THE BILLIONAIRE'S VENGEFUL WIFE RETURNS -
Chapter 114: FRIENDS REUNION
Chapter 114: FRIENDS REUNION
"Where are you now Harlow? I couldn’t reach you because father locked me up for weeks and seized everything I own after your father called." Harlow frowned. She knew it was the only reason Layla had ghosted her. Her bestie can never just stop talking to her, it was the reason Harlow hadn’t bothered disturbing her.
She felt so sorry for Layla, it had been her fault that she had gone through everything she went through. If she hadn’t forced her best friend to post those things about her family, they would never have gotten into any trouble with her father.
"I’m sorry for the trouble I caused you Lay. I should have never let you publish that article." Harlow apologized immediately. She was truly sorry to have caused her friend so much pain in the process of finding her happiness.
"It’s nothing Harl. The good thing is that we’re back and stronger." Harlow smiled. She stared at the sleeping Ava one more time before stepping out of the room.
"Have you seen the news?" Lay asked.
"I haven’t why?" For some reason, Harlow’s heart skipped for the first time since she awakened. Was it about her father?
Have they killed him already? Even if Frank had his bad side, his death wasn’t until later.
She hadn’t seen any news about Frank Blackwood, not that she had been online herself. Harlow hoped nothing had happened to him. She had warned him about his morning teas.
"Your ex-husband is trending all over the news. Alanis Hamilton has stepped down from being the president of the Hamiltons cooperation." Layla said she had been shocked herself. Just when he was taking the company to a new height he had to step down.
The news shook the entire Halkhalls as everyone wondered why he had stepped down and who would be the new president.
Harlow wasn’t surprised at all. It would be even more shocking if people found out she’s the new president of Hamilton’s Corp. She smiled. This is only the beginning of her revenge on the Hamiltons.
"I know," Harlow said calmly.
"Woah, how did you know so quickly, I thought you didn’t love that man anymore?" Layla teased.
"I’m back with Alanis Lay. Our remarriage ball is coming up soon, I’ll be sure to send you an invitation." She confessed quickly. Her words came with rigorous silence. And after a while, "How could you play with me like that Harl? I knew you still loved him, there’s no way you would have fallen out of love with him all of a sudden." Layla said.
"I’m glad you’re back to your senses Harlow, but promise me one thing. Make sure you don’t forget who you are because of love. I wish you a blessed marriage." Harlow smiled. In her past life, these were Layla’s exact words when the two wanted to part ways. Harlow had no idea when a teardrop rolled down her face.
She walked through the grand stairs quietly, her hands on the golden ray.
Layla was a little upset Harlow had deceived her into thinking she was no longer in love with Alanis. But Harlow’s next word left her dumbstruck.
"I don’t love him Lay. I hate him even. Our marriage, It’s a marriage of convenience." Harlow said calmly. She couldn’t tell her friend that she had relived this life and had ended up with a bad fate.
A fate that killed her and her children. She thought things would be different but it wasn’t. She was only here to take revenge and if she dies in the end, so be it.
"Harl, just know I love and support you in whatever decision you’re making. I hope you know what you’re doing?"
"You don’t have to worry Lay." Harlow smiled. "A lot has happened since you left and I can’t wait to share everything with you." Harlow opened her room door and stepped inside. She walked calmly towards her bed and sat on it.
Last night was the last night she would be sleeping in here. Her bedroom in her past life. The safe space she cried and laughed. This place contained her happy and sad memories.
"Pick a day, let’s meet." Harlow was silent for a moment then she said.
"Tomorrow, I have a meeting to attend, let’s attend it together."
"Fine by me," Lay answered. She could hear them calling Layla from the background, "Harl, we’ll talk tomorrow then, I have to go " she hung up.
For the rest of the day, Harlow stayed in her room resting. She didn’t leave the room till she heard a car honk. When she peeped through her balcony, it was Alanis’s car. He had returned.
In the past, she would always sit on her balcony or lounge waiting for his return.
She was about to go back in when she saw Garth, Jane, and another maid rushing towards his car, "Son, Alanis." The woman called. The car suddenly stopped and Alanis stepped out of the car.
"Why did you bring that witch back into this family?" She started. "Look at what she did to me, look at what she did to your mother." She showed him her face.
"You brought that witch in to kill your mother, how could you?" She cried more, her loud voice echoing through the silence of the yard. As if noticing Harlow’s presence, both Garth and Alanis stared at the girl.
The fading sun cast a light glow on her face and she looked even more beautiful than ever. Her fiery red hair cascaded down to her back. Garth stared at the girl with fury, her face had even turned red in anger.
The humiliation still burned through her. Harlow had not just humiliated her once, but twice now since she arrived. It’s the reason she doesn’t like her. This was not what Elisa had told her, the girl doesn’t seem like anything you can control.
She suddenly smirked, today, Harlow will feel the wrath of Alanis. Today, she will be kicked out of their Villa for good. She would teach her to never disrespect her ever again.
She had expected to see Harlow panic, but rather than that, a sweet smile curved her delicate lips. A smile that made Alanis’s heart flutter. This woman just knows how to control his heart in ways he can not explain.
