Harlow followed the nurse quietly through the halls till arrived before Claudia’s ward. The nurse stretched her hands to reach the doorknob, but before she could, the door opened swiftly to Frank and Elisa coming out of the room.

Elisa frowned the moment she saw her stepdaughter. "You can leave now nurse." She said and the nurse bowed before leaving.

"How is she, I hurried the moment you called." Harlow licked her lips as she spoke. Even if she knew everything Claudia was doing was to gain Alanis’s attention she still had to come to confront her herself.

"I can see that," Elisa said her eyes moving from Harlow’s face down to her feet and then back up again. She stared at her stepdaughter like she was the most disgusting thing in the world. "You were supposed to be here long before now to take good care of your sister," Elisa said.

"I’m married now, Claudia is your responsibility." Came Harlow’s words. She didn’t know how many times she would have to tell these people she was no longer the Harlow they knew and played with before.

"Married." Elisa spat. "You call that marriage? Don’t forget the only reason you’re able to be with Alanis Hamilton was because your sister decided to let go." Harlow almost laughed at her stepmother’s words.

Of course, that’s the reason. Like Claudia didn’t also try to engage Alanis and got dumped.

"You should take good care of your sister. You owe her a lot." Elisa added.

"I don’t owe Claudia anything. I’m not your slave, if you need someone to care for your daughter, you hire a maid." Harlow said.

"Just because you’re now married to Alanis Hamilton doesn’t mean you can talk back at us. The Hamiltons are nothing compared to the blackwoods, do not be on my black list Harlow." Elisa warned and stepped back into the room.

So did Frank who hasn’t said a word to his youngest daughter.

"Claudia," Elisa called as she stepped in.

"Mother." Claudia’s cracked voice rang as she called to her mother. She opened her eyes slowly to look at her mother. Claudia looked so pale and weak that one couldn’t tell if she was actually faking her illness or if it was real.

Her whole body was covered with bandages, including her head. And there were blood marks on them.

"Harlow’s here to see you," Elisa announced and Claudia turned to Harlow and frowned. She hated to see her sister, but she still needed a little favor from her. That favor is the reason she had faked her illness in the first place.

"Harlow," Claudia called stretching her hands towards her sister. But Harlow didn’t move from where she stood. She only stared at Claudia from the sidelines.

"Why did you want to see me?" Harlow asked without beating around the bush.

"I... I heard you’re finally releasing the screenplay you have been writing for months." Harlow frowned, she knew where this was going. She should have known when the producers suggested to Claudia that she had something to do with it.

"I’ve known about it for quite some time now and I’ve been waiting for an audition. Do you know I’ve been rehearsing a lot for it, Harlow? I really wanted to be a part of my sister’s job, but now..." Claudia paused as she cried.

"T... thanks to you and Alanis I was rushed in here quickly, else I would have died." She looked so pitiful right now as if she could die at any moment.

"The doctor said my lungs were affected and that I would need surgery." Claudia continued.

"So what do you want from me?" Harlow asked. It was clear Claudia’s sympathy was no longer walking on her anymore.

"I... I want the lead role in the movie Harlow. I want to be the lead actress for your movie. It’s unfortunate that I’ve been involved in an accident and I can no longer audition, but I know I would have nailed it if I had the chance to." Claudia said.

"You’re making a movie Harlow?" Frank was too stunned. For the first time in a while, he felt so proud of his daughter. He had no idea she was a scriptwriter. This was really a good thing. At least if Claudia and Harlow get to work on the project together, they could be omw close.

Elisa rolled her eyes. "Being a scriptwriter is nothing, actresses earn better than them," Elisa said. She would never admit Harlow was important, she always saw her stepdaughter as useless.

Frank ignored Elisa’s words, but his younger daughter’s next word shocked him, "I’m sorry Claudia, but for the lead role, you would need to audition to get it." Harlow said.

"How can you be this heartless Harlow?" Elisa chimed in.

"Claudia is your sister. This is the first time she’s asking you for one thing and you can’t give it to her? Don’t forget she let you marry Alanis." Harlow has no idea why her mother kept bringing up Alanis like he was some trophy.

"What have I done wrong?" Harlow asked her stepmother calmly.

"It is my movie and I can decide who I want in the movie. That doesn’t mean I’m heartless." She added. Gone are the days she would let this person’s guilt trip her. Not now, not anymore.

"Nonsense." Frank barked hitting his stick on the floor. "You will give your sister that role else that movie will never be released." He declared and Claudia laughed silently. She always got what she wanted whenever she wanted. All she has to do is play pitiful and everything will be hers.

She knew Harlow would never escape giving her that role once she plays sick. If she does not get the lead role, then Harlow will never release that movie. There’s no one in the country and beyond that can match up to Frank, not even Alanis Hamilton.

To Frank Blackwood, Alanis is only a little child he can easily destroy.

"You have no right to do that," Harlow said.

"Then watch me ruin you over and over again like I always do. You have two options." Frank said. "Give your sister the role, or don’t produce the movie at all." Harlow frowned at his words. She has let her Father dog walk her for so long.

"If your daughter wants the role for my upcoming movie, she’ll have to audition like everyone else. I can’t let a dying woman act my movie." A slap was heard, the sound reverberated around the room and it was Elisa’s hands clashing against her stepdaughter’s face.

"How dare you wish that on your sister?" She yelled. "You deserve to die not my daughter. I swear to God Harlow, I’ll place you with your mother if anything happens to Claudia." Elisa threatened.

"Mother that’s enough, it’s not Harlow’s fault. She must hate me because Father loves me more than her. It’s all my fault." Claudia said softly.

"Nonsense! There’s no reason why I should love a heartless child. Your sister deserves nothing from me." Frank said to his daughter.

"Harlow, I know I’ve not been the best sister to you, please forgive me," Claudia said.

"Don’t apologize to her, she does not deserve it." Elisa cut in as always. "Listen here Harlow, if you don’t give Claudia the role, then count yourself out of the Blackwoods family for good," Elisa added.
