THE BILLIONAIRE'S VENGEFUL WIFE RETURNS -
Chapter 102: PUNISHMENT FOR HARLOW
Chapter 102: PUNISHMENT FOR HARLOW
Andrew stood there in the crowd watching how everything turned from bad to worse. Even if Harlow was strong, she couldn’t take down Claudia and her mother alone. It was her against her entire family, including her father.
"No amount of apology can make up for the humiliation your sister has caused your family today Claudia. I know you love her, but I go with Elisa. She should be punished for it." He was still thinking of a way of saving Harlow out of the mess she’d created when the woman spoke.
The stupid woman has just made everything worse than before. Andrew rolled his eyes. He took a glass of wine from the waiter and gulped all of it at once. Then he started walking out of the crowd to the center where everything happened.
I don’t think so," Andrew’s voice cut through the noise like a blade. Heads turned to him, the murmurs growing louder as the crowd began to whisper about the mysterious man stepping in. "I think Harlow deserves an apology for everything you’ve done to her."
Gasps rippled through the room. People began to scrutinize Andrew, some finding his face familiar. Claudia’s eyes narrowed as recognition dawned.
She has no idea when Andrew became an important figure in the society. He wasn’t only just good-looking, he had successfully carried his family’s business over the years, uplifting their family’s wealth.
Only Andrew knew why he did that.
When Harlow rejected him in high school, he thought she did so because his family was nothing compared to hers which is why she had worked ten times more to uplift his family and at least be a better match for Harlow.
"And who are you to say that?" The woman asked eyeing him for going against her words.
"I’m Andrew Phillipsburg." He said calmly and gasps filled the lounge. Oh everyone recognized Andrew Phillipsburg. The handsome man who had challenged Alanis Hamilton at the auction that day.
He didn’t only have the looks but was number 8 on the list of successful bachelors in the country. One of the men every mother wanted for their young daughter.
The Philipsburg son had not only helped his family, but he had also brought respect to their name again.
"How dare you tell me to apologize to this insolent girl?" Elisa turned to him filled with nothing but an unquenchable rage.
"He’s her new boyfriend mother. I saw Harlow with him last month." The women in there frowned at Harlow.
"I can’t believe she’s with this man and slapped her sister for marrying Alanis, what a whore." A woman there couldn’t hold her tongue. Harlow recognized her very well. She’s Elisa’s younger sister.
"Firstly," Andrew said. "You kicked your daughter out of her home and stripped her of all of her personal money because she had a fight with her sister?" Andrew asked. Are these people really as sensible as they claim?
"What are you trying to say?" Claudia was the one who asked this time.
"I come from a family of five. I have two sisters. They fight all the time, yet never, not once, has my mother thrown one out or stripped them of their dignity. Elisa, is this because Harlow isn’t your blood?" He let the question hang in the air as the murmurs grew louder, turning into hushed condemnation.
Elisa’s hands shook as she struggled to maintain her composure. The crowd was turning against her.
Who the hell is this young man trying to ruin her?
Who let him in here?
"For me, I’ll say the slap is not enough." Andrew continued.
"Just last week it was on the local news that your daughter was almost ganged raped by thugs and you did nothing." Andrew raised his voice a bit. He was still mad at himself for not taking her away before it happened. He could only imagine what those bastards would have done to his love.
"She was almost ganged raped because you sent her out of her protective home, the home you stole from her mother."
"Enough!!" Frank’s voice boomed, his face red with anger.
"Why Mr Blackwood. Did I say something wrong?" Everyone eyes Frank and his wife. They now saw them as despicable people. How could they be so heartless to a young girl?
"Did you also have a hand in it? Did you know your daughter was living unprotected in the streets?" Frank had nothing to say, neither did Claudia or Elisa.
"If she was raped would your excuse be because of a fight with her sister?" Elisa opened her mouth to defend herself but no word came out. She couldn’t say anything.
Andrew chuckled, "So you see ladies and gentlemen. Harlow here has every right to slap them all and more." Andrew said casually staring at the girl before him. He has made a promise to her, that he would always protect and love her. And that is what he would do.
The people in the hall agreed immediately. Andrew had single-handedly swayed the people’s hearts back to Harlow.
"That is inhumane, why would anyone do that to a young girl?" A woman said.
"I never knew you could be this Heartless Elisa. How could you do this to your stepdaughter?" Another woman asked her. They all looked disappointed.
"What do you expect? She’s not the girl’s mother. This is why we must all pray never to die so early, mistresses need to be put in their place."
"If you ask me, I’ll say they all owe Harlow an apology," Andrew concluded.
"An apology will never be enough for the things they’ve all done to her. They’re the worst parent in the world." A woman spat. Elisa frowned at this, same with Claudia. They would make sure they dealt with Andrew so much that he would never see another light of day.
Claudia quickly dashed to Harlow’s feet, "I’m so sorry sister, I had no idea that is what you went through." Harlow shifted her feet irritated by the fake apology.
"Oh Harlow dear, you know how much h I love you. I had no idea my punishment would do such to you my dear. You know I’ve always cared for you and would never hurt you, please forgive your mother. Please." Both mother and daughter put on a show before everyone.
To the people watching, they meant every word that left their lips, but to Harlow, she knew they were only pretending.
Frank said nothing and walked away.
"You can come back to the mansion Harlow, we’re truly so sorry." Claudia rose from where she knelt to stand before her sister. She pulled Harlow in for a hug.
"I have a reputation to maintain, so enjoy your victory for this moment because it gets worse than this." Harlow pushed her away, without another word she walked away.
