THE BILLIONAIRE'S VENGEFUL WIFE RETURNS
Chapter 132: HOSPITAL 1

Chapter 132: HOSPITAL 1

Seated before an oval-shaped mirror was Harlow. She stared at her reflection as her slender fingers picked a brush from the set of many brushes. Harlow touched it on the natural shade powder before applying it gently on her cheek.

Placing the brush back, she leaned closer, her lips curving into a faint smile. Her hair, brushed and styled into a perfect bun, was a small triumph for the morning. She opened the drawer, revealing a collection of glittering accessories. Her fingers hovered in midair as she considered her options. She had three places to go to today.

First, she would visit the hospital with Alanis, fulfilling her reluctant role as the ever-dutiful wife. His injury, despite its stubborn refusal to heal, had become an excuse for him to draw her closer.

Secondly, she needed to be at Shoot Pictures, to see her new crew members for the preparation of her movie. Thirdly, she wanted to see Richard concerning the stolen jewel, to at least know what other ideas her father and stolen from her.

She needed the jewels for the Gala. According to Charlotte, the gala was in a week. Which meant, that both she and Alanis had just a week to prepare for the Gala.

She was used to social gatherings and events with the upper class, and Harlow knew since the event was in her and Alanis’s honor, she would be the talk of the day. Those who were there to celebrate with her would be there, the ones who were in attendance to judge her would also be there.

It’s not like she cared what people thought about her.

"Are you done?" Alanis’s voice pulled her from her thoughts. She turned to see him standing in the doorway, already dressed in his signature black shirt and trousers. He adjusted his wristwatch with an air of casual elegance before stepping further into the room.

She rose, slipping on her earrings. "Let me help you with that," Alanis offered, his hands brushing hers as he zipped up her dress. The gesture, surprisingly gentle, made her pause. If only he’d shown this tenderness when she’d truly needed it.

But it was too late. Her heart, once open and yearning, was now fortified with anger, resentment, and the scars of betrayal.

"Your father mentioned a meeting after the gala," Alanis said, draping her coat over her shoulders. His touch lingered, almost hesitant, before he pulled back.

"What do you think it’s about?" she asked, her voice indifferent.

"I don’t know," he admitted. "Grandma had told me this morning. The Blackwoods said it was something important."

He had indeed heard the news from Charlotte this morning. According to the older woman, a message was passed by the Blackwoods stating they wanted to announce something important after the marriage.

Harlow nodded, saying nothing more as they left the villa.

They arrived at the hospital in no time and stepped in. Since she already made an appointment with the doctor, they didn’t have to wait in the reception. Harlow looked around and smiled. The Hamilton’s had the highest shares of the hospital, which means it belonged to them.

She recalled having come here in the past. The same place she had lost her son. The same place she got killed and by the same doctor talking to them now.

"Welcome Mr Hamilton. Madam." He greeted with a bow.

"Thank you," Harlow responded and found her way to her seat. So did the man beside her.

"You never visit the hospital, and today I got a call." The doctor joked but neither of the people seated across from him smiled. Alanis stared at the man with anger, he was the same person who had connived with Claudia to lie about Alex’s illness whenever he asked.

A Doctor who could lie and hurt his child has no reason to remain a doctor.

Alanis felt stupid sitting before him. Why would he even listen to the word of Claudia in the first place and not his wife?

Harlow stared at the doctor with equal hate too. She felt like strangling him right now, but for what reason? No one would believe her if she said he killed her son and ended her life too. In this life, she doesn’t have a son and doesn’t think she would ever have one. She would never let herself bring any child into this world just to hurt them.

"Please tell me your problem." The doctor said calmly.

"I have hickeys on my body and I need treatment for it." Alanis opened his buttons one after another. He was too upset to tease his wife like he had planned.

"We need treatment for it," Harlow said. She was also too mad to be embarrassed about anything. The doctor adjusted on his seat, cracking his throat and adjusting his ties as he tried to avoid both people’s cold gaze on him. He had no idea why they both stared at him like they wanted to kill him.

"Hickeys are injuries that go on their own, they don’t need treatment to heal." He said.

"Is that what you tell your other patients? When they complain you don’t treat them. Do you enjoy killing people, doctor?" Harlow asked shocking the man seated next to her.

Alanis wondered if his wife was also reliving this life too. Is this his Harlow? First, she talked about Alex even if he wasn’t in existence and now she also hated the doctor.

He shook his head and waved the thought as quickly as it came. Just as he had thought a thousand and one times already, maybe this current Harlow is somehow able to access the pain of his past. Maybe they’re linked in a way. It’s impossible for this woman to be his wife. Because if she is...

"I’m sorry Miss Hamilton, but I have no idea what you’re talking about. I have never killed anyone in all of my career."

"And if the need comes. If you’re offered money... Millions and billions...?" Harlow blinked to stop tears from falling down her eyes. She was still so hurt by everything they had done to her. She didn’t deserve any of it.

The doctor cleared his throat, breaking the tense silence. "I would never do such Mrs Hamilton, that’s how much I love my profession. If it’ll ease your discomfort, I’ll prescribe a cream. But hickeys are not life-threatening." Both people didn’t say a word to him.

Harlow knew individuals like him. She had heard everything that happened that night. She wasn’t going to die even if they did everything to kill her. She had a slim chance of survival, but this stupid man stole that away. He stole her life.
