At exactly 5:00 PM, a sleek black car pulled up to the entrance of the villa. Harlow stepped out, her mind bracing for Alanis’s scolding about hurting his mother again.
With her purse barely hanging on her fingers, she made her way inside. As soon as she stepped into the villa, a sweet, savory aroma greeted her, making her mouth water.
Drawn by the smell, she followed it to the dining room. Alanis was already seated at the large table, smiling as she entered. The table was filled with an array of dishes, more than she had seen in a long time. Her stomach growled just looking at the feast before her.
"Welcome back, my little villain," Alanis’s deep voice broke through her thoughts. She glanced at him but ignored his words. Her irritation was forgotten, replaced by the overwhelming urge to dig into the food.
Alanis watched her with quiet amusement as she sat down. She didn’t bother with a response, instead, she dove straight into the meal. He couldn’t help but smile. She must be starving to be eating this much. He thought.
He started eating too, savoring the taste of the delicious meal. He was getting better at preparing meals like this, and he was very proud of himself.
"Did you cook this yourself?" Harlow asked staring at the apron still on his body.
"I did.’ Alanis said proudly.
"Do you like it?" He watched her shake her head. Even if the meal was the most tasty meal she’s had in a long time, Harlow still shook her head.
"It’s not that great." She responded flatly, causing the man across from her to smile.
"Your plate doesn’t agree with you," Alanis said calmly.
"I was thinking we could go shopping for the Gala, I’m sure you have nothing to wear." He suggested. Harlow knew Alanis was right, she had nothing to wear for the Gala, but she would rather wear rags than accept anything from this man.
"I can shop myself, you have nothing to worry about." She cut him off. Alanis nodded and didn’t pester her more.
After a few moments of silence, "You’re supposed to be angry at me for hurting your mother and sister." Harlow said.
"You had a reason to. If only they would listen and stop annoying you." Her eyes were slightly wide as she watched him. Was this man really serious?
She had literally embarrassed his sister, the images of naked Lia were all over the night as a few people mocked her while others wondered if she was mentally deranged.
Lia’s humiliation was more than the one they gave her in the past. If only she could end it all by killing her too.
"You’re not angry at me?" She asked waiting for the truth. There’s no way Alanis was just letting this slide.
This would not be the first time he was siding her over his family. The Alanis of her past will never side with her.
Harlow stared at him longer than usual, her mind conflicted as she watched him. Who the hell is this man?
Why is he always on her side? Why does he protect her so much?
"Until your revenge on us all is done, I have nothing to be angry about." He said calmly meeting her green eyes.
"Revenge?" She asked.
"For what we did to you in your past life. You can get your revenge on me too, I deserve it. It’s not sweet to lose a child, children are precious beings and should not be brought to the world for that." Her moistened as she stared at him, the pain of the past resurfacing.
Claudia had killed Alex. It was all Claudia’s doing.
Alanis had regretted his past mistakes every day. Every day he wished he hadn’t been so foolish, but he would not let his past mistakes stop him from changing them in this life.
He was here to make amends and that he shall do.
"What exactly did I do in the past? Tell me so that I can punish myself for it."
"Punishing yourself will not bring Alex back," Harlow yelled.
"But it’ll give you the satisfaction you need. It’ll make you a little happy. We can always have Alex right now, right here and you know it" He said like the devil speaking right into her heart, trying to convince her to follow the wrong part even if she knew it was wrong.
"There’s a reason you’re reliving this life, Harlow." She stared at him, tears streaming down her face and Alanis longed to wipe them off. He longed to ease her pain.
"I love you, Harlow." He confessed. He didn’t know how to confess this to her in the past, but right now, he was doing it.
He would shout it to the whole world, he would let everyone know Harlow Blackwood is Alanis’s woman. She’s the one he loves, the one he wants to be with.
"I don’t care about your love." She barked. She didn’t need the love any more. He never loved her when he needed it, he never came home when she wanted him.
"What do I do to make you forgive me? What do I do to change everything?" Alanis asked.
"Lika I said before, there’s nothing you can do." Harlow got up. For some reason, she didn’t want to be around him anymore. She hated him, he could die for all she cared and she still would not forgive him.
Alanis doesn’t deserve a bit of her love and affection.
Alanis watched his wife leave the dining room. After a moment of silence, he removed his apron, brought down his sleeve, and stepped out of the Villa.
Charlotte was approaching the Villa when she saw her grandson step out of the Villa. Even though she had refused to admit Harlow reincarnating, the truth was right in front of her.
"Grandson," Charlotte called when she saw him step out.
"What are you doing out here at this time?" Alanis asked but Charlotte ignored his question. She was not in the mood for that. All she wanted was a clue to be sure this was her Harlow.
"Where’s your wife?" Charlotte asked.
"She’s not in the right state of mind right now. She won’t talk to you." Alanis said frustratedly.
"I know this may sound stupid grandson, but I want you to listen to me. I have relived this life before and I think your wife has." Alanis froze. He had been right, this woman before him, was his grandmother from the past.
