Chapter 201: Finding The Whistleblower -1

"No... No..." Sophia shook her head, traumatized just by the idea of spending a day among crazy people. She looked at the door and saw that they were walking away. Rushing out, she grabbed onto William’s hand.

"I am completely fine! Do not send me anywhere, please." She begged, tears forming in the corner of her eyes. Turning to Evelyn, she accused, "She is behind all this, William! She... she wants me to suffer!"

William sighed at Sophia’s outburst. It was all his fault! He should have paid more attention to her. Gracia’s return had taken a toll on everyone, but it seemed to have affected Sophia the worst. He felt a deep sense of guilt and regret.

"You should check my dash cam, William! I am not making up stories or having hallucinations." Turning to Ronan beside Evelyn, she cried out loud, "He... He hung me on a cliff."

"We checked everything, Sophia," William murmured with a sigh. Holding her hand, he added, "And also how you almost jumped off the cliff last night."

Sophia’s eyes widened in confusion. "What?"

Evelyn stepped forward and showed a video on her phone, "We retrieved your dash cam and this is what we found in it."

Sophia snatched the phone and looked at the video. She was standing alone by the cliff, the breeze swaying her petite body. Just when she was about to jump, someone appeared and saved her.

"If not for this young man, you would have jumped off that cliff, Mrs. Wright," the doctor said, playing his part in the plan. With Gracia soon taking over, he decided to jump to her side rather than stick with the woman who would be thrown out soon.

Evelyn took a step back and stood beside Ronan, both sharing a knowing glance. Ronan had talked with William and told a story about seeing Sophia there last night, looking quite lost, and driving away, leaving him worried. That was the reason why he wanted to meet William personally, to ask if he was aware of her condition. William fell for the modified video and Ronan’s words, believing that Sophia was indeed sick.

"This is fabricated!" Sophia cried out, tears spilling from her eyes. Glaring at Ronan, she took a step forward and grabbed his collar, "Tell them the truth! Tell them what you did to me!"

Everyone was surprised by her outburst. William paled, the doctor’s mouth hung open in shock, and he couldn’t help but wonder if Sophia was sick.

"Leave him!" Evelyn pretended to stop Sophia, from trying to meddle in. When Ronan looked at her, she nodded, and he lightly nudged Sophia.

Evelyn lost her balance and stumbled back, her head hitting the pillar.

"Evelyn!" Gracia, who was walking towards them, rushed at the commotion, followed by Avery.

William looked at Sophia and then at Evelyn, who held the back of her head. She stumbled a bit before falling to the ground. Evelyn’s dramatic fall made everyone gasp.

"Grace!" Even Ronan shouted out loud. Pushing Sophia away, who stumbled behind, he quickly grabbed Evelyn on the ground. He patted her cheeks, and when she didn’t respond, he glared at Sophia and accused her, "Why did you push her?"

"I... I did not!" Sophia clarified, equally shocked. Gracia and Avery rushed to Evelyn’s side.

"We all saw you push her," Avery accused her further, making sure William heard it perfectly.

"No, I did not!" Sophia cried again but shut up when William glared at her.

The doctor squatted down and pretended to try waking up Evelyn too. Looking at the shocked maids, he demanded, "Get some water!"

"Baby, wake up..." Gracia tried to wake Evelyn, believing she was indeed hurt.

After a few seconds, Evelyn slowly opened her eyes, pressing the back of her head. "I... I am fine," she murmured in a low voice. Looking at Sophia, she added, "It wasn’t her fault. Don’t blame her..."

Sophia’s mouth fell open in shock. She knew that dialogue all too well. She had used it all her life against Evelyn, and now hearing it from her, it seemed like she had taught some acting classes to her.

"You should get therapy, Mrs. Wright!" Avery mocked Sophia, her words echoing in the corridor. "There’s no need to be embarrassed about it."

Sophia gritted her teeth, frustration, anger, and loss bubbling within her, making it too hard to even breathe. She was fighting a losing battle.

"It seems like a big bump. You should press some ice," the doctor smoothly lied. Evelyn wasn’t even injured.

Ronan helped Evelyn stand up, and Gracia said, "Let’s take her home." Ronan nodded, and they both helped Evelyn walk downstairs. Avery looked at William.

Avery turned to William, who was lost in his world, and added, "Having her around seems dangerous, Uncle. Be careful, please." With that, she walked away with the doctor, leaving the couple alone.

"I am sorry, Sophia," William murmured, moving closer. Pulling her into a hug, he confessed, "It’s all my fault. I should have paid more attention to you."

William felt guilty as he held Sophia. Tears flowed freely from her eyes, realizing she was fighting a losing battle. She could feel her end was not too far away, and there wasn’t even Maverick or Elias, for whom she had done all this, to at least stand behind her. She was left alone, and that stung worse than anything.

Back at Reign Mansion, the group entered and found Damien in the room, sitting with Rosalind.

"Oh, the prince finally shows up," Avery grumbled, though she was excited to see him after so long. Now that they weren’t meeting every day or fighting over every small issue, she realized how much he had taken over her mind, and she hated to admit it.

"Gracia," Damien ignored Avery and greeted the older woman first. "How are you?" he asked, sharing a warm hug with her.

"Doing great," Gracia replied with a smile. Breaking the hug, she asked, "I heard things are rough at Arecamia. It would have been fine even if you hadn’t come."

"My team is pretty much handling it," Damien replied with a small smile. Glancing over at Avery, he added, "Also, I had some things to take care of here."

Just then, a chirpy voice echoed through the room, instantly brightening everyone’s mood.

"Mommy!" Kiana jumped out of her father’s arms and rushed toward Evelyn. Evelyn smiled and picked her up, hugging her daughter tightly.

Kiana then looked at Damien, and her eyes sparkled with joy. "Uncle Dam!!"

"Hello, little devil!" Damien smiled and pinched her nose. The maid came in and took Kiana, who had just returned from school, to help her change her uniform.

Everyone settled in the hall. Zevian sat beside Evelyn, while Gracia and Avery sat beside Rosalind. The two mafia bosses took seats across from them. The maids served coffee and evening tea as Avery narrated what happened back at Wright Mansion.

"You should have seen her face," Avery laughed out loud, and Evelyn smiled, recalling her little act.

"Are you fine?" Zevian asked, looking at her head. Evelyn nodded with a smile and clung to his arm. "I am completely fine," she replied.

Avery continued her stories, making everyone picture it and enjoy Sophia’s expressions. Just then, Kiana rushed down the stairs, carrying an old keypad phone.

"Mommy! Mommy!" She rushed to her parents, and Zevian helped her sit on his lap so she could talk with her mother.

"Yael gave me this old phone that belonged to his dad," Kiana said excitedly. Even Damien was intrigued and looked at the device. "It was his first phone, and it had this weird snake game on it."

"Does it still work?" Damien wondered aloud, recalling how Lucius had kept the phone for a long time. It was his first gift from his mother, and he cherished it very much.

"Can you teach me how to play it?" Kiana asked curiously, pressing the buttons to hover over the game.

"Me?" Evelyn pointed at herself and wondered aloud.

Kiana looked up at her mother and nodded with a smile. "Uncle Eli once told me you taught him to play it. This was the first game he played," the little girl innocently added, pressing the buttons to move the snake and win the game.

Evelyn blinked in confusion, recalling the past. She remembered being around fifteen and having this kind of phone too. Elias was around three when she had taught him to play this game. The memory brought back all the beautiful moments of their childhood and how they had been almost inseparable until a few weeks ago.

But then something else hit her! She recalled the phone they had retrieved at the old Wright Mansion, which had a similar game on it. The person who had helped them find Gracia’s exact location and kept them warned to keep her safe. A tear slipped down her cheek, realizing it must have been Elias all this time. He was the one who had been helping them, being close to Sophia and knowing her plans.

Zevian moved closer and asked, "What’s wrong?"

Evelyn looked at him, tears flowing freely. Her lips trembled as she said, "It was Elias, Ian. He was the one texting us with that phone."

Even Damien and Ronan were surprised by her words, exchanging glances. Zevian widened his eyes in surprise.

"He had been leaving clues, and I didn’t even catch it," Evelyn cried out, expressing her guilt and regrets. She felt she had failed to recognize him and even believed he wasn’t part of her family anymore.

"Are you sure?" Damien asked, still unable to believe it. If Elias had likely paired up with his mother to help them, he should have confessed it.

Evelyn nodded and got up from her seat. "Where is he?" Wiping away her tears, she murmured, "I need to see him."

Zevian put Kiana down and caressed Evelyn’s back, trying to calm her. Glancing at Damien, he ordered, "Ask about his whereabouts."

Avery rushed to Evelyn’s side and gave her a side hug, feeling equally guilty that she had doubted their little boy. Gracia and Rosalind also felt bad.

Damien called his men and his eyes widened at their response. "What do you mean you lost him?" he muttered, glancing worriedly at Zevian.

"What’s wrong?" Evelyn asked, her heart racing wildly in panic. When Damien hesitated to reply, she inquired in a trembling voice, "Is he alright?"

Damien shook his head, causing Evelyn’s heart to sink. No, she couldn’t lose her Eli! If something happened to him, she couldn’t ever forgive herself.
