THE BILLIONAIRE'S VENGEFUL WIFE RETURNS -
Chapter 94: FAILED MISSION
Chapter 94: FAILED MISSION
Now standing in Harlow’s apartment was Claudia, clad in a black long dress fitting her slim figure, she moved around the now scattered apartment, with broken objects and a bloodied floor as she searched for something. All she wanted was a little evidence she could hold on.
Something to show her father as proof of Harlow being a used girl. If Alanis had not involved himself last night, her plans would have worked perfectly. She would have soiled Harlow’s name, ruined her, till she’s forced out of the city. But she couldn’t do that anymore.
Claudia’s lips tightened into a thin line as she scoured the apartment, her patience wearing thin. Then her gaze landed on something. The camera.
"Yes," she hissed, rushing to pick it up. A triumphant smirk curved her lips, but it vanished almost instantly when she realized the damage.
The camera was soaked in water, its delicate parts destroyed beyond repair. And worse, the tape was gone.
Claudia clenched her teeth, fury bubbling inside her. She tightened her grip on the broken device before throwing it against the wall, where it shattered into useless pieces. Harlow had managed to slip through her fingers yet again, but Claudia wouldn’t let this go.
"Oh, you’ll pay for this, Harlow," she muttered under her breath, her voice cold and venomous.
This wasn’t over. If anything, it was just the beginning. Claudia would find another way. She always did. Harlow would never reclaim her place by Alanis’s side, not if Claudia had anything to say about it.
Straightening her dress and brushing imaginary dust from her hands, she turned to leave. But just as she reached the door, her phone beeped.
She frowned and pulled it out, glancing at the notification. Her heart stopped for a moment when she saw the video attached to the message.
Her jaw clenched as she opened it.
There, on the screen, was Alanis Hamilton, the ever-proud, unyielding Alanis, kneeling in public. Not just kneeling, but to Harlow.
To Harlow?
Her stomach churned as she replayed the video over and over again to be sure this wasn’t just some editing. There’s no way this is true. Alanis hates Harlow, there’s no way he would publicly apologize to her. But the video looked real because it’s a livestream video. Her nails dug into her palm as she watched it further.
This wasn’t just damage control for Harlow’s reputation. This was Alanis choosing her. Protecting her once again.
Claudia’s lips curled into a snarl, her hand trembling as she gripped the phone. She stormed out of Harlow’s broken apartment, got into her car, and drove off. Even if Alanis had humiliated himself before her stupid sister, at least now she has his location.
When Harlow and Andrew arrived in the apartment, they were both greeted by the most devastating scene ever. Harlow couldn’t believe those men had ruined her apartment. They have turned her apartment upside down. Her tables and chairs were shattered, and broken bottles splattered everywhere. There was too much blood spilled.
And just then she remembered Alanis, he had been the one to save her from those men and even if she threw herself at him, he fought not to do anything to her. But she wasn’t moved by his kindness. Showing her little kindness doesn’t mean she would let the killing of her children slide.
If he hadn’t been such a worthless father, Alex would still be alive.
Harlow rushed into the room to find Ava because she recalled one of the thugs taking her maid into one of the rooms. But when she got there, she was greeted by an empty bed. Ava was gone. Harlow was visibly shaken.
She moved around her apartment looking for Ava but she couldn’t find her maid anywhere. She arrived back in her living room, her face filled with dread. "I can’t find Ava." Harlow bellowed.
As far as Andrew could remember, Ava was like a second mother to Harlow, not finding her maid felt like a death sentence to Harlow. He could see how worried she looked.
"What really happened last night Harlow," Andrew asked looking around, he had been shocked when he arrived too. This place looked different from the last time he had visited.
"One moment I and Ava were celebrating my success and the next she said she wanted to get us drinks to celebrate. I accepted, but she took so long.." Harlow took a deep breath as she stared at Andrew, tears threatening to fall from her eyes.
She was traumatized. She couldn’t believe she got framed by her sister last night. Harlow’s body shook with fear and Andrew was there to lend her a hand.
"W... When I went to look for her." She continued. "Four men held her and before I could react..." The last thing she wanted was to look weak and vulnerable, but here she is. She was crying like a child before Andrew. Alanis had seen her in the worst state last night.
"Mr Hamilton had arrived in time to help. He took me away but I have no idea where Ava is." She concluded.
"I should call the cops. Some investigation will be made and we’ll find her in no time." Andrew said but Harlow held his hands.
"There’s no need. Alanis might have her. I should ask him." Andrew frowned.
"Don’t bother. I’ll ask him myself. I don’t want you getting involved with that man or his family again." Andrew stated. His eyes moved around the small apartment and then he said, "You can’t stay here anymore. Even if you insist I won’t let you." He knew Harlow was a stubborn woman and would only do what was in her mind. But to his surprise, she didn’t decline his offer or argue.
"I have nowhere to go."
"You can live with me for now, till you get a new place." Harlow nodded at his words. This was better than living in a place that had no door.
"I just need to get a few things from my room." She stated.
