was equal parts amusing and baffling.

"What is this?" she murmured, her tone laced with curiosity.

"What was Alanis thinking?"

Charlotte chuckled, a low, almost ominous sound. She would never guess her cold son could be this romantic. Kneeling for his wife in public is beyond romantic.

Elisa stared at her boss, wondering why the woman was suddenly laughing. Whatever Alanis had done was not funny, he had not only embarrassed himself but the entire Hamilton family. The news circling the Blackwoods and Hamilton’s weren’t good. Alanis had only added more fuel to the burning furnace.

"Where is he now, Elisa?" she asked, her voice calm but commanding.

"He’s in his villa, ma’am," Elisa replied. "But I don’t think he’ll be there for long."

Charlotte raised a brow, intrigued. "And why is that? He has nowhere else to run at the moment."

Elisa hesitated for a moment before responding. "Because Madam Garth, Lia, and George have already paid him a visit. And Miss Blackwood just arrived as well."

At the mention of "Miss Blackwood," Charlotte’s smile deepened. "Ah, Claudia. Of course. This is going to be... interesting."

Her grandson had always been a stubborn one, prone to dramatic gestures that often backfired. But this? Kneeling for a woman? It was unlike him, unless, there was more to the story.

"Well then," she said after a moment, standing with an elegance that defied her years. "Take me to see my grandson. It’s time I welcomed him back properly." She smiled.

Elisa nodded and stepped forward, steadying her. Charlotte didn’t need the help, she was still strong despite her age, but she allowed it, knowing it was expected of someone in her position.

In her past life, her sudden illness couldn’t help her perform her duties, but in this life, even if old, she was healthy and strong enough to make decisions. She will never let Garth and her children make wrong decisions and destroy their family again.

ALANIS VILLA,

"How could you do that big brother?" Lia asked staring at her brother. Her wide, disbelieving eyes bore into Alanis, who sat calmly on the sofa, his expression unreadable.

She had expected more from him, not stooping so low to apologize to Harlow. That rude girl.

Alanis didn’t respond immediately. He simply leaned back, his fingers steepled as he watched her pace the room.

Lia huffed, her frustration spilling over. "You even knelt for her? Her? That rude, insufferable girl?"

She has hated Harlow since she saw her and ways preferred Claudia to her. Harlow is just some used bitch who thinks so highly of herself.

Her voice rose with every word, her anger bubbling into something almost primal. Alanis remained silent, his calm demeanor only fueling her outrage.

"I thought you had standards!" she snapped, throwing her arms in the air. "I thought you were better than this, Alanis. How could you stoop so low for someone like *her*?"

Lia stopped pacing and faced him, her fists clenched at her sides. "Harlow is nothing but a used bitch who thinks too highly of herself. She’s trash. Always has been, and always will be. You should know that better than anyone!"

Her words hung in the air, venomous and sharp, but Alanis still didn’t flinch. His silence was unnerving, his steady gaze making her feel as though she were the one losing control. And Lia hated feeling this way.

"Claudia is ten times the woman Harlow will ever be. She’s elegant, loyal, and smart. Everyone knows Claudia’s the one who belongs by your side. Not Harlow."

Alanis finally moved, his jaw tightening as he shifted his gaze to meet hers directly. His voice, low and measured, cut through her rant like a blade.

"I don’t recall asking for your opinion on my decisions, Lia," he smiled, looking nothing more than the devil ready to deal with her. "You’re entitled to your feelings about Harlow, but don’t presume to speak about her that way in front of me again."

Lia’s mouth fell open, her disbelief morphing into anger. "I... I’m just trying to help you, big brother! To remind you who you are. The big brother I know wouldn’t grovel to anyone, especially not some..."

"Enough." Alanis’s voice hardened, cutting her off mid-sentence. He stood, towering over her with a presence that instantly silenced the room.

"You don’t know what you’re talking about," he said coldly. "You never have."

Lia took a step back, stunned by his tone. When Claudia had told her her brother had changed, she had thought it was a joke. She should have known before now. The Alanis she knows will never sit and watch his wife humiliate them.

Alanis leaned closer, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. "Harlow is worth more than every snide remark you’ve ever made about her. And if you have a problem with that, then maybe you should look at yourself before judging her."

Lia’s face flushed with anger, her eyes burning with unshed tears as she stared at her big brother. He had insulted her all because of that girl. That useless girl who isn’t worth a thing.

"D... Do you love her brother Alanis?" She managed to ask the question she dreaded the most. Alanis stared at his step-sister with indifference, he opened his mouth to speak but was interrupted by the people who walked in.

"Is that the reason you broke the engagement with Claudia, Alanis? To humiliate yourself and our family to the public?" Garth asked, her anger and resentment palpable.
