Chapter 97: LAWS OF THE HAMILTON’S 2

"Mother, please don’t be so harsh on him. Lanis is only doing it to make me jealous. He didn’t mean to harm you or anyone." Claudia said sweetly. Those dark eyes turned to look at her. The warmth they once held for her was long gone and now replaced by a cold distant gaze.

It almost felt as if the man in the room, wasn’t the same person she had known all these years.

Neither she nor anyone in the room understood why Alanis just changed his heart against Claudia all of a sudden. It’s not possible to just call out of love for someone unless you’re being manipulated.

But how can Alanis be manipulated? There has to be an explanation for this.

"Alanis," Claudia called with tear-filled eyes as she walked close to him. She wanted to confirm something. She needed to understand something.

Did Alanis not love her anymore?

Was he now into Harlow?

"What is it you don’t like about me anymore, is it my hair?" Claudia asked desperately.

"I... I’ll change it for you." She said. "Do you not like my clothes?

"Have some shame child." Grandma Hamilton’s voice came from. Behind and everyone turned to look at her.

"What is this mentally sick woman doing here now." Lia couldn’t hold her tongue and Grandma Hamilton smiled.

"You don’t speak to her that way." Alanis’s tone was with a warning.

"What, it’s not like she’s going to remember in the next minute anyway." She rolled her eyes.

Alanis couldn’t believe how stupid he was to let this woman deceive him and make him destroy his family in his past life. Her lies and schemes had destroyed everything he owned. And what amused him was that he was about to make the same mistake again. Marrying the woman who murdered his son and caused the death of his wife.

Claudia had manipulated him into thinking Harlow was the problem. She even brought evidence proving her lies. How could he have known she was lying?

He couldn’t also believe that the woman standing before him had been the one to kill him in the end. The woman he thought was his mother.

She gave everything he worked so hard for to George like she had always wanted. That was the reason he let Harlow punish them the day he awoke. But her punishment wasn’t enough for him.

Now he knows his stepmother’s intentions, he would make sure she pays for maltreating his wife and child.

"How can you still defend him after everything he’s done to you Claudia?" Garth asked her chosen daughter-in-law.

"It’s nothing, mother. Alanis and I have come a long way to fight now." Claudia smiled so innocently. "You promised to never stop loving me no matter what remember? It’s time for you to keep that promise. I don’t know you as a man who goes back on his words." She said sweetly.

It is the same trick she had used against him in her past life. The same games she played.

"How sweet of you. Brother, you should consider Claudia as your wife. I don’t know why you’re chasing that arrogant girl anyway." George interjected. He’ll always stand by Claudia no matter what.

"Why would I remarry when I already have a wife." Alanis cold voice echoed, this made Garth frown. "You all need to learn to love and respect my wife."

"First you broke your engagement with Claudia and humiliated her before everyone that day." Garth started.

"You ran away for a week without an explanation on why you had treated her that way. Then you humiliate her further by kneeling to that ingrate, this morning and now you’re proclaiming another woman your wife before your fiance?" Garth said furiously.

"What is it about me you don’t like Lanis. Is it my looks? I’ll change it for you." Claudia was desperate, she couldn’t let Harlow win over her.

Never!!!

"I’m willing to do anything to be yours."

"Have some shame child. You can’t be this desperate over a married man, what would people say if they get to find out?" Charlotte Hamilton walked in with Elisa behind her. The Hamilton family were shocked to see the old woman walking alone without any support.

Was her health improving?

"What is this scallywag doing here?" Lia couldn’t hold her tongue.

"Lia, watch your mouth, brother Alanis." George mouthed his warning to his sister who rolled her eyes with a frown.

"Why should I do that, it’s not like she would remember anything I say after now. She’s as useless as a new born baby." Charlotte smiled.

"The Hamilton family have certain rules, and I think I’ve let go of some of the rules that is why you have become a menace, Lia." Grandma Hamilton sighed as she stepped further into the room.

"One of the rules is respecting the one with the crest." She said. "And I am the one with the crest." The old scheming woman smiled.

"W... What is she talking about?" Lia stuttered.

"Don’t tell me you haven’t told your children about the rules yet Garth?" Garth’s lips twitched.

Charlotte Hamilton wasn’t just a weak old lady as she made herself to be. She’s Hamilton’s wealth herself. Everything the Hamiltons were, and everything they would ever be, rested in her hands.

She calls the shot to every decision in and out of the family. She had been a fearless figure in the past. A bold and fearless partner to James Hamilton, the man whose name carried weight across the business world.

Alanis’s grandfather.

When James passed, he had willed everything he owned to his dear wife, putting her in charge since their son was not of age. But Charlotte never once gave them to her son. Maybe because she never saw him fit for it. Or because of the evil wife he has married.

Garth knows Alanis is her favorite and the only ticket to their family’s wealth. That is why she had gotten closer to her stepson since a child. Charlotte could see through her deceitful ways.

"I... I didn’t have the time to teach them our rules since they weren’t in use." Garth said softly.

"No wonder my grandchildren have grown to be so uncouth and useless."

"Grandma..."

"Silence!! She raised her hands to stop George from speaking. These people weren’t humans, they were despicable monsters. Evil and cunning.

They had mercilessly killed her grandson and daughter-in-law.

They had killed her happiness and joy.

She would never forgive them for what they did to them.

"For every action and disrespect, there’s always a penalty." Garth raised her head to look at the old woman now seated before them.

When did Charlotte Hamilton become so strong?

"Don’t tell me you want to punish Lia mother?" Garth spoke out for her daughter.

"That is in fact what I am about to do." Charlotte smiled.

"Guards!!! She called and they appeared immediately. It was almost like she had this already planned out. As if she knew Lia or George would try to go against her.

"For insulting me, you will...
