Chapter 196: A Date On The Cliff -1
The next day, Evelyn walked downstairs towards the dining hall to find Kiana already up and enjoying her cake with her Daddy. The morning sun filtered through the curtains of floor-to-ceiling windows in the corridor, casting a warm, golden glow over the room, making the scene even more picturesque.
"Mommy!!" Kiana beamed at the sight of Evelyn, her little face lighting up with joy. She happily took another bite of her cake, chocolate smudged around her mouth, and talked in between bites, "Look! Daddy made me a cake!"
"Oh, that’s great!" Evelyn replied, settling beside her husband. She poured herself a cup of steaming coffee, the rich aroma mingling with the scent of freshly baked cake. "Do you like it?"
"Yes!" Kiana gingerly nodded. Licking the crumbs off her lips, she added, "This is the best chocolate cake ever!" Turning to her parents, she giggled, "And he’s the best Daddy in the world!"
"He indeed is," Evelyn replied, smiling at her husband. Her heart swelled with love and contentment. She couldn’t stop herself from leaning closer and stealing a small good morning kiss, catching Zevian off guard again.
Holding back her chuckle as he stared at her in surprise, Evelyn picked up a glass and poured the fresh orange juice, its vibrant color a perfect contrast to the morning’s serenity. Zevian shook his head and focused back on Kiana, helping the little girl finish her breakfast.
It was one of the best mornings for Evelyn, filled with warmth and happiness. The sight of her daughter enjoying the cake and the loving interaction between father and daughter made her heart swell with joy. The sun’s gentle rays streamed through the window, casting a golden glow on the scene, making it picture-perfect that she decided to click a few pictures.
Everyone else soon joined them one by one, with Avery being the last, still in her pajamas, her hair tousled from sleep. They all enjoyed breakfast together, laughter and cheerful conversation filling the air. The table was laden with a variety of breakfast foods—fluffy pancakes, crispy bacon, fresh fruit, and more. After breakfast, Evelyn walked Zevian and Kiana out.
"Be good and finish your lunch," she nuzzled the little girl’s nose before kissing her cheek.
"Okay," Kiana murmured, hugging her mother tightly. She was still reluctant to go to school, especially after hearing that her grandmothers were going out for shopping. The maid came forward, and Evelyn put Kiana down.
"We will watch your favorite movie once you are back," Evelyn tried to cheer up the little girl, and it worked, bringing a huge smile to Kiana’s face.
"You are the best!" Kiana squealed, blowing a kiss before walking with the maid to the car. With a grin, she waved at her parents as John drove them off.
Next, it was Zevian’s turn. He pulled her closer, his hand wrapping around her waist tightly, his gaze making her heart race. She knew what was coming and her body burned under his gaze.
"You will be late!" Evelyn grumbled, a blush creeping up her cheeks as a few maids were still around. Earlier, there was no one around, but now, feeling so many gazes, she tried to push Zevian, but his grip only tightened.
"I might be very late tonight, probably past midnight," Zevian said, his words making Evelyn stop struggling in his hold. A pout formed on her lips, and she reluctantly nodded, trying to be the understanding wife of a king handling an empire.
Zevian smiled at her expression. Leaning closer, he kissed her briefly but passionately. The kiss was sweet but also felt like he was trying to make up for the time they had to stay apart. His lips were warm and tender, peppering her with kisses until she couldn’t bear it anymore. Reluctantly, he pulled away as Evelyn became conscious of the people around, tapping on his chest and gently pushing him away.
"Take Rita with you when you meet them," Zevian murmured, caressing her cheek. Realizing he was talking about Benjamin and Ronan, who had already arrived at the hotel this morning, she nodded with a smile.
"I will keep you updated," she replied, cupping his cheek and giving him a light peck. "Now go! You will set a bad example for your employees," she added, pushing him down the stairs.
Zevian sighed and walked to his car. Evelyn waved with a smile as the car drove off before returning inside to get ready to meet the Igors.

[Monisaro Hotel]
Evelyn arrived at the hotel with Rita and a few bodyguards. Igor’s men guided them to the penthouse they had rented, since Ronan would be staying longer than his usual business meetings. The place was grand, lavish but comfortable that Avery realized it must have been alerted to match their taste.
"Grace!" Benjamin’s face beamed as soon as Evelyn entered, but his eyes were also filled with guilt that even Avery noticed.
"Ms. Cartwell," he then greeted Avery, who smiled back at him.
"Master Igor," Evelyn greeted him, her smile making the old man feel even more guilty. The room was elegantly furnished, with plush sofas and tasteful decor.
Just then, Ronan walked down the glass stairs, dressed in casual jeans and a shirt. He exchanged a side hug with Evelyn and then a handshake with Avery before they all settled on the couch. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, yet there was an undercurrent of tension.
"Firstly," Benjamin took a deep breath. Looking at Evelyn, he continued, "I am sorry for that day. We shouldn’t have let the cops arrest you." Looking down, the old man added, "I should not have threatened Ronan to stay silent during her funeral. He should have taken your side that day and helped you out."
Evelyn smiled in response. Moving closer, she held his hand and replied, "He did help me out to find my mom, Master Igor. And I will be forever grateful to your family."
Benjamin smiled in relief, relieved that she didn’t hate them. They continued to talk about Gracia’s health, about AWE and their upcoming projects. Benjamin enjoyed listening to the two ladies talk with so much passion about their mark, making him admire them even more. The conversation flowed effortlessly, their shared goals and dreams creating a bond of mutual respect.
"So, what’s your plan for today?" Benjamin asked, turning to his grandson.
Ronan smirked, leaning back on the couch. Crossing his leg, he took a sip of his coffee and replied, "We all are going to a cliff."
Evelyn blinked in confusion, and even Avery didn’t understand what he meant. Why would they be going to a cliff? Benjamin was confused for a moment before his eyes widened in realization.
A spark ignited on his face, and he asked curiously, "Don’t tell me you are planning to push Sophia off a cliff."
Ronan simply shrugged, his smile chilly. "Well, that’s the plan," he replied, making Avery’s mouth drop in shock.
