THE BILLIONAIRE'S VENGEFUL WIFE RETURNS -
Chapter 101: BIRTHDAY GALA 3
Chapter 101: BIRTHDAY GALA 3
Frank was taken aback by his daughter’s mulish attitude. Never has Harlow been this arrogant in her life. Harlow pushed the cane aside and slapped her father also. The sound echoed around the room.
Frank’s hand trembled on his cane, his face pale with shock and outrage. Never in his life had anyone dared to challenge him this way, least of all his own daughter. The slap echoed in his ears, and for a moment, he seemed frozen in time, unable to comprehend what had just happened.
The room was imbued in a tense, suffocating silence, broken only by the hushed whispers of the stunned crowd. All eyes were on Harlow, who stood tall and fearless, the flames of her fury lighting up her crimson hair like a crown of fire.
Harlow’s voice, sharp and dangerous, sliced through the silence. "Insolent? Do you really want to see what insolence looks like, Father?" She took a step towards Frank and didn’t stop till she was standing before him. She was his daughter anyway.
Like father like daughter.
Just because he is her father doesn’t mean he was an exemption to her wrath.
Everyone in the room was shocked. No one dared humiliate Frank Blackwood this way, not even the devil. They were all eager to see what Frank would do to his daughter.
Was he really going to harm her? This was really so interesting to watch. The Blackwoods had drama they couldn’t pay to watch in any cinema and it was all thanks to Harlow.
Even Andrew was scared this time, but he was ready to protect the little woman. He would never let them harm her ever again.
"What did you ever do for me?" Harlow demanded, her voice rising with every word, every ounce of pain and betrayal she had bottled up over the weeks spilling out like an unstoppable tide.
"Forcing me to marry an old man? Selling me off like a piece of property? Letting him lay his filthy hands on your own daughter, all for what? To make sure your precious Claudia could marry Alanis? A man who’s already married to me?"
Frank’s mouth opened, but no words came out. His face contorted with rage and confusion, but his silence was louder than anything he could say.
This was because he knew his daughter was right. He has hurt Harlow so much and this past week had made him realize how wrong he was. That is why he has been looking for her, to apologize and accept her back into their family again.
When he heard about the accident in the outskirts of the city, he had gone there himself to look for his daughter, but the people around said she was already gone.
This is not what he wanted for his daughter. Everything he is today is thanks to her mother. Harlow should be the one enjoying all of his wealth and not the other way around this time.
Frank opened his mouth to speak and then, "You liar!" Elisa’s shrill voice cut through the air as she stepped forward, her hand clutching her chest dramatically, tears brimming in her eyes. "How dare you say such vile things? After everything we’ve done for you? We took you in, we raised you after your mother died, gave you everything, and this is how you repay us? By lying in front of everyone?"
Her voice cracked, and the tears that began to spill down her face were a calculated performance. She was a master at this, the perfect victim, the perfect mother betrayed by her ungrateful child. The crowd shifted uncomfortably, some clearly falling for Elisa’s act.
But Harlow only laughed, a cold, hollow sound that sent a shiver through the room. Harlow doesn’t mind her name being tarnished and destroyed. But she will take them down with her.
She was done being the scapegoat of the family. If she goes down, they all go down with her.
"Liar?" She smiled. "What part did I lie about? Tell the world why I’m being cast out from my father’s mansion by his mistress?" Elisa’s lips trembled at the murmurs from the crowd of people. Does she think she’s good at playing the victim, well, she had finally met her match today.
"Stealing my diamonds at the Auction? Locking all of my accounts and destroying the business I started?" Harlow smiled. "Do you want me to list them all?" She looked at Elisa who had become speechless too.
She knew the reason Harlow was kicked out, she had been the one behind it. Staying at if her daughter didn’t marry Nathan Eagle, she would no longer be a part of the family. She had been the one to hurt Harlow the most.
"And you think the people in here are gullible enough to believe your lies." Elisa finally regained her composure.
"You were kicked out of the Blackwood mansion because you tried to harm your sister, just like you’re doing now." She pointed at Claudia who was still on the floor. Two people held her and she finally stood up.
"This bush attitude of yours is the reason we kicked you out. We have covered your substandard behavior for a long, but enough is enough." Harlow wasn’t shocked that Elisa was lying with a straight face. She was so good at it.
"Alanis chose to marry your sister because of your bad attitude, not because he was still married to you. How can you lie this way?" Elisa asked already changing the mind of everyone from Harlow’s side. Her words made sense to them now.
They have all seen Harlow slap Claudia unprovoked, accusing her of something she didn’t do. And they had seen her slap her mother and father too. To them, Harlow is just a spoilt brat who should be taught a lesson.
"You dared raise your hands at me and your father today. You will be punished for it."
"Harlow, sister, hurry up and apologize to Mother, maybe she will reconsider your punishment." Claudia said like a good child."
"No amount of apology can make up for the humiliation your sister has caused your family today Claudia. I know you love her, but I go with Elisa. She should be punished for it." A woman among the crowd said and the others agreed immediately.
"I don’t think so," Andrew spoke out. "I think Harlow deserves an apology for everything they did to her." He added.
