Chapter 197: A Date On The Cliff -2
"Are you planning to kill her?" Avery asked, still in shock. What better deed would they be doing hanging by the cliff?
Ronan shook his head, leaning back on the couch with a smirk. He took another sip of his coffee, making them all curious and impatient. Suddenly, a deadly glint appeared in his eyes, and he replied, "There’s no fun in killing her. I want her to feel exactly what Annabelle went through that night."
Evelyn heaved a small sigh, disappointment, and frustration evident in her expression. Annabelle’s loss was a wound that never fully healed. They only knew the maid’s part of the story, and it was infuriating that they couldn’t get more of it, of what exactly forced Sophia to kill her pawn.
"I heard Damien will be joining us tomorrow," Ronan’s words brought Evelyn out of her thoughts. Looking at him, she nodded with a smile. He had texted about his return, grumbling about how they couldn’t have all the fun without him. Sophia had given him a hard time too, raging up his brains in the last few months, and he wanted to pay her back.
"I guess you all will be having a great week ahead," Benjamin commented in his language. Looking at the youngsters, he sulked, "Too bad my health doesn’t allow me to join you."
Avery broke into a grin, finding him quite endearing. "Don’t worry, Mr. Igor. I will make sure to fill you in every day," she replied, glowing the old man’s face.
"Really?" When Avery nodded, Benjamin laughed out loud. "That’s great! I will be investing more in your company."
Everyone laughed out loud, the room filled with warmth and camaraderie. Evelyn exchanged a smile with Ronan, excited about what he was planning for Sophia. They all enjoyed talking among themselves, mainly about AWE’s future plans and business ventures. The conversation flowed effortlessly, their shared goals and dreams creating a bond of mutual respect.
After an hour, Avery and Evelyn decided to leave since they still had meetings lined up for the day. Benjamin also decided to get ready for a tour around the city. Ronan walked the ladies out.
"We will see you in the evening," Avery said excitedly with a grin.
Ronan nodded and with a smile, he added, "Make sure not to be late."
The ladies walked out of the house with the bodyguards and Rita quickly followed them.

[Wright Mansion]
Sophia quickly finished stuffing money in her bag. Maverick had searched the entire city the entire night, and Elias was nowhere to be found. She couldn’t just sit and wait for them to find him, so she decided to meet the person who would help her out.
"Where are you going?" William’s voice startled her. Didn’t he already leave for the office? Why was he back?
Turning around, she gave a sweet smile and replied, "Since Gracie has returned, I decided to visit some NGOs. We needed to celebrate it by helping the needy ones, right?"
William glanced at the money rolled over the bed before looking at Sophia. A smile lifted his tired face, and he nodded in response. How could Gracia suspect a woman as kind as Sophia? He thought, falling for yet another trap.
"Ask my assistant if you need more money," William murmured, walking to the nightstand to pick up the phone he had forgotten to take earlier.
Sophia nodded with a smile at him, and as soon as he left, she sighed out loud. Taking all the money in her bag, she quickly dialed someone’s number and walked downstairs.
"Ma’am! Your coffee!" The butler came forward with a cup of freshly brewed coffee.
Sophia hesitated for a while but decided to drink it first. She had a long day ahead and couldn’t run around with this throbbing headache. Setting aside the bag, she sat on the couch and took the cup.
"What should we prepare for lunch?" The butler asked, making sure to stay behind until she drank the last sip from the cup.
"William probably won’t return, so don’t bother yourself," Sophia ordered, her eyes concentrated on her phone screen. The coffee was refreshing, and she enjoyed it, giving her mind a little peace.
"Oh, what about dinner then? Should I prepare something simple?" The butler asked again. Sophia hummed in response, her eyes fixed on the phone.
Once Sophia finished the coffee, she placed it on the table and hurried out. The butler smirked at her disappearing back and took out his phone to inform that his task was complete.
Sophia quickly drove out of the mansion only to get caught up in traffic. She impatiently looked at the cars lined in front of her, honking and cursing under her breath. Her anxiety and frustration were palpable, her fingers tapping nervously on the steering wheel. The city seemed to conspire against her, every red light and slow-moving vehicle adding to her mounting stress.
"It must be due to lack of sleep," Sophia murmured, rubbing her eyes. Her vision started to blur, and her mind felt dizzy. The world around her began to spin, the colors and shapes blending into a disorienting haze. She tried to shake it off, but the dizziness only intensified.
The cars behind her honked loudly, drivers cursing and shouting at her to move, but she didn’t wake up. The car owner behind her got down and walked to her door, his eyes widening in horror seeing the driver not moving on the seat.
"Shit!" Taking out his phone, he quickly dialed an ambulance and reported it. In the next few seconds, it strangely appeared to pick up the patient.

A few hours later, Sophia slowly opened her eyes, feeling a cold gust of wind sweep over her. Her hands were tied to something hard and rough. She blinked a few times to clear her blurry vision. As she gained clarity, her eyes almost popped out in shock.
Why was she seeing the sunset so closely?
She looked down, and a scream left her mouth. "What... what the heck!" she cursed, realizing she was dangling on the edge of a cliff, with her hands tied to a little branch.
She freaked out, scared out of her wits as she looked down at the thick trees below, unable to see the ground. It was dark and eerie, and if she slipped, she would end up in hell for sure. The view was terrifying, the abyss below seeming to pull her in, the wind howling around her, making the branch sway precariously.
"Nice view, isn’t it?" A chilly voice broke through her thoughts, and Sophia looked up, a gasp leaving her mouth.
Ronan smirked at her reaction, walking even closer and stepping a little over the branch. "My team had a really hard time finding this location," he continued, his eyes fixed on the setting sun in front of them. The sky was painted in hues of orange and pink, birds flying away in the distance, a beautiful contrast to the horror Sophia was experiencing.
"I was very specific about how I wanted to see you, and luckily, they found this perfect spot and a perfect branch to tie you up," Ronan added, his gentle voice sending shivers down her spine.
"Pick me up!" Sophia grumbled as a wave of wind hit her, making her body dangle in the air like a wrung-out cloth hung on a rope.
"Well, well. Look at that attitude." Ronan clicked his tongue, shaking his head in disappointment. Turning around, he addressed Evelyn, "You were right. She would never change even if we gave her a chance."
Sophia tried to peer up and caught sight of two pairs of legs, definitely women’s, standing away. She quickly realized it must be Gracia and Evelyn and gritted her teeth. Her emotions were a whirlwind of fear, anger, and desperation. Evelyn stood with her arms crossed, a satisfied smirk on her face, enjoying Sophia’s suffering.
"I... I didn’t push your sister, Mr. Igor. It was the maid! Trust me!" Sophia desperately begged, making Avery scoff out loud. This woman still had the guts to lie even on the brink of her death.
"But you ordered her to push her, didn’t you?" Evelyn asked, taking a step forward and standing beside Ronan so Sophia could see her clearly.
Sophia glared at the annoying prick. The branch suddenly swayed because of the wind, and she shrieked in horror. Looking up at Ronan, she begged, "Please! Please don’t kill me! I will do anything! I will do everything you want, Mr. Igor. Please help me out!"
Ronan sneered at her pleading. In response, he took a step forward, stomping on one of her hands, and Sophia cried out loud. Tears formed in the corner of her eyes as he pressed hard, her fingers sandwiched between the branch’s texture and his shoe.
"She must have begged in the same way, right?" Ronan asked, his voice dropping low with terror. When Sophia looked at him, he continued, "She must have cried and pleaded with you not to kill her."
Sophia had no pleas or words anymore. She was scared, trembling under the torture, the pain excruciatingly painful that she felt like just letting go of the branch and jumping. But these bastards had tied her hands tightly to the branch, preventing her from trying anything.
"Please... Please don’t kill me!" Sophia continued to beg, her voice loud and trembling in terror. "Please spare me! I I don’t want to die!" she cried her heart out, her cries a soothing melody to both Evelyn’s and Ronan’s ears.
"Since you didn’t listen to any of her pleas, why should I, Mrs. Wright?" Ronan continued, mocking her that Evelyn and Avery snickered, enjoying it to the core.
Sophia’s heart thundered in her chest. She was doomed for real! Taking a deep breath, she prepared herself for death. But suddenly, Sophia felt Ronan taking his foot away, sparing her fingers from even more torture. She looked up and blinked her tears away in confusion. A flicker of hope filled her heart, thinking he had decided to give her a chance. A small smile lit her face as Ronan squatted down beside the branch. Yes, he must have reconsidered letting her go!
But her eyes widened in terror as he stepped even closer, one of his men passing him the axe. Dread filled her again as Ronan smirked at her, almost sinister like a devil from hell.
"No... No..." Sophia shrieked out loud, her body trembling with fear and dread.
Ronan eyes gleamed with a cold, calculated malice. "Goodbye, Mrs. Wright." With one swift motion, he swung the axe, cutting the branch in a single slice.
Sophia’s shrieks echoed around, scaring even the birds away as she slipped along with the broken pieces of the branch, falling into the abyss below.
